She directed us through the dining room to the patio which faces the main road and the parking lot. She put down the menu and our silverware onto a filthy dirty table and I asked if we could sit on the back patio. She said no -- I said I'm not sure we'll eat here because it's getting hot here. I did not point out the filthy table. She sent over a waitress and it was 1035am and so we could only choose the breakfast and I said I was interested in lunch. She said she would be back later. Looking at the table. It has visible food and sauce on it as well as the other tables on this patio area as well as empty beer bottles. Not inviting whatsoever. None of the tables have been wiped down today. the umbrellas were not put up and it was hot and sunny. The host came back and let me know. Only service dogs can be on the back patio. My dog is a well behaved retired service dog so I feel punished. Please reconsider why only service dogs can be on the scenic and shady back patio while people with pets must sit on the dirty, hot and neglected front patio facing the parking lot and main road.

We ordered takeout from this restaurant and so I cannot speak to the dining experience. We arrived around brunch time, and it was around then that people slowly began to trickle in on the weekend. Of note, this was the only restaurant that comes up when you search "restaurants" on google maps in Cheyenne Crossing in the Black Hills in case anyone has trouble finding it on google maps. In addition, there is no service here by the way. The restaurant is attached to the gift shop, and there is a small gas station right outside as well. We just ordered their Indian Taco, which is basically a huge piece of thick frybread with various nacho toppings such as ground beef, sour cream, tomato, lettuce, cheese, and salsa. While it costs about $15, the size of this Indian Taco can feed you at least 2-3 meals, depending on how hungry you are. The takeout was quick to come out, and while we waited, we enjoyed some of the table games (nail balancing game, marble game, etc).

The atmosphere was cozy, service was excellent and the food was delicious. The grilled cheese sandwich was larger enough for two, the chicken fried steak will add 5lbs to your belt line, the club was flavorful, French Dip was dripping with melty cheese and debris, and the calamity sandwich was excellent, really enjoyed the added flavors brought in with the use of green chili's to the spread. Warmed up next to the fireplace with a nice cup of hot chocolate before heading back onto the trails. A must stop if your out riding in the hills!

It's a must try,if you like scallops..also we were very impressed with their generous servings and wine pours..oh yes !! and do try the Buffalo Stew...very very good...if you're in the area drive up the canyon and treat yourself to a great meal and beautiful scenery.
