I want to preface this by saying I usually don't get professional massages and I've only been here once. But my experience was amazing and I loved every minute of it! I walked into a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Once you exit the lobby area and go to the back, the lights are dim. The changing area was clean, there was a locker to put my personal belongs in, and the robe and sandals were super comfy. There was a shower and a toilet and a waiting area outside the restroom with an electric fireplace on the wall. The massage itself was super relaxing and enjoyable. The woman who did my massage spoke softly asking me what areas I'd like her to focus on and what would be included in my massage. She gave me clear direction and privacy. She was firm, and worked out a knot in my shoulder and did a full body massage. There was calming music playing softly. At the end, they gave me a cup of tea to drink while I changed. I was not rushed in the beginning or the end. I would absolutely love to come here again one day for another massage. The main thing that stops me from getting massages on a more regular basis is the cost! read more

Got this for a birthday gift for my wife, below is her review. It was really nice when I filled out the questionnaire through the iPad, asking me what kind of music, drink and lotion I like to have during this visit. I was escorted to the women's locker room and I was asked if I would like to take a shower before starting my massage session. I took my hot shower and used their toiletries (body wash, shampoo and conditioner) plus their velvety brown robe plus their black sandals. My masseuse was Eddie and he played my ocean wave music and used the white ginger lotion that I picked for my massage. Eddie was very professional and I enjoyed his 60 minutes deep tissue massage . After the massage session was over I was offered with more ginger peach hot tea and I met him at the front desk. I definitely recommend anyone to come over here to pamper themselves. read more

I completed the intake twice. Both times I got an error message. I messaged in advance to make the team aware of this, and was told to try again.... Three white women came out to accost me and continue to refuse me service. In addition to refusing me service...they threatened to call the police on me despite the fact that I was just trying to understand why they still wanted to charge me for the session. Let it be know that's I checked all the messages I received and not a single one said that should come early. Also, another (white) client arrived four minutes late and they gave her no push back. This was such a distressing event for me - refusal of service, verbal threatening, mockery. I am not surprised to see your response given how your employees responded to me. Culture is top down. Wow! I routinely get massages to address back pain and migraines and I can honestly say that I've never had a better experience. If you're looking for deep tissue with firm pressure ask for SARAH! For someone so petite, she has incredibly strong hands (seriously, is she a superhero? She could crack granite with those things!). She expertly addressed my problem areas (neck/back/shoulders) and then found knots I didn't know I had (shins/forearms/hips) and masterfully pummeled them into submission. All of the staff I have interacted with here have been fabulous. The last two times I went, Kristina was at the front desk and was super helpful showing me the ropes. I've gotten massages from Eva and Barbie, both were amazing. Eva in particular was especially good because she has different styles of training including acupuncture pressure points and I felt like I had a whole new face/head! There is a relaxation retreat area stocked with water, variety of teas, mints, and lavender scented neck pillows in a warmer. Amidst comfy chairs are tables with a sand zen garden, coloring books, and easy reads on happiness and such. Everywhere in the facility there is relaxing music. The facility is new as of winter 2018 and everything is clean and well thought out. The products seem wonderful (and good for sensitive skin), the walls are sound proof thus far, and scheduling is easy either on the phone or on the MindBody site. Despite me coming in for the first time user deal, I left with a membership (first time ever) and I have been back multiple times since with plans to go at least monthly. Wonderful day spa! I went and received an hour facial and hour long massage. When you arrive they allow you to pick the type of spa music you would prefer to listen to while you are there. They have several options, I believe I picked an ocean theme. They also give you several options to customize your experience. If you do not want your person to talk that is an option too. You get the opportunity to smell different scents that they will use for the massage if you would like. You are taken to a changing area. They provide you with a locked area for your clothes and purse. You pick out a robe and slippers and wait in a relaxing waiting room area. There is tea, heated neck wraps, soothing music, dim lighting, and a variety of relaxing sitting activities (adult coloring, sand, reading material) while you wait. My massage and facial were relaxing. Overall I would come back to Spavia when I need a day to myself. They have a variety of monthly memberships. Seemed reasonably priced for a day spa. read more

I first visited Spavia Ann Arbor in February 2019, just as a one-off "treat yourself" massage. However, I was so impressed not only by the service I received, but the overall ambiance and attractiveness of the retreat room and the bathroom/locker room, that I ended up deciding to purchase a membership! I am not one who usually does something like that, but I felt the service and overall atmosphere of the space kept me wanting to come back. Monthly massages are also a way I've chosen to invest in both my physical and mental health. I look forward to coming every month! I also want to say that every staff member I've interacted with, whether it be the employees at the front desk or the hardworking masseuses, have always been incredibly kind and respectful. I always feel very comfortable and relaxed whenever I step into Spavia. I also love that they encourage you to come early and stay longer after your massage so that you can enjoy the calm peacefulness of their retreat room! While in there, you can sit in your cozy robe with a warm lavender scented neck wrap, sip on your choice of multiple types of tea, or indulge in a few of the delightful tea mints they always have on hand. All this while sitting in a room with calming light, relaxing music, and a bubbling water fountain. The ambiance can't be beat! I walked in for my appointment and they didn't have it on file. I was able to get in an hour and a half after my appointment for part of what I had scheduled. During my facial the clinician left on my eye makeup so after I had black under my eyes. They offered a free body wrap but gave it after the facial so I showered off my product from the facial- during both the facial and body wrap my chest and back area were never serviced. I was in the area traveling for work when I was suddenly hit by one of my chronic migraines. I was in pain, experiencing vision aura, and dizziness. I called and Spavia was able to get me in for a deep tissue massage immediately. I was greeted by friendly staff and their waiting retreat area was wonderful. I enjoyed a comfy robe, green tea mints, and a hot pack for my neck all before my massage even started. Barbie, my masseuse, was a god-send. I recently came here for a massage and fascial when I first walked in I felt like I was being judged in a sense, and they kept looking at me and my mother in a horrible way. Now I paid about 260 dollars for both me and my mom, and for the experience it's definitely not worth it! My mom was extremely disappointed with the massage she gotten from kelly she explained, "it was like she was rushing and barely put pressure and she just felt like she was rubbing her back with lotion." I mean you pay 80 dollars alone for a massage and they don't even put in the effort. Honestly, I consider that extremely rude! I was worried that the pressure used would be too intense since I'm pretty sensitive to that kind of thing, but it felt really great and wasn't painful at all! I was having some low back pain. He took the time to really understand where the pain was and explained the treatment before he began. I received a gift card for the rejuvenate package for my birthday and I was incredibly excited to check out Spavia. As an Ann Arbor resident I have a high level of respect for the businesses in Arbor Hills (aka the MILF mall), as they all tend to be high end and reputable. Making the appointment was easy, and the customer service rep I spoke with was very knowledgeable. When I arrived I was welcomed and ushered right into the retreat area to get changed and relax until my appointment. I was surprised to find how small the retreat area and changing room was, that is the reason for the 4 star rating. They are keeping things to a minimum during COVID, and it was still cramped with only 3 people. So unfortunately the "retreat" was not very relaxing. Other than that, my facial with Julie was incredible, she was very informative and helped me to understand my skin better. She also did my body wrap which honestly felt a little rushed, but I have nothing to compare it to and 2 days later my skin still feels AMAZING. Abe did my deep tissue massage and it was phenomenal! I asked for firm pressure and he really listened to and worked on my problem areas. I will be returning, and getting my husband the same package for his birthday coming up! read more

You can show up early and begin your relaxation in the amazing retreat room-not a waiting room. The facilities were clean and nice with a small room for you to relax, drink tea or water, and put on a warm neck pillow. Robes and sandals were provided and they have a shower if you need it. I had a wonderful facial by Sharon and she gave a nice upper body massage. I'd highly recommend her! The overall three star rating because of my massage therapist. I think her name was Messiah. It was one of the worst massages I've ever had. It was not relaxing at all as I kept thinking about how bad it was. I asked three times during my session that I wanted the pressure to be firmer but it really didn't make a difference. It mostly felt like her just running the oil on my body with the occasional pressure when she uses her arm instead of her hands. I was informed that she is a new massage therapist and graduated not too long ago. I complained to the receptionist and she just advises that I choose someone else next time (like Andrea who my sister and mom really liked) and get a deep tissue massage. read more
