I love visiting boutique shops when we go on road trips. A quick Yelp search pointed me to Sparrow Collective. This is a fun shop with lots of unique home goods and apparel for sale. You can also find nice souvenirs at Sparrow. On this visit, I went to their jewelry section and bought a quartz pendant and set of druzy earrings made by local and small business artisans. This cute little shop has some great gifts. They have everything from locally printed tees, to books, to a selection of local loose leaf teas and natural oils and perfumes. I ended up buying some roller ball oils (palo santo oil), headache relief essential oils) and received wonderful service. The shop is cute and cozy and close to a lot of other cool spots (coffee shops, etc). I'll be back to shop some more when I visit MKE. read more

Ahhh, shops filled with Knick knacks make the world go round. Loved this cute shop on KK in Bayview and it's sister boutique just 5 doors down from it. So many cute clothes, gifts, cards, crystals, hats, and so much more. I love little shops like these for grabbing a gift for myself and others. The products are top notch and I'm excited to rock my new mint green hat around town. A great options for local and unique items! Last time I went in was for a t-shirt swap, actually. I bought the shirt at a fair and wanted to change sizes. The business said Sparrow Collective carries their product so to swap it out there. Worked out great for me since I live close to Bay View. I ended up buying a few other items for myself, too! They had bundles of sage & wood pieces that you can burn at home (like incense) with shells to hold it and interesting little wooden stands. I love it! I stopped into Sparrow Collective for the first time on Small Business Saturday. What a great little shop! They have a nice collection of Milwaukee and Wisconsin items shirts, coasters, necklaces, home decor etc. They have a section of children's clothing. I especially liked their jewelry made by local artists. This store is packed floor to ceiling so do a few laps around so you make sure you see everything. I went here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! If you're looking for a local boutique feel to get all things hand-made and Milwaukee themed, this is the place to go. I went in looking for Christmas gifts, and I was able to cross so many things off my list! They offer a variety of items including clothing, jewelry, homewares, and cute "extras." The majority of items are hand-made or locally sourced, so prices can vary, but there are still plenty of items to get if you're looking for a lower price point. There are some truly unique items that you wouldn't find anywhere else, so it was fun to look around and find the gems (they also have literal gems and crystals if that's what you're in to). The staff was very sweet and helpful to customers with questions about the products available. I want to buy most of the things in this store. Sparrow has something for everyone - baby clothes, handmade bags, candles, lots of jewelry, neckties for the menfolk and tons of stuff for the home. Some of my favorites: *Golden Girls refrig magnets. Everyone needs these. *Some sort of grooming product called "Sex Hair". I assume it's something you spray in your hair to look sexy vs. ummm...basically anything else. Because that would be gross. *Baby hats with ears - I don't like kids but they look adorable in hats with ears. *Lots of Wisconsin themed items including a onesie emblazoned with "Made Locally". TMI. *Fun greeting cards with sayings like "Let's Get Together and Drink Beer and Eat Waffles". Sound advice right there. I left with some reasonably priced candles and a fun Halloween necklace. As others have noted, the staff here is "disinterested". Prices are reasonable and the store is fun to browse all the same. read more

STUFF than last I was there. Clothes, jewelry, art, cards, handmade lotions/soaps, stuff for kids, accessories, picture frames, neckties, handmade pottery... I could go on and on and on, and now, there's even more of it! Suffice it to say that this hyper-local, MKE-centric spot has something for everyone, and if you gift from Sparrow, you gift handmade and unique, which is always a good thing to do. Warning: this place is super dangerous. Every time I go in here, I leave with much less money than I had when I came in! Don't worry, it's not robbery but it is a "Here! Take all my money!" So many fabulous things about, and in this store, what's not to love? Everything is handmade, unique and showcases the efforts of local artists. There's baby clothes and accessories which are great for gift giving. There's original jewelry and witty magnets. There's tee shirts and beautiful scarves. Many items are repurposed; old tee shirts become scarves, worn lampshades are now wall hangings and used tires are eclectic bracelets and necklaces. No amount of pictures could do this wonderful little local store justice. You really need to make a trip there and check things out for yourself. read more

Love their jewelry selection - you can find something for everyone's type of style. They also have a fantastic selection of really unique cards. Take a peek in the back too - they have a small, but decent, selection of fabric and sewing supplies. When we went the credit card machine wasn't working, which was pretty inconvenient. I stopped in to look for a bridal shower gift for a friend, never having been in before. The store has a lot of really cute items, from jewelry to coffee mugs, planters, glassware, and local art. I really appreciate the fact Sparrow Collective promotes local artists, and a lot of the products available are Wisconsin and Milwaukee-themed. Unfortunately, I did not purchase anything on this visit; although I saw several things I thought would make a great bridal shower gift, the pricing was just too much. I try to shop local whenever I can and definitely value quality, however I found price range a little too high (i.e. $40 for a set of 4 coasters). I hope to visit again in the future if I am in need of a gift for someone, and hopefully find something a little more reasonable. read more

I've been shopping at Sparrow Collective since I moved to Bay View almost two years ago. For a small space they have curated a wonderful collection of jewelry, drink ware, to bags, other accessories, and Knick knacks. It's a fun place to look around, because everything is beautiful and looks of great quality. Most of my jewelry I wear has been purchased from here, so I will continue to go because they are always restocking their store with wonderful new goods. I recommend coming here if you're looking for cool local gift ideas. Again, for a small store their inventory feels unique and endless. Now this is why they get a three star rating as opposed to five; I consistently receive such a lack of customer service. Most of the time once I enter I get a forced and lack luster hello. Other than that they seem to almost go out of their way to ignore their customers. I don't expect someone breathing down my neck as I shop (no thank you), but as a shopper and spender of money I'd like a warm hi that I get from Ursa or Waxwing. Waxwing and Ursa have mastered welcoming their customers in a friendly manner while giving them space, yet noticing when they should interact with their customers. Sparrow Collective feels very cold in that sense. Even when I go to check out, they don't utter a word, nor smile. I always feel like I'm intruding. I shop there so often, and that's my experience every time. read more

Standard fare for a place like this, what I like to call a "Millennial's Hallmark"- you've got your locally made soap, your quirky pins and mugs, Schitts Creek and The Office references. There just aren't many places to buy a gift in Bay View. Thank God for Sparrow! When I have a friend coming in from out of town, I always check out Sparrow Collective for a cute "Milwaukee/Bay View" gift to help them remember their visit. I have purchased pint glasses, a pin, sticker and shirt from here in the past. All adorable! This Christmas, I knocked out 5 people's Christmas gifts in one stop. Several of them got cute Wisconsin tea towels, with a WI ornament attached. I got my sister a necklace there that she loves, and found two printed mugs for my husband and his friend, who are both artists. If they find the quality of work there to be good, you know it must be! These are local artisans, so I am happy to support them in any way I can, in an effort to keep my money in the community. That is very important to me. I also have had good service while there. While I haven't minded that other reviewers were upset about the lack of a greeting, I know that the store has been working on this, because I noticed the clerk went out of her way to wrap my stuff carefully, and be friendly while I was there, which was great. While I don't expect them to offer to help me while I am there, it was nice to get some extra attention at the holiday rush. read more

Very interesting unique gift shop stocked full of original local artist and artisan knickknack artsy stuff. Prices are very good considering the artistic quality. It's a tight little space so I wasn't comfortable the whole time in here, I felt like a bull in a ...well you get the idea. Still, I didn't break anything, the salesperson did, so that gives you an idea of how challenging the space is. If you're looking for some MKE or Wisconsin swag, Sparrow is your place. Nestled in the heart of KK, it's an easy stop when you're on a brunch wait list at any of the nearby restaurants. It's like a hipster accessory paradise, filled with goods from local artists. If you want to get a gift that screams Wisco, it's a great spot - I especially liked their glassware and baby outfits. (Babies reppin' MKE? Adorable!) The staff was nice, and the ambiance of the shop very chill. It's a bit of a tight space (the staff was also on ladders trying to swap out decor or something, so that was awkward to navigate around), so I felt a little worried that I was going to turn around and accidentally knock something over. Prices were hit or miss - some stuff was very reasonable, but obviously you pay more the more handcrafted an item is (which makes sense). (Note: I'll admit, I was a little disappointed - I've heard so many people rave about this place, and it didn't quite live up to the rep, in my opinion. So... 3.5 stars?) read more

This is a cute little shop and isn't far from the main KK corner in Bayview, so wander over once when you're in the area and see what you find. Most of their items were from local artists/local purveyors of various things which is nice, but certainly makes that adorable REPRESENT onesie out of my price range at $24 each. We did find a cute gift item for a friend, and if we had stopped in before we were almost done with our holiday shopping we might have picked up a few more. Lots of jewelry, some fun oddball items, a fair amount of lotions/soaps/etc that all lean a little mother-earthy, but that's probably good for all of us. Not a bad little shop! read more

This place is pretty awesome. I LOVE to go in here and I always bring friends. Everything is made by local artists and there are some very unique things here. It is a perfect place to buy gifts for people because you know they will not already have anything like it. As many have stated, this is not a "crafty" store. This is high quality stuff. The jewelry is my favorite part because there is such a wide range of really beautiful and unique things. I also love that most of the women's clothing is made from very soft materials. I have 2 pairs of leggings I got from there and I am always looking for more. Staff are nice and friendly and willing to give information about things. Their stock changes very frequently, apparently sometimes even daily. There is no reason not to stop back in every once in a while unless you are trying to save money. Things that aren't so great: I don't like is some of the wall hangings or prints they sell, to me, do start to go a little more "crafty". Some can be very overpriced and are absolutely not worth anywhere near the amount they're being sold. Another thing that is unfortunate is that because it is all hand made it's not always the most amazing quality. I had a necklace I bought break on my walk home from the store. The "charm" fell off the chain and I only noticed later it was gone. They were very nice about replacing it. I also had a ring break from simply pressing my thumb onto it. The ring in the photo was dropped a short distance, and the rocks in it broke... I was able to hot glue them together thankfully. So, unfortunately while I originally gave this place 4 stars... I have to change it to 3 just because the quality of a LOT of the jewelry I've gotten is not good. I am not a clumsy person, I am careful with my stuff, but honestly a lot of it has just broken for no reason. I love that on gallery night, they had up a lot of children's art. I think that was awesome and it just furthers my respect for the place. I also like that it is not too cramped inside. read more

Not a fan. I really want to like them but I just can't. Every time I pass the window or pop in I hope to find something cool. Nope. Half is ripped off of things you've seen in other stores or things you could see on Pinterest. Crystal magnets, Milwaukee pint glasses, bent silverware jewelry, iron on onesies, and a random smattering of "trendy stuff". Just because you add swear words to "inspiration" objects, postcards or shirts doesn't make it cute or trendy. It's rare that I find a store in which I can buy so many things for all sorts of people. This store is that. Especially if that special someone is an out-of towner, or someone that moved away from Milwaukee, this is the perfect place to get them a touch of home. Lot's of amazing jewerly, a good baby selection (for those hipster baby showers) and a lot of other great knick-knacks. The merchandise is for sure 5 stars. Only reason I don't give it five stars is that the woman behind the desk isn't always the friendliest. It's sort of hit or miss. I've been in Sparrow a couple times now and love going back because every time is a new experience with new art, soap, and other handmade goods. Sparrow has a lot of appeal to women-but there's also a lot of cool stuff for guys-hoodies, Milwaukee T's, beer soap/lotion/candles, beautiful local art and more. Sparrow has a great collection of Moot Soap-one of my favorite local handmade soaps. There's also a handful of other Moot goods: deodorant, oils, scrubs, etc. Sparrow is a tiny shop with a ton of charm. Give yourself a good chunk of time-there's a lot to browse and take in. I found Sparrow Collective on Instagram and was super excited to finally get there today. My fiancé and I went in with my sister (who is visiting from Denver) around 6:30 because I thought it would be a great place to find local gifts, art, souvenirs, etc. We hurried to get there before they closed and there was a "be back in 10" note on the door when we got there. So we were peeking in the window at all the neat stuff & wondering if we should come back tomorrow when someone came to the door and opened it. That's basically where the welcome ended, unfortunately. First I wanna say, we shopped for about 15 minutes and there were SO MANY GREAT THINGS. The store is small, but every time I turned around, there was something else completely great I hadn't seen yet. I had several items I wanted to buy for myself- a couple pieces of jewelry, some sweet Wisco-themed wall art, handmade soap that smelled amazing. You can find tons of fun gifts here, too, so I was thinking about my nephew's birthday coming up and a thank you gift I've been meaning to find, and so on... Mostly I was just trying to add up what I was about to spend and decide if I was going overboard. My sister was having a similar experience. So that's what made our visit there especially disappointing. The woman in the store didn't speak to us as we came in. She didn't respond to my genuine thanks for opening the door (I really was excited to check out this store, guys!). She didn't say hi, she didn't attempt to engage us at all except to tell us after we'd been there a little while that we should know they closed in 10 minutes. And that's when I put my purchases back and left. "Hey, how are you? Check out the cool stuff we just got in & let me know if you need something" goes a long way in making customers feel welcome and want to spend money. I didn't feel like she wanted us there. I wasn't about to bother her to ring us up. I made note of the artists I liked and I hope I can find their jewelry, etc, for sale somewhere else. read more

This little shop is such a gem! It's packed to the brim with treasures for everyone, and hold on to your wallets folks because I wanted to buy one of everything in the place. Even though it's a smaller space overflowing with awesome things, it's all arranged and displayed in a visually pleasing way. Customer service is always pleasant and efficient. Evidently they also offer a bunch of different workshops for fiber arts and metal work and any other medium of craftiness you could conceive of! It's in the adorable Bay View neighborhood with tons of great restaurants, shops, bars, and of course proximity to the lake. Definitely my go-to for thoughtful, one of a kind gifts!!! read more

Cool shop but lousy customer service. The shop has lots of unique items made by local artists which I love. I prefer to shop local and have been here a few times but the customer service is off putting. The person working each time has been different and they never say hello or engage customers. There is no "thank you" at checkout. They make you feel like you are a bother to them. I don't mind paying the higher prices of these small shops but do also expect to be treated as a valued customer. There are a number of similar shops in the Milwaukee area who understand customer service does go along way and that is where I will choose to spend my money in the future. read more
