The dosage has been doubled and one less time a day. So now she's getting 5mg more a day. She's in pain, not getting it how it was originally prescribed by her pain management doctor. Today (Friday evening) she told me how much pain she's been in. I called the nurses station and apparently there isn't anyone there that can help me with this problem. They said the doctor won't call me because they're off and only deal with emergencies on evenings and on the weekends. Mom has stayed at Epworth before for rehabilitation without problems, but after this I will look for someplace else.

As per McBride hospital, since my blood pressure has been very low at times, to take my BP before administering my BP meds. They repeatedly give me meds before checking blood pressure. My left arm was in a sling do to shoulder replacement surgery and was delivered a pork chop for dinner. No one was there to cut up the chop. I could go on and on but I would not wish my worst enemy go to this facility. Breakfast was just OK. No dietitians to plan menues. Might get fried fish with baked beans. Offered Spice Cake for desert 5 nights in a row. I could go on for quite some time but just don't go here. If so, please have a family member closely watch over your care!

The remodeling provides an inviting welcome to all visitors. The resident rooms are much improved from the previous director. The nursing and support staff with one exception works to provide the best care possible for my mom and her suite-mate. She has been at Meadowlakes Estates since 2018. They respond to request and are very attentive to her needs. The attitude of the staff is positive with a can do spirit. There is no perfect senior care facility, but this staff that cares for my mother strives to reach the goal of excellence. My 95 year old mother is pleased with her care except they don't always season the food the way she did when she was preparing our meals.

The request to administer pain medications to my mom was given to staff by me many times and each time they would say they had not received any pain medications from the pharmacy to administer. This took many days to get at the facility and required intervention with multiple staff and physician. The staff received pain medications finally and were instructed to give her pain medications consistently to ease her suffering from the brain cancer. When I would visit each day and ask about pain medications they would say they had not given any during the night. My mom was obviously in pain and suffering, in and out of lucidity. I told them repeatedly to give each night as she was dying and in pain from the brain cancer. The nursing staff rarely gave pain meds to her if I was not present. The last 2 nights of her life the staff said the night staff forgot one night and the night she passed away they stated the night nurse could not find the pain medication in the medication drawer to administer. She did not have any pain medication because of neglect of the staff. If I could give less than 1 star I would as the care was abuse.

Then we went to check out Brookhaven and we surprisingly encouraged as soon as we walked in the door. The staff was very helpful and answered all of our questions better than expected. We decided Brookhaven was the place for her hands down. Mr. J T called me the next morning to let me know a private room was available. We moved her in that afternoon. From the time she checked in until the time she checked out everyone was caring and helpful, ensuring she had the best care possible. The entire staff treated her like she was family not just another patient. Outstanding care, treatment and very clean up to date facilities. I highly recommend Brookhaven. V/R, G. Mott
