I agree with the other reviewer who said this is NOT a place that has junky arts-n-crafts local stuff. I've always been impressed with the quality of the items there. So much so, that when people started asking me about my clothing designs and where they could get them, my first thought was Sparrow Collective. I've never had a problem with the staff, they are always friendly and helpful. The items are very unique, one-of-a-kind; I really like their style. Update: December 2012 - I haven't brought my items to be sold here lately because the last time I did, they said they were out of season and wouldn't accept them. I might try again next summer, but the prices have to be marked up so high so that at least I make back what I put into them, so they don't sell well here. Perhaps I'll bring my lower priced items and see what happens. read more

Sparrow Collective is one of my favorite local shops for unique jewelry and gifts. I always tell my husband he can stop in and pick anything he wants for me for a birthday, anniversary, etc., and he knows I'll be happy! And there's great gifts for guys too - we got my brother-in-law a mason jar travel coffee mug that is durable and has cool leather details, and we even scored some adorable onesies for my newborn nephew. Sparrow Collective is one of Bay View's hidden gems. You can tell a lot of thought and love goes into picking all the items in the store. The store itself is really cute and there's always something new. I'd like to see more places like Sparrow in Milwaukee, I feel better spending money at businesses who support and promote other local artists and DIY-ers. read more

Remember when you were a kid, shopping with your mom at some horrible department store and when you got to some part of the store where anything was remotely breakable she'd snap "HANDS AT YOUR SIDES!". That's kind of how I felt inside Sparrow Collective. They have a ton of small, somewhat kitschy and totally breakable trinkets and gifts and my sasquatch ass felt like I was one wrong step away from tearing it all down. Most of the stuff here is for the she folk. Pillows and shit. Makeup, special little stationary, jewelry. You get the gist. They also have a small selection of mens products like pine tar soap, pint glasses (Because women don't drink. Or poop. Or so I've been told.), and t shirts. A lot of the gear here is Milwaukee or Wisconsin themed and fittingly so. Milwaukee is the greatest place in the world and everybody knows it. I scored a bottle of beard oil and a rad Wisconsin hoodie that says REPRESENT (as I am wont to do). This is an awesome little boutique and the perfect place to find a unique gift for those special persons in your life. Just don't fucking break anything. Your mother mill be pissed. read more

I did not have a pleasant experience with Sparrow. I purchased two overpriced tshirts there as gifts and was not impressed with the customer service. After trying to return the shirts, I was told that I could either have an exchange or store credit. I opted for store credit. Since I was returning 3 items, I was told that I would need to be given 3 separate store credit certificates. That hardly made sense but I went with it anyway. As the woman began the store credit process, she asked if I could please "just go look around" since it was going to take her awhile. I found that to be rude and inconsiderate. Overall, I was not pleased with this experience. In the past, I have enjoyed wandering through the store and purchasing their cute, local products. I think if they come up with a better system for returns and store credit I would be more willing to return. read more

I bought a pair of silver dangly earrings here for my sister-in-law. And I couldn't leave without geting a pair for myself, so I chose tiny peach roses. They cater to all different kinds of tastes and price ranges. The quality of the items are top notch. And there is so much to look at in the small space! Not just jewelry, but clothing, artwork, hair accessories... I always feel good about buying hand-made and supporting local artists, so I'll definitely be going back. read more
