This is a rave review for Brenda and the Spanish Learning Center. I have been taking her classes, virtually without a break, for several years, and her twice-weekly classes have always been one of the highlights of my week. Brenda is a superb teacher and a wonderful person to boot. She has endless patience and gently corrects any errors in such a way that we all both learn and develop confidence in our abilities. I think it is safe to say too that everyone in the class enjoys each other's company and has fun in the sessions, and we help each other out--a spirit that Brenda fosters. She supplements lessons from grammar books with Spanish-language poems, recordings of popular songs, adaptations of classics, comic strips, readings, and news of current events in Latin America and Spain to give us a well-rounded awareness of the culture. She has also been generous in reviewing and correcting emails I send to relatives in Barcelona and Buenos Aires, though I believe that under her guidance, the need for corrections has become less and less. In short, anyone who wants to learn Spanish from scratch or already has knowledge (a lot or only a little) and wants to hone their speaking, writing, and reading abilities will find a welcome place at the Spanish Learning Center. read more

I have been taking individual Spanish lessons through the Spanish Learning Center, with Brenda, via Skype, for the past two years. I have also attended two immersion weekends through the Spanish Learning Center. I believe I have made significant progress over these last two years and I am proud to say that Brenda is my teacher! Brenda is knowledgeable, patient, and motivating. I have been trying to learn Spanish for several years using books, CDs, and community college courses. I wasn't satisfied with my progress so I decided to try Spanish learning center. I really enjoy the learning process that I've experienced at Spanish learning center. Brenda has a great amount of patients and she provides a non-intimidating environment to learn in. Spanish Learning Center is the best! Brenda has a unique way of teaching in small groups. You will never feel intimated with her approach. You will have many opportunities to engage in speaking with other classmates and Brenda. She makes learning fun and easy.. After taking the beginning class, I raised my OPI score almost 2 point levels to intermediate low on the National Scale of Spanish oral proficiency. I tried Rosetta Stone, Pimsler, spending a month in Buenos Aires, took classes at a community college, bought cds, textbooks, went to subtitled movies, volunteered in a business owned by Spanish speakers and in the end, the best Spanish I learned was from Brenda. The instructor, Brenda, designed the course in such a way that it is easier for non-native speakers of Spanish to pick up Spanish very fast. The classes are available both online and in person. Brenda is a great teacher. She is patient and gives every student the attention he or she needs. She assigns limited amounts of homework, giving students the chance to practice the new skills learned in class without it feeling overwhelming or burdensome.
