i've had half a dozen massages at half a dozen spas/studios in ann arbor. i knew it was going to be great when i had to bob and weave through chinese lanterns just to get in the door. then they don't speak much english (which for me means "SCORE!" they're good enough to maintain repeat customers without ever having to assimilate!) . My 60 minute $65 massage included way more than I thought it would. hot stones, hot oil, acuppressure, reiki, and when i saw the bars running over the ceiling in the massage room i was like YES! they walk on backs!!! Need a last minute massage when I went to a business trip in Ann Arbor, was able to book and appointment with Mei within the hour. Mei is a very friendly lady. She took the time to find out my needs and the massage was heavenly. The deep tissue full body massage allows me to relax like never before and I felt amazing afterward. The best part was tremendous work on my shoulders, which are always stiff, tight and sore. She did an exceptional job on them! Really happy with my experience here! Absolutely no English. I asked about 6 times to wait for the person that helped me last time (I knew she was helping someone else). She kept smiling and saying "yes", but ended up walking me in the room And giving me the massage herself. It was terrible, absolutely no pressure, even though I paid for deep tissue. I kept asking for her to push a little harder, she said ok and went on like she was. They also charged me twice. The first time the receipt jammed. I saw the charge was approved and told her not to run it again but she couldn't understand me. Now I have to go back and figure out how to get my money back. I just went here for the first time and was glad they are open Sundays. When I walked in I was greeted by Amy and shown back to a room. The place is nice and clean. I got a wonderful hour long massage. She used good pressure, I like a deep tissue massage. She even used hot stones, a nice oil, and a wipe down with warm towels. Poor massage, too expensive, and they have a mandantory 15% gratuity. Just say the massage costs 80 an hour not 70 and include the mandantory tip. You would be well served looking elsewhere for a massage from someone who actually wants to help you feel better. read more

I had a massage here about a year or so ago. It was THE worst massage I've ever had. I actually tell the story of my visit to warn others not to get massages here. It goes something like this: I walk in through something that seems like it should be and entrance with a sheet hanging in my face. A woman who seemed irritated with my presence asks,"What do you want?". I said,"I would like to have a massage, what options do you have?" She lazily flops her hand up at a menu on the wall. So I said,"O.K. can I get an oil massage with the back walking?" "O.K., come."....She led me down a very creepy and dark hallway to an even creepier room and said "Take off all clothes lay on stomach"....I thought to myself "Oh, here we go..." ,already feeling pretty tense and feeling about as hopeful as a dead rat. I layed there butt-naked in a room with a sheet for a door. Someone walked in in the MIDDLE of my massage speaking Chinese. I got a 30 minute massage and about 15 minutes of that massage was getting slapped on my buttcheeks. I was so disgusted. The woman never walked on my back. I left feeling violated, irritated, more tense than I walked in, and just pissed. This massage wins THE WORST MASSAGE EVER. read more

I stumbled upon this place one day looking for massage when most places are closed (a Sunday afternoon). At first I was a little skeptical because of its location, but immediately I was greeted by two friendly women. Although their English is very limited (all they can understand is what type of massage you want and how many minutes you would like), they are very skilled in massage therapy. I always feel very refreshed after leaving. They are great at deep tissue massage, but if you don't let them know to lighten up a little you may end up a little bruised. After visiting Mei massage I'll never schedule an appointment for an overpriced massage again. They are open 7 days a week and literally charge a dollar a minute. I would give it five stars, but minus one star for the environment. It isn't a traditional spa or salon setting. I think it used to be an old office, but it's very clean! read more

I went for a 60 minute massage at Mei Massage today. My doctor had recommended that it would be a good idea to seek massage treatment for a medical condition. I was a little nervous because I had never had a professional massage before. Also, I am a considerably overweight and somewhat modest, so I was a little concerned that it might be an uncomfortable experience since you do have to get the massage while you are naked. I couldn't have been more comfortable and the person who performed my massage, a mature woman, made me feel totally at ease before, during and after the massage. My body feels amazing and it was so nice to have all of my muscles worked on. I will be going back often! I can't recommend this place highly enough! read more

This place is wonderful! Walk in friendly. The people there are very kind. Although there was a language barrier the massage therapist I saw located exactly where I needed the most work with no issue and was very attentive on pressure amount asking occasionally if it was to hard, or if I was ok. This is because she said hard, medium, or soft and I went with hard, I have a very small body frame so in certain areas are more delicate. I went with the 70 dollar hot oil massage, and I am very pleased and will be returning for sure. Remember to tip, it's a ten dollar tip minimum. However, if you can afford to I suggest to give more. Went there for the first time with a friend today. The pricing was only slightly more expensive then other places at $70 an hour. The woman had me undress down to my underwear. I didn't get a blanket or a towel over me which I thought was a little strange. After a couple minutes the woman ripped my underwear off aggressively and threw them on the floor. She started rubbing my legs and butt extremely close to my vagina. At one point she did touch my vagina. My friend who was in the other room and that the woman massaging her did the same thing except she was also spreading her butt cheeks. After being sexually assaulted by these women, we were about he walk out the door when one of the women stopped us and pulled out a sign from behind the counter and demanded that we tip them at least 15%. I've never been hit with a hidden fee after getting a massage before. Definitely would never recommend mei massage to anyone. I have never felt so violated in my life. read more
