My experience with Steen over the last few years has been excellent. I bought my first Kubota…read moretractor from a dealer near Savannah, back around 2015. I didn't know much about tractors, love the unit they sold me, but learned later I didn't get the best deal (the Savannah dealer). Had several horrific experiences with the Savannah service department. Like trailering my tractor there 3 times in 2 days after a botched oil change and service. They did nothing to make it right. They could have at least thrown in a cheap chainsaw, or even a hat! LOL Steen, on the other hand, gave me a great deal on a larger mid-size tractor, which I bought about 3-4 years later. Everything was as promised. Delivered for free. When I've had any issues, I can easily get Brian on the phone. Even had them install third function valves on the front of my smaller tractor. Was done on time and as promised. Has worked like a charm. Even though it's a 90 minute drive to Steen, versus a 25 minute drive to the Savannah dealer, I'm stuck on Steen. They are up front, honest, and do as they promise. I'm a customer for life. Jack Frost, Hardeeville SC

Bought a BX1850 about '09 from Steen. Had a water pump replaced in '10, '11 & '13. Took the…read moretractor in last year, 2017, around April for a complete fix up. I have changed oil every year, the hydraulic oil every other year (no attachment so not used a lot), changed and sharpened blades twice a year, and drained and replaced the radiator fluid every year. I finally got the tractor back in august of 2017. I was told that due to the engine overheating one cylinder had low compression. I asked if the water pump breaking could have caused it (overheated only once since and it was barely in the red). They said $4,000 to replace engine or would give me $1,500 on trade in. I wouldn't trust Steen anymore. On top of that they replaced all four anti-skid wheels while they had it. I have cut the grass 6 times at most since getting it back and now have to replace a second anti-skid wheel. Definitely looking at selling this junk and replacing it with one a company, and dealer, will stand behind.

I have a Briggs and Stratton portable generator that would not start. Its extremely heavy, so my…read morewife and I trying to load this into our SUV and driving all the way to a standalone small engine shop, and then wait 6 weeks for service, was not a great option. Jerry is easy to get a hold of and responsive by text. I really appreciated that he has a mobile service that could come to our house. It was $100 for the service call (and $50 to get my Husqvarna mower checked out at the same time, so kudos to him for investigating both issues and solving at least one of them.) He identified the problem for the generator as a bad carburetor from ethanol in regular gasoline ... this is certainly plausible and I saw the deposits in the carburetor myself. He recommend that I purchase a new carburetor and he would come back and install it. He did empty the generator of the old gas and put in fresher gasoline to which I had already added stabilizer. The new carburetor arrived about a week later and he came out a week after that to install, $90. When he came the second time to install the carburetor, he didn't bring anything to catch the gasoline and had to borrow a paint tray from me, and I had to dispose of the gasoline. During installation of the new carburetor, he broke a piece of the fuel valve. He said that the rubber hose fuel line and that metallic nozzle piece where the line connects get brittle over time, plausible for the rubber, a little less so for the metal but ok. He drove to Northern Tool, but they didn't have the fuel valve, so I had to order it myself. He showed me how the valve screws on, so it was something I could do myself, or he offered to come out. He didn't anticipate any problem with me installing the replacement fuel valve. He said he "guaranteed" the engine would start because it would start with starter fluid, and now has a new carburetor. The part arrived the next day and I installed it today. The engine still won't turn over and stops after a few seconds, even when I sprayed starter fluid. When I open the fuel valve there is a slight drip of gasoline from the carburetor. I messaged him by text and he was very quick to respond. He said it could be a bad carburetor. So, now I'm pretty frustrated. The process of getting him out, waiting on parts, and even doing some of the work myself has been going on for 17 days. While many of his explanations were plausible I'm finding it less plausible that I just happened to be so unlucky as to have a bad carburetor. I've asked for a RMA on the OEM B&S carburetor that I ordered, but I'm really frustrated with this whole experience and its looking like I'm going to have to find people to help me transport this thing to a small engine repair place. If that's the case, then JRs Mobile Mechanic and Small Engines wasn't able to solve my problem and its hard to recommend him at this time. I hate to knock small businesses, especially ones that provide an important service like mobile on site repairs, but when you can't solve my problem and I have to keep ordering parts, and you don't have the equipment to handle waste, then that's a problem.

Didn't let me know; just left me hanging. From this and other experience I can tell you this guy is pure nasty, inconsiderate and as rude as they come. Doesn't hesitate to yell at you and show his temper. Easter services missed because of him. And shoddy work to top it off. Horrible experience
