    Here we are again...yet another month later. I have once again received both a text and an email…read more"bill" for a negative balance that has been promised to have been refunded multiple times. Today is 5/17/2026.

    I am not sure how this company is allowed to remain licensed. My phone has called 911 three…read moretimes--once in the middle of the night in the summer and then again recently-- and once during the day in summer. It was supposedly "fixed" after the first two occurrences but was apparently not. When I first called in July, the customer service representative was shockingly rude. Imagine a parent pointing their finger and scolding a child--that demeaning, disrespectful tone--because I insisted a repair technician come out immediately rather than waiting days, given the unnecessary drain on police resources. This is Windstream's brand of customer service. When the company refused to take the seriousness of a police-related emergency call seriously, I reported them to PUCO. I then learned that my neighbor had the exact same issue the prior week. Despite this, Windstream told me I would have to wait the standard allotted time for repairs, with no exceptions. When this happened again recently and the police once more showed up at my home, I called Windstream and was told the earliest they could send someone out was THREE WEEKS. At that point, I contacted PUCO again and shortly after canceled Windstream altogether without any further ado. Done. No pleading, no more calls to them, nothing. I will say this: the representative who handled my phone cancellation was exceptionally kind and personable. He sincerely thanked me for being a loyal customer for decades. This company has had ongoing issues for years. A few years back, I contacted a specialist because certain local numbers would not go through--she had no idea why. The repeated 911 calls were the final deal breaker. It is nearly impossible to speak to a live person about serious issues, and requesting an expedited service appointment simply is not an option with them. I am saving a lot of money now, and good riddance. I also dropped their internet service this past summer due to constant connection drops, buffering, and absurdly low speeds. I switched to Spectrum and have been very, very happy--I can actually get work done without my internet going in and out. The internet was another problem Windstream never managed to fix. Technicians would come out and randomly check or change things without truly understanding the problem. I strongly suspect ongoing infrastructure issues. To top it off, I was promised fiber service for months. The date kept getting pushed back until someone finally admitted, "You aren't getting fiber." That was the moment I switched internet providers. Hallelujah.
