While preparing to travel overseas for work, I was required to obtain a dental examination and X-rays for medical clearance. During my initial appointment, the female dentist did not personally review my clearance paperwork with me. Instead, she directed a hygienist to complete the evaluation. The hygienist documented that my upper wisdom teeth were symptomatic and recommended their removal, but no explanation or context was provided. Before I left the office, an appointment was scheduled for the extraction of my wisdom teeth. At the time, I was confused by the recommendation. My wisdom teeth were not causing me any problems, and I did not understand why removal was being suggested. Because the information documented on my clearance paperwork appeared to indicate that extraction was necessary for my departure, I spent nearly a month attempting to contact the office for clarification. I lived approximately three hours away and repeatedly called the office, but I was unable to reach anyone. A few days before my scheduled extraction, the office manager finally contacted me. I was unable to speak at length at that moment, so I informed her that I would arrive early for my appointment in hopes of discussing the diagnosis with a dentist. My primary concern was understanding why my teeth had been classified as symptomatic and ensuring that my paperwork accurately reflected my condition. I also wanted to preserve my wisdom teeth if removal was not medically necessary. I arrived one hour before my appointment. The office manager and staff were aware of my arrival. Several staff members appeared to discuss my situation among themselves, but no one came to speak with me directly. Eventually, my appointment time arrived, and I was still seeking clarification while the staff began preparing me for the extraction procedure. Fortunately, an Asian male dentist took the time to review my case and explain the findings. He stated that my wisdom teeth were not truly symptomatic but were somewhere between asymptomatic and symptomatic. He explained that removal was being recommended due to hypereruption and as a preventive measure because the limited space in the back of my mouth could potentially increase the risk of future cavities. This explanation differed significantly from what had been documented on my paperwork. In fact, the clarification he provided was consistent with what I had understood all along: my wisdom teeth were not causing active problems. All I had wanted from the beginning was an accurate explanation of my diagnosis and for my paperwork to reflect my actual condition. Had the original dentist reviewed the paperwork with me, had someone returned my calls, or had the office manager taken the time to address my concerns, I believe the outcome could have been very different. This was one of the most disappointing experiences I have ever had in a healthcare setting. From my perspective, the extraction of wisdom teeth represented a billable procedure, and throughout this process I often felt more like a billable service than a patient. My concerns were repeatedly overlooked, and meaningful communication was absent until the day of the procedure itself. Ultimately, I consented to the extraction because my overseas employment depended on obtaining medical clearance. I was unwilling to jeopardize my career and future opportunities because of documentation that I believed was inaccurate and had been unable to get corrected. My wisdom teeth were not causing me any problems, yet I allowed them to be removed because I felt I had no other realistic option. This facility is very unprofessional and only interested in how much $$ they can get in from Extractions, they Called me Several times in reference to my appointment but cancelled my appointment, When I agreed to fillings but not Extraction because I had an appointment to go elsewhere for that, because of teeth sensitivity, they then cancelled my appointment and said they made a Mistake; I will Never go to the Colonial Heights VA office or refer anyone as well" read more

Let me start off by if Dr.Park is your Dr RUN!!! He took my wisdom teeth out only asked if one side was numb and which I told him no I could still feel his response was move your mouth some as he went to numb my other side then immeditly started because the first side wasn't all the way numb I could Feel it I was in pain screaming he went to the other side whivch wasn't numbed AT ALL I Felt everything. I was crying telling him to stop he said he couldn't I started hyperventalting as he continued while I could feel EVERYTHING until he was done. He ignored when I said stop, He ignored my pain. That experience taumatized me, Thank God a staff member noticed he didn't listen when I said stop, she noticed he did not care, and she did care. DONT DO IT. I would give this place a negative 10 star rating if I could. This was the absolute worst 2 minutes of my life. I am so put off at the level of disrespect and lack of professionalism I experienced the moment I arrived at this location. I made an appointment as a new patient over 4 months prior, and received multiple confirmations up until the day of. When I get there, I'm notified that they don't see adults on the day I'm scheduled. The receptionist was a miserable, poor excuse for an employee who should not be in a customer facing position. I asked for clarification on the miscommunication, and she literally stonewalled me until I told her I wasn't coming back and I'd find someplace else. She smugly just went "okay!" The world would be a better place if this office did not exist. I am so glad I left and did not let these people near my mouth with sharp objects. They wait up until the minute I walk in with my daughter for her oral surgery at 5:30 am just to tell me that the doctors don't want to do the surgery for another 6 months. I came from a few towns over. Why schedule a surgery date and cancel minutes after my arrival time smh. I will never return back here. read more

This has to be the most unprofessional , ghetto location ever. For over an hour I sat with my son , only for them to say they are having trouble verifying his insurance. I called my own insurance and got someone right away . Just a squad of people sitting behind the desk talking about everything but patients. The receptionist that answered the phone did not even ask what insurance I had before she proceeded to tell me that my insurance company would not cover the service. Obviously, she had no idea what she was talking about. She ended up telling me that the office was not taking new patients. STAY AWAY! They are crooks, liars, and rude! I filed an official complaint form against them - and am still having issues. While in the waiting room, I heard them charging almost every person some amount of money. So, I wanted to warn you: DO NOT PAY, until you check with your insurance company. They are double dipping!! They lie, charge you money when it should be free. When you call back, they denied you paid for anything. When I showed them the receipt, they said I had to call my insurance. I did! The insurance said they needed to refund that money, because it was a routine service, and there was no charge. After months of calling them back and forth: they kept saying they were refunding the money, but never did. Then, I filed against them. They lied again, telling the complaint company that they refunded me the money, last month, to the "original!!" form of payment - VISA card: hmm, funny thing: I did not pay with Visa! I used a Discover card! So, almost 4 months later, I am back with the complaint company to find out where the refund is. I am thinking they used their own VISA card, to show the refund, thinking people are stupid! Also, service wise: My son's tooth filing is rough and looks like not completely finished. If I could give zero stars I would. Just because most patients here have Medicaid/Medicare, doesn't mean they should continually receive horrible service. From check in to check out this is by far the worst experiences I've had in any type of medical office. They are not consistent with the information about the treatments you need, they have to block 2 hours for a 30 minute procedure because the doctors don't show up until an hour after your appointment time. They keep you waiting for hours and then rush the work and rush you out without following up on what steps are needing next. It's in the most unprofessional place I've ever been. read more
