We called Speech Perfect because we were really undecided on how to address our 5 month old son's tongue tie. Gaby talked to my wife on the phone for 20 minutes and was extremely helpful, not even pushing us to book an appointment but truly just trying to help. We ended up scheduling an appointment for the next day. We came in with so many concerns and questions and a lot of anxiety around the decision of whether or not do a frenectomy. Both Gaby and Maria (occupational therapist) took their time with us, did a very thorough assessment with our son, made us feel a lot more at ease about the whole process and were extremely informative. They were so good with him and knew exactly what to look for. They shared lots of context and experience with us along the way. We felt like they had a very human and unbiased approach to everything, including sharing their own personal experiences as parents themselves. We came away feeling at peace about what to do next, which for us was to not to do the surgery and just focus on developmental exercises at home. The office was really cute, clean, and had a nice atmosphere too. My wife and I walked out and immediately said we have to write a review because it was such an incredible experience. We found Gaby in June of 2023, shortly after our son turned four, and from their very first meeting, she made an immediate and comforting connection with him. She was incredibly kind, patient, and intuitive, which put both our son and us at ease. After just a few sessions, we began noticing our son using more language and becoming genuinely excited to communicate what he was learning with Gaby. He started expressing his wants and needs more confidently, which was such a meaningful milestone for our family. Gaby has truly been a godsend. Gabbriella and Robin are amazing. My daughter has thrived so much under their care. Highly recommend, the provided school district speech therapy is not enough especially for those who need their children to thrive and there is no better highly recommended place than Speech Perfecr therapy. Gaby is amazing! She is so patient and sweet with my son as he goes through myofunctional therapy for a tongue tie. She is creative in how she incorporates the speech practice element into regular play. He looks forward to going every week. Her communication about what we needed to do at home and how to do it was excellent and easy. She conferred with our pediatric dentist on the best timing during his treatment to do the actual frenectomy and time the subsequent sessions, as these things have to happen days apart. I had been taking my 4yo to another speech therapist for articulation problems for a whole year with no improvement. Week after week, it was the same 30 minutes of working on 'k' and 'th' sounds, then getting sent home with flashcards and a bill. I was beyond frustrated with the lack of results, as was my smart and hard-working son. I knew it wasn't for lack of effort and I wanted his speech to be fully comprehensible before he started kindergarten. That's when I found Speech Perfect and decided to stop the insanity by getting a second opinion. Within five minutes of our consult with Gaby, she pointed out that she was not seeing much movement of the tongue. Born with a tongue-tie, my son had previously had a frenectomy performed at just 10 days old and we assumed that was the end of that. Gabby was the first and only person who informed us that tongue-ties can grow back! I was in shock at how many health professionals had failed us over the years. From the pediatrician to the ENT to the dentist to our former speech therapist, everybody had downplayed this problem and said he'd grow out of it. Trained extensively in Orofacial Myofunctional disorders, Gabby's opinion was that my son would benefit greatly from orofacial/myofunctional therapy as well as another tongue-tie release. The consult was eye-opening and I knew we had come to the right place. Essentially, no amount of traditional speech therapy was ever going to do anything for my child. Gaby completely shed light on the mysteries surrounding our son's articulation problems -- an inability to differentiate completely his jaw from his tongue. His crossbite, high-arched palate and mouth breathing were also side effects of an attached tongue. Gabby referred us to The Breathe Institute and while we waited for an appointment with Dr. Zaghi, she started working with us on (what we hoped would be) pre-operative treatments. Needless to say, I immediately divorced our former speech therapist. A few weeks after we started working with Gaby, we went in for a consult with Dr. Zaghi who confirmed my son had a Grade 4 tongue-tie (the most severe form of ankyloglossia). Dr. Zaghi performed the lingual frenectomy the same-day and we continued seeing Gaby 1-2 times per week for post-frenectomy therapy while keeping up with the home exercises she prescribed. Gaby's expertise in orofacial and myofunctional therapy is evident. With clear treatment goals, Gaby knows exactly which tools and exercises are going to reap the most benefits when it comes to myofunctional insufficiencies. She has laid out a detailed roadmap with desired benchmarks as it pertains to strengthening and conditioning the tongue, jaws and lips. We look forward to our weekly visits at the pristine, warm and welcoming Speech Perfect offices. The sessions are rigorous but infused with fun, the latter of which is essential for keeping a 5 yo boy engaged. We are beyond grateful that we found Speech Perfect and I have no doubt that myo therapy with Gaby has, and will continue to be, life changing for our little one. Just three months into our Speech Perfect journey with Gaby, we have seen drastic and marked improvements in our son's tongue mobility (now fully detached), jaw profile, smile alignment, chewing habits, and nasal breathing! He is naturally keeping his mouth closed more now that his tongue is free and he is re-learning how to breathe through his nose while keeping his tongue in rest position. He's demonstrating an increase in articulation stimulability thanks to muscle and tone strengthening. But what makes me the happiest is seeing his confidence grow more and more each week. Gaby is fully committed to her work in the orofacial/myofunctional arena and she genuinely wants to effect change in her young clients. I genuinely cannot say enough wonderful and positive things about Gaby. My daughter's preschool had recommended that I sign her up for speech therapy. I don't believe I have enough stars. Knowledge, Patience, Love are just three things that ran to my mind when I think about our speech therapist Gaby. When she met my son about a year ago he was wiggly with no words. She bought him a little seat to sit on during sessions, worked around his needs and wants along with his toddler mood swings. Before we knew it our son took off with speech. It has been a year he is starting to speak in sentences, request things and answer questions!
