We were eating at Chester's and we walked by the Shops Store Dispays and saw Talbots Petites I knew I'd find something. I loved Talbots in Charleston, SC where I first shopped them in my post College days! If you come to Alaska, (2nd Hint Hint Talbots,) bring a serious Petites store with all the petites, natives and asians you would do very well!

I decided to drive over here to check it out before heading to the mall. This store is in a plaza-mall hybrid. There was lots of parking on a snowy Wednesday afternoon. I parked and headed over to the store. It's an interesting setup where the TJ Maxx-HomeSense store feels like you are in a mall. You go through the main entrance and you walk over to the store in a mall-like setting. However, not all stores are accessible indoors. Many are set up like a plaza where you have an entrance for each store. It's weird. As with most TJ Maxx stores, the purses tend to appear first. I do miss the days when you could readily find Kipling purses. These days, you get Disney and Snoopy ones, which are still up my alley, but aren't as lightweight as Kipling ones. I tend to look at luggage. I had already bought a piece that worked well for my needs, but it never hurts to check this section out. I liked the selection. It had a number of pet duffle bags. It was my first time seeing them at any store's travel section. The face care section is impressive. I have never seen so many face wipes and masked neatly stacked. This store had purple Crocs. I don't own a pair, mainly because I can never find a pair in my size. I was so close here. One day, my dream will come to fruition. The kitchen accessories section made me happy. I found an oil spritzer with a glass base. I've always wanted one and it was at a good price here. Although the base is glass, it's pretty lightweight. I am also a sucker for small appliances. Mainly Dash products were available. I love this brand. I have mini griddle and waffle makers. I didn't need one, but they do make great gifts. The phone accessories section is great, too. I like checking out everything from car phone mounts to portable bank chargers. The lineup wasn't bad. I had a nice woman at the checkout. She looked at my oil spritzer and said that it would be good for plants. That's true, especially for cactuses and succulents that don't require a ton of water. I paid with a credit card. The transaction was straightforward. I thanked the woman and left with my purchase. I'm thrilled that Rochester has a TJ Maxx. It has a decent selection of items that interest me. I will say compared to other stores, this place is really large and spacious. They have all of their Halloween stuff up but I wasn't too impressed with their selection. I had a very disappointing experience with Erik's Bike Shop…read more We purchased a brand-new pair of skis and bindings from the Rochester store. Their technicians also professionally mounted and tested the bindings when we purchased new ski boots. Despite this professional setup, the binding unexpectedly released while my son was skiing, causing him to fall. After only two ski trips, the skis were also already visibly chipped. When we brought the equipment back to the store, they refused to issue a refund. The only option they offered was a replacement from the same manufacturer, even though we had already lost confidence in the product's safety and quality. What was even more disappointing was the customer service. Both the Rochester store manager and corporate customer service were dismissive of our concerns. Instead of addressing the safety issue, they insisted the remedy would not be a refund and suggested the problem could be "as simple as a screw coming loose." They even tried to blame the situation by saying my son weighs more now than when the bindings were set, even though the bindings had been professionally adjusted and tested by their own technicians just the month before. For a shop that markets itself as a professional ski service provider, this response showed very little accountability when something goes wrong. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend buying skis or having bindings serviced here. For reference, Better Business Bureau currently lists the company with a D rating and multiple unanswered complaints.

I stayed past 7 pm, which is when the mall closes daily. However, this bookstore closes daily at 8 pm. Awesome! This B&N is at the food court. You can enter the store without going through the mall. I had just finished eating dinner at the food court, so I took the mall entrance. The selection of reduced books and other items is this store's strength. I picked up a Sip by S'well bottle for $10, which is unheard of. One of their bottles that keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for many hours normally goes for $20, at least. I needed one to fill up at the airport and loved the marble design that I got. I gravitated towards the Pusheen section. The plushies were adorable. I had some willpower and did not get any. There are a lot of plushies at this store, from BT21, to Harry Potter. I loved seeing them all. My favourite discovery was the music section. You can still listen to CDs here. I haven't seen that setup in a decade. I loved looking at the records (vinyl) and turntables. I was so happy. This store is huge. It has a full cafe with seating. I enjoyed my time browsing. I had to figure out where to pay. The payment area by the mall was unstaffed. There was an information desk smack in the middle of the store. Nearby was the second payment area. I had the nicest woman at the checkout. She found my name in the system after she got my phone number. If you sign up for a B&N membership, you get 15% off everything. I tend to shop here often that this membership has paid for itself and more. She placed my water bottle in a plastic bag and wished me a nice evening. I reciprocated and left the store, heading to my car through the mall. I love this store in my old stomping ground. I will definitely return and maybe stay a bit longer than an hour next time. (35)

Every time I shop in this sephora, I refuse to shop with her as I know she has 'better' things on her priorities than to take the time to help me with my shopping endeavors. On a positive note, there are a few workers there that have been a FANTASTIC help, if you can be there at the right time. To whoever manages this store, please figure out your team for the betterment of the customer experience. Will NOT be returning, would rather drive the two hours to the Mall Of America's store, even though they're not the most helpful either.
