That said, there are a few issues that genuinely detract from the experience. First, the dress code. I was asked to get off a treadmill mid-workout because my midriff was showing. I wasn't aware this was against the rules. I wear standard gym attire and don't typically comb through fine-print dress codes, so being stopped in the middle of a workout felt unnecessary and frankly frustrating. I disagree with this policy and think it's worth reconsidering. Second, the app is extremely inefficient. To check children into childcare, you're required to sign out and back into the app, which is inconvenient on its own. Combined with the fact that there's little to no cell service in the building, it becomes a real hassle rather than a helpful tool. Lastly, the amenities are unreliable. The hot tub and sauna are frequently out of service due to maintenance. At this point, it feels more like the expectation than the exception. Overall, the gym has strong potential and some real positives, but these policies and operational issues make it difficult to fully enjoy or justify.

Fast forward to 2020 . . . rumours about a private investment group of former Healthtrax members purchasing the club, remodeling it, and re-opening (During COVID19 times too (Opening a health club during a pandemic = BALLSY)). I waited a while before coming back (after getting vaccinated), but as soon as I walked into the door . . . I felt like being at home . . . the place is better than I remember it (and cleaner). I enjoy the pool, racquetball court, and gym. Everything is brand new and everything is clean. The wi-fi is strong, and they even have a hi-tech app. for my phone, so I can reserve a court, or sign up for a class. It even tracks my workouts if I choose. The only thing this place is missing, are the swimming suit spinners to dry your wet bathing suit (Healthtrax ripped them out when they left). Very happy I rejoined (And I qualify for a Veteran discount too) . . . Cheers! P.S. Speaking of Hi-Tech, the pool was down for unexpected maintenance yesterday, and I got a notification on the app. saying, so, as well as an e-mail and an app/ message telling me that it opened back up later in the evening. Many times in the past at Healthtrax, I got to the club in the morning, only to find out the pool was closed, but now I know in advance . . . that's awesome!

It is located on Paxton Drive across from the Walmart/Giant Eagle shopping center in Bethel Park. I made an apt to tour the facility and meet with the owner whose name is John. He explained to me that Teleo goes above and beyond what you would normally find in personal training be that a gym or fitness center. While some exercise machines are electronically operated the ones they use are all manual and state of the art. Some of the highest grades are used there. I was impressed with the "curved" treadmill he showed me. He explained that this is a type of treadmill you would find in a professional sports training facility. The equipment would take getting used to but I can see it doable if you are willing to change from the traditional strength machines. Free weights, kettle-bells, balance balls, and your traditional freestyle equipment are also there. Everything is spaced out so you have room to move about and very neatly organized. I also learned that they plan to update their heating and cooling system in the building. In the back area there is a baseball practice that is sectioned off if you wish to test your strength at either pitching or batting. The focus John told me was this is primarily a strength only facility but a program can be tailor made to suit your needs. I was surprised to learn that their facilities are not limited to able bodied individuals. People with physical challenges, surgical history, older adults, and those with exercise limitations can also train here. I felt intimated as to how that could work but he showed me a basic exercise they use that wouldn't be overly challenging yet still accomplish the goal of building strength where it is needed. I learned that he employs top notch trainers who have Master's degrees and certifications in different strength areas. Pricing depends upon whom you choose to train with and each trainer has the freedom to set what they feel is reasonable. Everything is done by apt only and the frequency is agreed upon between you and the person you decide to train with. I was not given any prices but after looking over everything I can see that this is indeed a costly investment. He gave me his card if I wanted to contact him with any other questions or meet with one of his trainers. Personal training is always costly but it appears to be a place where you can train well and get good results.

In addition they do have a track above the gym for running and walking, which is nice. I typically go at times when the Mortland offices are closed so I don't have that problem of running into patients or the staff of Mortland. The place is convenient, clean, and offers a variety of machines - ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, weight machines, free weights, exercise balls - they have it all for a cardio or strength training workout. The cost is a little pricey but it's in Peters so I guess you should expect that. It's $50/month with a minimum of a 6 month committment. So you have to pay $300 at the time of signing up plus a $25 deposit for the FOB key to enter at times when Mortland is closed. You may be able to get a 3 month committment b/c they offer that to college students - and then only pay $150 (plus $25 FOB deposit). Even with the price, it's the convenience that really got me. What's the point of joining a gym if it's not convenient?!?! This way I can't use the, "It's so far" excuse to get out of exercising...I use other ones but not that one :) The hours are 5AM - 10PM, 7 days a week.

It can get crowded at times, but that is expected. This gym has the feel that 5-10 years ago it was amazing, but that nothing has been updated since. The 2 stair masters have had the same "broken" signs for 4 months. At this point, fix them or honestly just remove them from the gym. It's a tease. Multiple other cardio equipment broken, only a few bikes are operational. Cleanliness is average. I've never seen more than one person working at a time (almost always a teenager) so maybe cleaning happens when they are closed? Not sure. The cleaning wipes are consistently empty and water spills occur without being cleaned up pretty regularly. Overall - it's a fine gym. It does technically have everything necessary, albeit a lot of cardio equipment is not functional. The free tanning is a plus, if you're into that.

I shouldn't have to wait 20 minutes for a squat rack because some idiot and his gf think taking up two racks and OHPing the bar requires 10 minutes of "rest" and scrolling through TikTok. I also wish they had showers. Has a good amount of cardio equipment. Despite the chairs encouraging people to not go above 110 bpm hr there's 5 racks with two having a DL platform, lots of free weights, and my favorite a hip thrust bench. Being a wellness competitor I do legs 3-4 days a week and there is every leg machine you can imagine here. Just joined, and I'll be happy once the Resolution Rush calms down.

Dan has created a great environment and plans fantastic workouts. Push 40 reminds me of a mix of multiple workouts that I've done, but I just loved the concept and it's all fit into 40 minutes. Dan fits in cardio, weights and ab work with the HIIT (20 seconds on, 20 seconds off) methodology. You rotate around the room from treads to weights to bikes to TRX for the majority of the class, and end with about 5 minutes of ab work. The equipment was unique and planet friendly too. Their treads are powered by your speed instead of plugging them into the wall. Dan and the coaches work with each individual to push it to your maximum at each station. Not only were the coaches great, but the people here were all so welcoming and helpful.
