I have been coming for a massage monthly for some time now. Over two years of monthly membership. I always look forward to my massages. I am doing another update considering what recently happened. A month ago I had an appointment. I got a call from Spavia that my masseuse was not going to be able to make the appointment. We were able to set up a quick appointment for that weekend. That day came around and I got a call a couple hours before the appointment. The new masseuse had an emergency was wasn't going to be able to make it. This wasn't the norm and they were happy to offer additional changes to try and make up for the situation. It was really nice for them to offer the options that they did. They say this doesn't happen often and felt bad. Here is the normal massage breakdown. Warmed massage tables call my name on a cold Iowa evening. Darkened hallways start to set the mood. Electric candles line the floor to help guide you to where you need to be. Once you are in the locker room you can change into your robe and slippers. This is not required with every service they offer. You have your own locker which you set the lock. They have 2 little curtained off changing rooms. The wall hooks have broken over time, but if I can I just use the roomy bathroom to change. Once you have all your personal items locked away you can step into the lounging area. 4-5 different places to sit. Electric fireplace on the wall. Some books, gentle music, little water fountain. All the things to help you relax. They have warming neck wraps and hot water for tea. If you are early enough for your appointment, then take advantage and chill. When your time comes you get called back. My personal preference is one individual for body massages. I have to book months in advance to make sure I am getting him. I dont want to share, but its Eddy. He is amazing. He listens to me and remembers my preferences. After heavenly treatment you are escorted back to the lounge. You can hang out and decompress or you can head out. As of my last visit in Sept '24 they just updated the furniture in there. It is not really comfy as before. I have tried another service here, but prefer my monthly membership booking a massage each time. Read less read more

The lack of massage during a body treatment is sorely disappointing. The pressure was too light to relieve any stress, except for the scalp massage that was nice. The gloves she wore irritated my skin. Her hands shook, like she was scared to touch me. They obviously have an esthetician doing body work, instead of a massage therapist. She never even touched my lower back or glutes and she accidentally poked my vagina twice during draping. The company called to say they would like to make it up to me, but when I called back the manager was out so I left a message and she never called back. Avoid this place. read more

My husband and I tried a membership for a couple months so we could take turns getting massages. He seemed to like his, but mine were just ok. They felt fine but the masseuse wouldn't really get any of my knots out so my body felt just as tense when the massage was done I wished they went harder. When I mentioned it during the massage, there was no change. Maybe I always got the tired person? But after several months we decided it wasn't worth the membership. read more

I went in yesterday for a treatment with Miranda. It was a salt stone massage. When I went in my knees hurt my elbows hurt my neck hurt and overall my body felt kind of bloated and uncomfortable. When I went to bed last night I realized that I didn't feel any of that pain anymore. Yes I support massages but I've never had this tremendous of a before and after feeling. I made an appointment on their app. When I checked the app a few weeks later there was no appointment. I booked another appointment and thought all was fine. The day before my appointment I received a confirmation phone call for it. All is fine. The day before my appointment Spavia calls and asks if I'm on my way to the appointment. I stated I don't have one today it's tomorrow. She stated that I have a massage. I explained that there wasn't any appointments in the app. She stated they had problems with the app and they did send me a confirmation email. I checked my email never received a confirmation of this appointment. Then they charged me for the appointment even though they admitted having issues with the app that did not show an appointment. So buyer beware as there are better places to get services done than Spavia! read more

My therapist was fifteen minutes late in arriving to Spavia. No big deal, life happens, but because I had to leave by the time that my massage was supposed to be done to pick up my daughter from school, I only got a 45 minute massage and they made me pay for the full 60 minute massage! Spavia took my last dollar today and never going there again. Hard to schedule. Didnt get my credits that was promised for my last massage after I canceled my membership when I scheduled with the previous manager. Massage today was good, but can get a good massage for less. More angry they didnt give me my promised credit after cancelling and trying to reschedule. read more

My experiences at Spavia Ankeny for massage have been excellent. When you come here for your 1st visit, you fill out a survey which covers most of your preferences from massage products, how much pressure, on down to whether you like some conversation or not at all. I really appreciate that touch! They save them to your file and make sure they adhere to them too! I have chronic pain and a history of cancer so stress and toxins can really affect my wellbeing. When I went into my massage yesterday, I had so much pain built up. Now I'm a little sore but I walked out so much more easily. My therapist worked out many knots. I consider this a medical necessity right now, but I also appreciate the relaxing retreat atmosphere. The price of a monthly membership makes the treatments as reasonable as I have found anywhere in the metro, and matches places that don't have as many amenities. The therapists are very kind and respectful, and I think I have found my favorite here, but all of the staff I have seen are so nice and do everything they can to make sure you enjoy your time there. I can't wait to try some other treatments like hot stone massage, or one of the wraps or facials! read more

This is a chain massage place along the lines of Massage Envy, Massage Heights, and Reset. But that is where the similarities end. Spavia Day Spa does not feel like a chain massage place. Instead it truly feels like a day spa experience you would find in Las Vegas or Miami or at a resort. There are separate men's and women's dress rooms. A small relaxing lounge for before and after the massage. What I really love are the different spa services. Want a hot stone massage? Check. How about a deep tissue massage? Check. Facial? Of course. Mix and match. Definitely available. And the staff is wonderful and experienced. They don't rush you and that just adds to the overall experience. read more

I always get great customer service when I walk into or am leaving this place. I do usually get the same therapist so I can't rate them all. This place is always clean and they make you feel like you're in the lap of luxury. Great pampering with wine, tea, or water. Heated powered folding tables and a luxurious day spa environment make Spavia my new favorite massage location. I enjoyed a fantastic 80 minute prenatal massage with Mandy today. Hands down the best massage I've had in Iowa and by far the most relaxing place I have visited. While the tables do not have holes for the belly, Mandy had me turn on both sides and snuggle up to a fluffy body pillow to provide a thorough back massage. Spavia is a small but very nice day spa with changing rooms, lockers, robes, showers and quiet, dark waiting areas with water and tea. It's easy to feel transported from the concerns and stresses of the day here. The service rooms are inviting with plush blankets and pillows, soothing music and great sound insulation. I never heard another client or service like I often do through the walls. Highly recommend if you are looking for a little retreat! read more

This place is so relaxing and professional. It's worth every penny. They take very good care of their clients. Their locker rooms and waiting area are both very clean with high quality robes and snacks and beverages to enjoy while waiting. I went for a bachelorette party and there was 12 of us. We each either did an hour massage or an hour facial. I did the massage with Eddie. He was fantastic! He worked on all my problem areas and made the experience very relaxing for me! First, let me say I was so looking forward to Sat. I have never had a bad massage in life. When you come in as a couple I would have 1) liked being in the same waiting room with and ending the same room. 2) I asked (3) times for him NOT to press so hard, he would lighten up, but then go back to being hard. I made a note on the paperwork that I had back surgery (I have had a massage since my back surgery), and not only did my back hurt(still does 3 days later) but my neck as well. 3) when we moved to my back, he didn't massage my legs, all he did was my neck and a little of my head. I have had many massages in my life and it just wasn't a good experience for me there. read more
