I work in the ER, and although I was sent home with steroids and antivirals, I still felt lost because many of my questions were unanswered and no one could give me a clear reason why it happened. I was told it could have been triggered by a virus, stress, or lack of sleep. Before starting acupuncture, the entire right side of my face was completely paralyzed. I could not smile at all, I could not close my eye, and I had to tape my eye shut every night to protect it. Watching your face change like that is incredibly hard and scary, and it affects you emotionally in ways people don't always understand. After finishing my steroids, I decided to start acupuncture with Dr. Lanie Quan, and I truly believe I came into the right hands. I am currently on session six and the difference has been incredible. My face now looks close to normal again, my movement has improved so much, and I finally feel hopeful in my recovery. I have had a lot of back issues from sports and driving alot, and I found out about Rawlinson from the Tracy Farmers Market! They give out a great deal to try them out first. The Dr is very knowledgable and friendly and is very quick with adjustments. You spend about 10 min max for appointments (45 minutes if its your first one as they go over all your health history). I would say the only thing I've noticed is every adjustment is generally the same, and the Dr does not ask where I am still having pain, or how my pain levels have been, if any new areas have come up, etc. i was asked all this when I had my first appointment but every appointment after has been quick. This was new to me and normally I've had chiropractors ask me each time I see them so they can do any additional adjustments that may be needed outside the standard ones performed each session. My wait was as long as it took me to fill out my general info on a form. I was taken into a good sized room that had a sink, bed - like table which was surprisingly comfy, acupuncture equipment, and a chair. Jenny (acupuncturist) explained what acupunture was and how it worked, then she checked my range of motion in several places. She gave me some recommendations for long term health. I then was given a gown to change into, then she started the needling. She explained what she was doing every step of the way. She was so fast with the needling that many times I didn't even know where had already put in the needles. After the needles (which had a hair-like thickness) she hooked me up to a electrode like pulsating machine, set heat lamps on my back, shut off the light, and i was able to take a 30 minute nap. She did check in on me during, as well. Afterward she messaged the areas where she had the needles with some type of oil. Overall I would have to say I was very pleasantly surprised at how relaxing and good the whole session felt. I would definitely recommend.

The target areas of the body are cleansed with alcohol, a sterile single-use tiny-gauge (very fine) needle is placed, and e-stim may or may not be applied to the needle. An infrared lamp is also used during the treatment, which is personally my favorite because I tend to run cold and warmth is soothing. Jenny has a corporate career M-F and drives to Lathrop on Saturdays to help her clients in her licensed acupuncture practice. I plan to continue regular visits with Jenny for wellness promotion and to address any areas of discomfort that may creep up.
