For me Cutting Edge Meats is what I think a butcher should be. The staff are always friendly and helpful, willing to prepare your meat as you request if they don't have it on display. Our experience of the quality of the meat itself is that it is probably some of the best we've found on the northside of the city and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. In particular the lamb that we've purchased has been exceptional. I quite happily stock up here and feel like I'm getting good value for money and supporting a local business in the process. In fact we had an amusing conversation with the lady behind the counter because we were drawn in there by the chance of finding NZ cooked fish and chips. She told us she was a local, had been doing chips for years and couldn't see any real difference in how they were cooked. She managed to burn the fish while explaining this. In her defence the portion size we went home with was reasonably generous and they certainly weren't the worst we'd tried in Brisbane. We'd arrived near closing time but noted their espresso counter while we were there. They look like they do a roaring lunchtime trade in Merlo coffee and cafe food too.

My brother loved his sausage roll, and I must say that my sandwich was pretty good as well. Oh, it is also open twenty four hours, so you can grab a bite to eat after getting off the train having had a long night down in Brisbane.

I had the chunky steak pie which was surprisingly good considering that Beefy's brands itself as a fast food type of place. The steak was tender and the pie crust crunchy. The place was also very spacious and clean tables were available to eat inside. Good pie place. I'd recommend you stop by if you're hungry.

My wife used to live around the corner from this place and she remembers buying bags of lollies (which they still have), cheap pies, sandwiches and doing quick runs to for milk or spices. Katie, the owner is a lovely lady and anytime I have gone in to grab a little something for the trip back to Brisbane she's welcomed me with a smile and a "G'day lovely." Yes, some of the shopping items are a tad expensive but everything else you'd find at a corner store is pretty much the same. I come here for the great atmosphere, unpretentious charm and excellent service, which have all been completely consistent through the years. Today we each had an Eggs Benedict, Sam's with ham and my vego version with mushrooms. Totally delicious sauce, presented well, but weirdly served on a sweet white bread roll. Coffee was...okay, but definitely tasted over extracted and a bit bitter. The prices here are very modest - $10 for an Eggs Benedict and there are plenty of other breakfast options that are cheaper. The lunch menu looks great as well, but it's been a long time since I've sampled it - I'm usually here for a morning pick me up. They also have self serve sauces, salt and pepper, etc. The venue itself is lovely - filled with plants and artwork, in a charming brick and wrought iron building. For as long as I've been coming here it's been the same green- and pink-haired, tattooed staff that really make a visit worthwhile. They're honestly the cheeriest and most helpful hospitality workers I've come across.

Everything from bulk meat/mince to kebabs, already marinated chicken breasts, meatballs, burger patties...you name it they've got it, and the prices aren't terrible either - often it's $5 AUD for a single serve of their prepared pieces (e.g. marinated chicken breast). The only downside to this place is it closes early; I've never checked their hours but it seems to be about 6 PM.
