There are little doggy water fountains so your pup doesn't get dehydrated. If you get hungry/thirsty, the BP gas station is just steps away (they have Fair Oaks ice cream). (Solid 4) The trail is quite buggy during summer because of many pools and rivulets of standing water. Which also makes the trail and its smaller offshoots quite damp and muddy too. When it does dry up some, the mosquitos are still there but not as abundant as normally. The playground area is clean and the munchkin enjoys it quite a bit. The only qualm I have with it is that there's a wee bit of graffiti featuring some choice words that our little one hasn't noticed yet. Other than that the equipment is in great condition and the mulch grounds are seemingly maintained.

Went with a friend that needed some extra credit for a history class and didn't really know what to expect. Once you get down there you can walk around different american/british/german camps and see all the reenactors doing things like digging foxholes or cleaning their guns and other soldier type stuff. They also have a schedule where events like an FDR actor does the speech from after the pearl harbor bombing. The main draw is the battlefield skirmish though. They bring out the artillery and tanks, and it's loud. Lasted about a half and hour and gotta say it was entertaining. You need to go into it with an open mind though or else it might not be too fun. I liked going around and asking a few questions to the soldiers about really small details like why there's certain patches on their uniforms, just to keep them on their toes. These guys knew their stuff. If you like history this is a cool place.

Staff/owner checked us in (reservations are recommended, minimum of 4 people) and explained rules and gave us some clue sheets. After locking us in to "The room of no return" it took us about 10 minutes to figure out anything... then we started to find clues and it took us about 30 minutes to figure out how to use them and we got so close, but dang it time ran out. You do need to work together, listen to each other, think outside the box and dont be afraid to try it. Really fun, definitely worth the $20 per person. We all had a great time and want to go back to try a different room. Will recommend to others...

There were literally thousands of Sandhill Cranes flying in to roost in the marsh. There is a viewing platform that is wheelchair accessible, and it offers the best vantage point to experience these magnificent birds. Directional signage is easy to follow, and there is ample parking. Watching the Sandhill Crane fall migration is definitely one of the best wildlife experiences available here in Indiana.

Apparently, this part of Indiana (and this spot in particular) is THE spot to see these birds do their thing. Sandhill cranes are huge, with long legs and beaks, and gigantic wings that make them look prehistoric. They also make a LOT of noise -- you can probably hear them before you see them as you pull into the parking lot at Jasper-Pulaski. You will see a lot of sandhill cranes here between October and November, during sunrise and sunset. We visited in mid-December and still saw quite a few birds, but I can only imagine how many more we would have seen a couple of months back. If you have a binocular or telephoto lens, you'd be wise to bring it; the birds hang out a ways away, and you can see them but not with much detail. This area is pretty primitive. You won't find a playground or picnic benches or anything. But there is a raised boardwalk tower (with steps, but also with a ramp for wheelchair and stroller access) where you can get a good view of the marshy land below where the sandhill cranes flock. There are also signs along the way with information about sandhill cranes. There are two port-a-potty restrooms off to the side, but no restroom structure or place to wash your hands. We only visited to birdwatch, so I don't know anything about the fishing here, but apparently you can do that here!
