The shop and everyone in it is great & very helpful. I just want to shout out Anthony. Although I went in just to get some script tattoos he absolutely killed it. He worked to make sure we got the exact font and size that I wanted and also didn't get annoyed when I had him move the tattoo placement a few times. I have two others script tattoos on my body and will definitely be going to him to have him fix/touch them up. Called in today to see if I could schedule an appointment for my next piece fully expecting to be getting it weeks from now. Got a call back 10 mins later whilst writing the email to request an official appointment. The front desk girl remembered my name after I had only said it once and told me I could come in to show Steve my design idea. Although my idea was very broad and I wasn't even sure exactly how I wanted it to end up looking Steve immediately sat down and started putting a design together for me. He spent a good 20 mins drawing it out and although what he brought me was sick it wasn't exactly what I wanted and once again no questions asked he went back to the drawing table for me. 20 mins later came back with exactly what I was looking for. Keep in mind this it's after 7 pm at this point and he very easily could have convinced me to just schedule an appointment or go home and think it over. He could tell I was a bit nervous as I had no anticipation of getting a tattoo today and he put absolutely no pressure on me in any direction. After scratching my head for a bit we decided to go for it. Steve absolutely killed this tattoo and blew my expectations out of the water! Dude had a light hand and the line work was deliberate and efficient. Pretty large piece and it took him less than an hour. Most satisfying experience I have had to date in any tattoo shop. Speakeasy is comfortable and inviting to all types of customers would not recommend any other place in Boone! Also only charged me $160 when I was fully anticipating to spend at least $200-300 read more

This place was terrible. The customer service is horrible and I never plan on going back. I was going in for something I didn't know if I would be able to get done for a walk in appointment and had a couple of question to see what I could do to get it. I was visiting and wanted to see if they could take me for a walk in and I told them from the beginning I didn't think I would be able to get something like that done on a whim but it was worth just asking about it. They were immediately rude and unprofessional about it all and made my friend and I feel very stupid so we left. I originally had a good experience there will my first tattoo but this was terrible. The team that was there made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I was very taken back by their actions considering how great of a time I had the last time I was there. So I made an appointment with Mark while I was in Boone, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Mark was so so nice and he's a super talented artist. He's also really fast and he made the experience a 10/10. I gave him an idea of what I wanted and he came out with something 50x better and more beautiful than what I expected. My tattoo was super special to me because the lettering is in my family's handwriting, and Mark really went out of his way to make sure that it turned out exactly how I wanted it. This was my first tattoo, and he made sure that I was comfortable at all times. This place is horrible. I have gone into the shop on three spectate occasions to be bombarded with condescending attitudes and obscene price rates. The staff is all in their early 20s and act as if they have been tattooing for decades. If you go here expect to feel ridiculed for your ideas and leave with a dry wallet. Every time I returned I was hopeful for a better experience and was let down. They are unaccommodating, inexperienced, ignorant and take full financial advantage of being one of the few tattoo shops in the area. Don't waste your money here. read more

So, my daughter was starting college and decided that she wanted to get a tattoo. We did some research and decided that Speakeasy Tattoo Co had the best reviews. So we went there to make an appointment. Much to my disappointment they were not able to get her in before I had to leave for home. I was really worried because she is only 18 and I really wanted to make sure that she was treated well. Come to find out I had nothing to worry about. She had Cutty as her artist and not only did Cutty treat her really well but she did an amazing job on her tattoo. Cutty did such a good job that my husband actually approved. I'd just like to say that I dropped into the shop to get a price quote on a tattoo and I talked to a blade man with tattoos on his head, after being completely rude and cutting me off multiple times, losing focus when another client came in, and telling me that my idea would turn out horrible (before he even let me explain myself completely) I will have to say that I will most definitely not be coming back for a tattoo. I think you should most certainly talk to your employees about good customer service, because essentially, I am paying their paycheck. read more

I can't say enough about Speakeasy. My tattoo is gorgeous, but aside from that very important fact, the place is also SOOOO clean and pleasant, the staff are friendly and helpful, and my artist was not only talented, but also a really nice guy to have to spend several hours with (Marky, visiting artist from Jacksonville--Wow). The atmosphere is welcoming and cool, and I just don't think you can do better. This isn't just the best tattoo parlor in Boone--this would be an excellent tattoo parlor in a large city, as well. I'm 50, and this was my first tattoo, so I was a little intimidated until I got in there. Shouldn't have wasted the anxiety. I now have a kick-ass tat of a 40's pin-up style Wonder Woman on my forearm and a great experience. Can't beat it. read more

The owner is a complete jerk and I felt like from the get-go he was confrontational and not willing to work with me in terms of the design. I told his wife, who works at the front, exactly what I wanted and she told me the owner, who did my tattoo, would work on the design before my appointment. So when I went in for my tattoo I found out that he did not even look at the image I brought in or even attempt to change it. Then he argued with me about how he didn't want to change it... but that was the agreement we made in the first place! I went ahead and got the tattoo but I wish I had not. They were more concerned with insulting my previous tattoo and artist than with my actual question. I went prepared to spend money in the shop, but left feeling insulted and certain they will not get my business. I got two small tattoos at the same time from speakeasy. When I went in to be tattooed they were clean and professional. I selected reddish-brown ink and was informed it would fade eventually and I may have to get it touched up years down the road. My tattoo looked great for about three days. On the fifth day I was concerned b/c of how faded one of them had become, as well as there being holes in the line work. I followed everything they said as well as what the aftercare sheet instructed me to do. I went in and spoke with the guy that tattooed me to see why fading was occurring so quickly and/or to see if this was a normal reaction. The guy was extremely condescending and rude. While I was talking to the "artist" that did mine, another asked him if the ink was henna. Obviously they are ill informed or equipped for what is supposed to be their profession. I've never experienced such poor customer service than I have at this establishment. I wouldn't recommend speakeasy to anyone for fear of poor quality work and nonexistent customer service. Needless to say I won't be coming back and go elsewhere to get my touch up. read more
