Dear General Manager; This letter is written to highlight the excellent help I received from SHAWNA DAVIS the morning of April 1, 2021. Last night (March 31, 2021) two of our Motorola signal receiving devices failed and listed that the cards were not activated. They have been working like "champs' for years so this was surprising. Last night I contacted technical support and received a recorded message that a signal would be sent to these devices and within thirty minutes they would work - but they did not. I had meetings last night so I decided to wait until this morning only to be frustrated with the technical support that informed me the two boxes were not registered with Sparklight...this was after a prolong wait. I have had these boxes working for years and had received them from, then, Cableone. Why did they suddenly quit working? Frustrated and I asked if the Fargo office was re-opened for the public and when the tech person said the office was now open so I took off for Page Drive. At this point the story gets much better. SHAWNA DAVIS was exceptional. She was patient with me and listened to me repeat my story. Patient and listened - key attitudes for customer service. From that point she worked to solve the problem. I felt that she was working to help me. She was not a "talking head" spouting a company line but was listening and worked to solve the problem. I left feeling better about Sparkwire than when I entered the building and it was because of Shawna! Again, the operative words are listened, was patient and worked to solve the customer's problem. She could run a course to train new staff in customer service! Shawna worked to have me leave a satisfied customer and I am very grateful for her efforts! She represents the best of Sparklight. I have been on the phone with this company numerous times and had no success. I have called to get a technician out to my place 3 times and have gotten reminder calls saying they are coming and they still don't show up?!? Company is a joke, if you're in Fargo, go with Midco.. read more

These guys make Comcast look great. Their service drops constantly, the speeds are slow, and their prices are outrageous. I grew up having to deal with their terrible service and continue to deal with it via my mother. Home for the holidays, the TV is constantly blacking out and the internet drops as well. About a year ago, my mother switched to the "triple play" plan (phone,data,tv) and they leased a special modem to my mother (for the incredible steal of $96/yr, pun intended). In the act, they took my personal cable modem. When I found out I gave them a call, to which they responded that it was obsolete technology anyway and I shouldn't care. It was a DOCSIS 2.0 modem and still entirely sufficient to support the slow speeds Cable One provides. Anyway, after a half hour of this women telling me she'd offer me $10 compensation, to which I reminded her CableOne stole my property, she finally agreed to pay the current value of the modem, literally saying "Fine. (click)" hanging up on me just like that. Anyway, I found out tonight that MidContinent will be rolling out service to Fargo starting this fall. I'm switching my mother to CenturyLink tomorrow and can't wait till I can move her to MidCo. read more

I have family back home in Fargo and I help them out with Internet. When I moved my family downtown, they forced me to switch plans - to their new "high speed" plans... so I signed them up for that... unfortunately what they don't tell you is that the plan comes with a 300 GB bandwidth limit every month... Who the hell still uses bandwidth caps? Cable One does, and they do it in such a clever way... They only notify you AFTER you've exceeded your allotment, so it's pretty easy to go over, especially when they give you so little to begin with. Finally after my family went several months and hit it again... Several more months of trying to stay under and they went over a third time. That's when the fun starts... By "company policy" you are now FORCED into a plan of which will allow your bandwidth to be controlled further and peak covered... the family was using 500GB/month - TYPICAL for a family with media. Our plan went from $60/month and we were being forced into a plan at $170/month. You can't negotiate with them, you can't tell them you'll lock down your router to ensure it doesn't go over again... they are going to get your money one way or another. I expressed that I also have service from Comcast in the state of Washington and for $100/month I was getting 70mbps/12mbps - and it was business class - unlimited downloading. They wanted $70 on top of that... to be put in a plan that would permit 750GB/month. I also commented that for what they are asking for, I can get the fastest fiber optic speeds, unthrottled. They didn't care, they know they are the only game in town. I went ahead and promptly cancelled my service. This is what this company does and this is why so many folks in the Fargo/Moorhead metropolitan area just simply hate this company. Their customer service is abysmal, you will wait on the phone forever, and nobody ever calls you back. Good thing the City of Fargo finally wisened up and permitted Midco to come into town... In 2016, should be able to get my family on something many times faster and at half the cost. Avoid CableOne like the plague read more

I have been a customer of Cable One for approximately 10 years. I recently switched from Cable One TV to DirecTV, but still have Cable One as my internet provider. Cable One's customer service is not professional and they are very rude. Their prices are very high compared to competitors in other cities. They have a contract with Fargo, so they are the only Cable TV provider in the city. If you have the choice, go with DirecTV or Midcontinent. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. I'm currently typing this review from my phone because cableone internet is down yet again. I run a business that needs internet during the day. Twice this month they have been down for a period of time. When I just spoke with a manager at cableobe who told me that their solution is that I should pay to have a backup provider. She told me that they can't do anything for me. I told her that they were losing my company over $50 per hour. To which she replied that it wasn't their fault and that they would not credit my account. I previously had midco when I lived in Bismarck for 3 years and never had a singe problem. As soon as midco gets to my area I'm switching providers. Everyone I have ever talked to says the same thing. Cable one can and will go bankrupt as soon as midco gets its cables laid. I never leave reviews or bash a company but this is an exception. I am so frustrated worth this horrible company. Internet with cable one is the most ridiculous thing ever. The customer service is rude and prices are high if my building would allow me to continue my contract with direct tv I would. I would be paying half the price of what I pay now for more features than what I have now. Picture quality is terrible and they have minimal hd channels on top of having no on demand yet they have an on demand button on the remote. To top it all off after waiting a week for the installation which was a done half Assad cost 45$ the tech shows up with no hdmi cable and trys to hook it up directly to the coaxial and is wondering why it doesn't work. I had to go purchase an hdmi cable on top of paying for one through cable one. Cable one has corned the market by paying the right politicians to not allow any other cable providers in the Fargo area. In America I thought that we a monopoly. I guess it's not what you know or who you know it's who you pay. read more

Cable one is a nightmare to work with. Their front desk staff never have useful information, and constantly pass responsibility to other departments. Customer service reps are consistently rude, and their speeds are consistently slower than advertised. The only reason they are still functioning in the FM area is because they were so well established in the first place due to an agreement with the city to create infrastructure. Hopefully midco wipes them off the map because they clearly stopped caring about customer service a long time ago. read more

Horrible. Switched from Direct TV to these clowns. Horrible programming and terrible everything. Lasted less than 1 month. Switched back to Direct TV and these clowns came out and UNHOOKED MY DIrect TV Cable! I had to have a service tech come out, break into their stupid box, and rehook up my DirectTV. The tech said it happens all the time! UGGH. This company is horrible. read more

I chose one star only because I couldn't chose half of one. Cableone provides horrible service! You can never get anyone on the line when you need to talk to someone. There is ALWAYS a line when you take time out of your life to go there, plus their hours are horrible. If by chance you actually get to talk to someone on the phone, you may ACCIDENTALLY be disconnected. The internet service is slow and you can never get a connection. Don't use cable one my mail if you have important e-mails, you can NEVER log on! Save yourself some time and energy, go somewhere else if you want good, quality service! read more

I agree with Cole. If you live in West Fargo or Moorhead go with Midcontinent at least for the internet they are cheaper and faster. Cableone has ridiculous prices, low data caps and high overage fees. If you are in Fargo there are other places that provide DSL for a fraction of the price and any dish tv will give you the same or more channels for the price. It sad when certain Cableone packages use "No throttling" as a feature but unfortunately that is only with a business package. Be cautious if you plan on getting something like the 50 Mbps plan and want to use Netflix. Your monthly data limit is 50 gig without an upgrade and while it may seem like a lot it gets used fast especially if you have a full family using it. read more

It's bad. Oh, it's bad. Your internet WILL be down at least once a day, ranging from around 20 minutes to several hours. You can call support, but just expect them to say "Unplug your modem and plug it back in again" because you know, you totally haven't tried that yet. When it's not down, half the time it will be as slow as the brain of the guy I just strangled in rage as I struggled to give this a bad review. Seriously, save your time and money and just go with MidContinent if you can. read more

I've had them for about a year and don't know why I kept them, besides the point that I couldn't find anyone else to set up a time for installation that worked for me. The service drops constantly, when I first called about getting their internet service I explicitly asked if there was a bandwidth limit and was told that there wasn't, that was a lovely little lie I found out about. Was told it would only be a little over $70 a month, turned into nearly $100 a month. And after I called and asked about disconnecting my service things just got worse, constant drops and disconnects in service, speed kept dropping and becoming unusable for hours at time. And when either I called or the roommate would call all they would tell me was that they found nothing wrong. Now recommend to everyone to not get it. Wish I could say this was unusual but after talking to coworkers who also use them, they all say the same thing. DO NOT GET THEIR SERVICE. read more
