They won't take messages and ask us to call back tomorrow - yet you get sent straight to voicemail. Wouldn't put my grandmother in memory care, but my grandmother hurts too much to go to the dining room. When they bring her food, they don't check to make sure she eats it. She does have dementia, so she does forget to eat! She's dehydrated REGULARLY. It hasn't been any different than the 2 other places we moved her from.

My family toured extensively looking for a memory care facility for my grandma and ended up choosing Veraden because the residents seemed the most happy (even though it was not the closest or the most budget friendly). What a blessing this place has been! My grandma is thriving here. Almost daily we see photos of her taking part in enriching activities. She has made friends despite her advanced dementia. We visit her daily and every time she looks lovely and content, dressed with her hair and nails done. Even though she doesn't know where she lives she always tells me how "blessed" she is to be there. It is evident that Phil, LJ, and the team of caregivers really love their job and go above and beyond for the seniors. Our family is so thankful for this place and the safe and happy environment that it has provided for my amazing grandma!

However, knowing that, it's still hard not to expect more out of a facility that's existence is based solely on caring for those with memory concerns. But I will say that the facility is always clean. The staff are always nice. Communication isn't always exactly what I would like it to be but I understand that they care for many other people. Somehow her walker was lost and she didn't get a replacement for a while. She is now in a wheel chair. They have recliners that are comfortable and are placed in front of a large screen tv. The facility is composed of two buildings. They have a recreational staff member that coordinates crafts, outings etc. They also have a stylist that comes in and does hair for an additional charge. My mother pays appx $7000 for all inclusive care. So there are no tiers of care. It makes it simpler this way. The hospice company that they utilize, Frontier, visits her & offers physical therapy, a social worker, and other aspects of care. They are also very kind and will call us and give us updates. Overall, I am glad that she's here and is being well cared for. I was unable to offer the level of care that she needed so Iris was a great solution for us.

I feel like we are benefiting from the rewards of working hard all our lives. I wondered before we moved if I was too young to live in a retirement community. But I love it and happy I found a place close to family where I can spend the last chapter of my life without moving again. The meals are wonderful. The Pitzner landscape crew keeps the grounds immaculate. Grass mowed, snow shoveled and planting seasonal flowers and hanging Christmas Lights. Very friendly. The staff is courteous and quickly knows and greets you by name. The chef's cook delicious meals. Neighbors are friendly even though I only see their eyes and a mask. We have felt safe living here with all the Covid. They have been very cautious. Can hardly wait until this pandemic comes to an end so we can fully enjoy our new community and family can visit. Currently, I take part in outside community activities. Our Life Enrichment team also has a variety of activities scheduled on-site throughout the day. Touchmark supplies yard work, home maintenance, and weekly housekeeping. I just look at the menu at mealtime and decide what I want to eat. Our chef is wonderful. No more grocery shopping or cooking. The high school and college kids that serve us are like grandchildren you get to see every day. The health and fitness director will assess you and find an exercise class that will enhance your health. Friends gather and visit the Pub in the evenings. It is wonderful to know all my neighbors and live where we feel safe. Touchmark is a great place to spend this season of my life.

I have ADHD, so I always forget something in my car or decide at the last minute to go do something; I have to get my keys from the attendant no matter what. Even if I have my own key, I have to have them let me in the lot. So we walk in to the hotel, I notice how well decorated it is and beautiful. The front desk receptionist was sweet and knowledgeable. We get to our room and while gorgeous with the decorating, it became noticeably dirty. The sheets had black specs on them. No, they weren't bed bugs but they were some kind of spec of plastic or sand (small). The bathroom was nice, then you go to close the door and it was extremely hard to lock. No, it wasn't a door to swing close, it was a sliding door and it didn't latch unless it was locked. Once the door was closed, you notice that it's a frosted glass door - wooden frame. As you look closer, what I thought was frost was (under a thick layer of I don't know what. It had streams down it, dingier prints on the outside, just dirty. The bathroom floor had specs behind the toilet, and the trash hadn't been emptied from before and the container was gross. The shower was nice with their amazing liquid soaps. It had a flat drain on the side (the big long ones instead of circle drain in the middle). The tile was nice except the grout between the basin and the other tiles were dirty. The rest of the bathroom was cute but with these three I started to notice more and more. The bed, it was comfortable and the "living area" was clean. Okay - I noticed they had guest laundry room on every floor and they were clean, so was the rooms. The elevators had what looked like dried spills in the walls, the front area was clean and so were the tables in the eating area. The food though? Let me tell you that I am always impressed by how well Hyatt does breakfast. Their powdered eggs NEVER seem like powdered eggs. This morning though, I was extremely disappointed .The eggs were extremely watery and no taste. The sausage looked steamed and obvious it was from a frozen Patty. The soft tortilla shells were obviously dried. The French toast looked good but it felt rubbery and was extremely thin. I give them props for having good and fresh bananas. They didn't have yogurt and toppings like all other Hyatt's have and the organization of buffet area did not flow well. After leaving we went to grab our car. We had messaged them 20 minutes before letting them know we wanted our car ready. When we got out there, the ballet guy was on the other side of a cracked door, texting and took a bit before he looked at us and said he didn't get our text, had a small attitude and then grabbed the car. We stay with Hyatt everywhere we go (normally). Every single one has their flaws. Really every hotel does. I've never seen a completely clean one. I wouldn't expect it too, they have guests going through all the time. I could t imagine being their cleaners. But this location, everything I complained about had to do with the support staff and the lack of management making good decisions for a hotel that should be amazing. -I didn't take any pictures like I normally do. I am hoping this Hyatt can change this for the betterment of customer service.

When in our room, we called front desk and requested some items and the young lady (Hispanic looking black hair looked in her 20s evening staff) responded, "You need what? Ugh I'm going to have to bring it then" Very unprofessional and rudely she brought up what we asked for, my husband said thank you and she didn't even respond. The eye rolls, the staff being on their phones in front desk and no acknowledgment gave us a bad taste of the hotel. Never staying here again, will be sure to tell others to stay away!
