Lots of CIA and NSA agents come here, hence the name - Spiedway. This gas station is a total godsend. You emerge from the tunnel and it's $0.80 cheaper than the one right on the other side of the street, a Shell. I don't know how or why but it's cheaper than it was in Manhattan by a mile and even cheaper than the cheapest one in Queens as well. I was very happy about that and I got gas here. This is my favorite gas station in Jersey City/Hoboken. Not only do they accept credit cards; Speedway does not charge extra if you decide to use your credit card. This is especially helpful if you have a credit card that gives you any percentage of cash back. Speedway is usually .30 cents less than its competitor Exxon right next door. Gas station attendants are always friendly and courteous. The location is a bit difficult to pull out of since it's a one-way. Be sure to download the Speedway app and ask attendant for a free Speedway card. Speedway card is a great way to rack up points toward free gas and food and beverage. About a week before the start of each month the APP allows you to select a monthly perk. Since I usually only purchase gas, I always select the gasoline perk which gives me an additional 200 bonus points each month toward free stuff. It's about a 2% return, so it does take some time to earn a $5 gift card. They went on to ignore additional emails and left me with a serious repair bill. If you care about your car avoid Speedway gas stations at all cost. They will not make it right or even bother to reply to you if something goes wrong. read more

Something not right here. I put gas almost at empty last night and usually I would get around 376-380 miles when filled. I came out with 354 miles. There is a good chance that this place uses the "watered down" gas. Would definitely not recommend anyone to put gas here. read more

This station has the cheapest gas price in the Holland Tunnel area. I always stop at this gas station to fill up on my way back from Hoboken. They charge you the same price for either cash or credit. read more

Cheap.. Cheap.. Cheap! Always cheaper then the other guys.. And their Gas couldn't be any much different. The full service is great too! Sometimes it's too cold to step out or get to rainy! Nothing really Spectacular about this Hess. Doesn't have a convenience store like many gas stations now do. It's the first gas station you see when you get out of the Holland Tunnel. The lady that works the pumps in the morning is a real sweetheart, I gave them an extra star just for her. read more

1/13/14 That morning there were two Hispanic male employees. They both laughed and made fun of me after I expressed to be Cuban and asked "Roberto" ( as he called himself) to stop mumbling words in Spanish because I was able to understand him perfectly. Roberto appeared to be upset bc I didn't hand him my credit card right away and he had to use a key to open my gas compartment. At first, I spoke to Roberto in English and he said he didn't understand a word. I then said it was his duty to speak the language and he should request more training from his employer or find another job if he was unhappy working for the gas station. Roberto said to me in Spanish:" My boss already knows that. I tell him all the time. I don't speak English and do you think I will be here dealing with a bunch of pigs if I had a choice to leave this job and go somewhere else." I was shocked. My answer to Roberto was that he was not attending pigs. A pig doesn't go to a gas station. That we are called customers. I simply told Roberto he should represent the Hispanic community better. That's when I said I was Cuban myself even though I was able to conduct my business in English as well. At that moment Robert started laughing and said that was a lie. Literally called me a liar and said no one would believe me because Cubans don't speak Spanish either well or at all. That only the people from Puerto Rico speak English and Spanish properly in the US. I couldn't believe my ears. I asked Roberto if he could tell me where I was from instead, since he obviously had an opinion about my origins, yet was unable to deliver a simple business transaction in the standard business language of the US. PS: Robert claims to be from Puerto Rico. If this Roberto is not a moron...or something else at least I can say he is not fitted to represent any company that makes money by offering hospitality and customer service to the people of the NY-NJ area. read more

I went to this Hess today around 12-12:30 pm driving my son to where he lives about 5 miles from there...so I go to the window to pay for the gas and the man was inside messing with his cell phone...I told him that I wish to purchase $40 worth of gas he then very rudely stormed out the door and order me to get back in my car...I was wondering was that part of his job description to rudely order people around, so I asked him what was his problem? Then I saw the lady at my car ready to pump my gas as I tried to hand her the money he told her not to serve me...so I when down the street and filled up there...I been to this place lots of time usually early in the morning, where they seem to be always nice....This guy should clearly not be working with the public...I will be by passing this station for now on. read more
