The scooters were great, and included the helmets. It was a great and affordable way for us to get around Cabo. We were able to cruise around the local shops, head to the beach, grab lunch, etc. Since the scooters were fun, I gave a second star. Otherwise, I would have given one. Here is a rundown of our experience: Our group of 4 planned to rent 2 scooters for the day. Spanky's was supposed to meet us at the cruise ship dock. We couldn't find them, so we decided to walk a block to a local restaurant to get WiFi to contact them. They then directed us a few blocks away to a parking section along the street where we could pick up our scooters. We find the meet spot, pay our deposit, pick up our scooters and go on with our day. We were told to meet back at the same location at 5pm for drop off. They also told us not to park along red curbs, those are for emergency vehicles. White curbs were OK. So at exactly 5pm, we arrive with our two scooters. Spanky's employees had not yet arrived. The moment we stepped off our bikes, and put our backpacks on and stepped up onto the unpainted curb, two Mexican police officers pull up behind our scooters and begin writing us tickets for parking in "handicap." We were parked along a gray curb, feet behind the blue handicap curb, clearly not in the handicap spot. At this point, the officers are collecting our licenses, removing the plates from the bikes, and writing tickets. Spanky's employees then show up (about 15mins late) and begin talking with the officers (who spoke little English and also didn't listen to anything we had to say or answer our questions). Spanky's has the owner drive down to help sort it out. The officers were asking us to go down to the station to pay the fines, since we were the ones driving. Eventually the owner of Spanky's comes up to us, and tells us the fine for each scooter is $400 USD, but he talked the officers down to $80 each. Spanky's was willing to pay $20 towards each scooter if my friends and I covered the remaining $60 on each bike. It was then I firmly told him that we parked where HIS employees guided us, and we were on time while HIS employees were late. We shouldn't have to pay for anything because we 1. Weren't even breaking the law and 2. Were doing exactly as we were told. The kicker? When Spanky's employees gave us the bikes in the SAME EXACT SPOT, those cops were parked across the street watching and did nothing. End of the day, we didn't pay the ticket, but also didn't receive any type of refund. The whole thing left me with a bad feeling in my stomach. After researching Mexico parking tickets online, I've found that typically that fine is actually only ~$20... WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO TOURISTS. read more

Renting a scooter from Jose was a great and adventurous way of seeing downtown cabo and exploring, Its inexpensive and fun! Jose was kind enough to bring the scooters to our hotel and he offered for us to either keep them overnight or bring them back to the shop and he would give us a ride back. He was very nice and helpful. We were initially worried about being out in traffic but everyone was very courteous to us scooter riders. Great day and experience. Boyfriend and I recently traveled to Los Cabos and didn't have any transportation. Cabo San Lucas is walkable to an extent, but not if you want to go explore and adventure! Luckily, Spanky's is really close to the Marina and the resorts so we were able to walk there and rent the scooter for the day for a very reasonable price. We were given 2 helmets and my boyfriend and I went all the way to Cabo San Jose to check out a local farm! The trip was about half an hour each way and the coastline was beautiful. The scooter did great on the highways and was able to keep up with car speeds. Plus it had a lockbox on the back which I tucked my purse into whenever we stopped. The people were really nice and gave us a map, directions, and suggestions which we took. On the way back to Cabo San Lucas, we stopped at Playa Santa Maria and snorkeled using their rented snorkel gear which was better than what I use at home! I was really impressed with everything and they were easy to contact and work with. I definitely recommend Spanky's for scooter rentals or other tours. :) read more

Spanky's in Cabo provided a super easy way to get around the town. The scooters were super nice, easy to maneuver, and the staff was great. If you have never rode a scooter or if you're a timid driver, I do not recommend riding a scooter or even a bike for safety reasons, especially if you're from the US. Mexico roads and drivers are ALOT different, so just be smart and safe. Other wise this company and the staff was great... here's why! My group came from a cruise ship so just some things to keep in mind if you're doing the same. #1 Time difference #2 Cruises take forever to let you off #3 Make sure to make meeting plans before you get on the ship due to bad connections and no WiFi. When we got off the ship the plan was to meet to get the scooters, which would of ran super smoothly if it wasn't for the bad connection. Long story short, we finally got in contact and found the scooter guys (who were both super nice) and had a great day round the town. The only downfall to the whole experience was when it was time to drop off the scooters, two super greedy and shady Mexican cops tried to screw us over. We agreed to meet at 5pm in the same place where we picked up the scooters. We got there exactly at 5pm. I noticed that the cops literally watched and waited for us to get off our scooters and step onto the curb to fine us for parking in a handicap zone. The whole situation was weird because even though the spot was handicap, the line that we parked on was gray/white which is a place where you can park. Basically whoever painted those lines did a really confusing job. The cops did not let us explain at all. When I told them we will gladly move he said "no" and asked for our licence while his buddy took off the plates. And because we had no service we couldn't get a hold of the scooter guys. About 10 minutes later the same two scooters guys got there, called the boss, and the boss himself came down to talk to the cops. The rundown? These cops waited for us to park so that they could fine us $400 each on the spot! Then when the scooter guys told them it was a gray line and there was a camera right above us, the cops began to back down and said $80 each instead. The boss told us that he would pay $20 and we would pay $60, but then once we told him that it was his staff who told us to meet here he quickly understood and took care of the entire fine. This company went out of their way to help us and did not hesitate to take care of the cost. In the end, the cops got their money, my group did not have to pay any additional costs, but poor Spanky's was the one who got screwed over.
