I have a history of back problems, already had two back operations, both microdiscectomy, one with a bone graph. These happened around 12 and 6 years ago. I moved to the USA ready for a new adventure when my back issues reared their head again! Thought that I was going to be heading down the same route as before with a knife at the end of the road. Luckily I found the team at Valley Chiro and Dr. Johannes. To start with, due to my history they were worried, not surprisingly, so they got me checked out with some new x-Ray's and compared these to my old MRI scans. When they saw that there were no catastrophic issues around the nerve canals they progressed to try and realign and start the progress to getting me back on my feet. The only way I could do my day to day activities was to take Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, and codeine. After a few week of realignments, Dr. Johannes felt that I was not progressing as he expected and had from the start said to me that the main issue I had was the amount of inflammation that had been triggered by the old scar tissue in my back. This is when he ask if I would be willing to try a few things? First, he asked if I would try taking something called MSM powder. I had never heard of this before!! Did some reading, then some more and then found what looked like a good source of the powder online and thought I would try it! I did not expect what happened. Within a few days if not sooner I had halved my pain killers, got rid of codeine altogether and felt great. This continued and continues today. I take a teaspoon of the powder in water when I get up and one just before dinner in the evening. My appointments with Dr. Johannes continue but now my alignments are only very slight, in addition, he encouraged that I add Aloe Vera pulp to my diet to see if this will help my discs with their repair although this would be slow. Now I take MSM and Aloe Vera regularly and add collagen powder (which is a little harder to swallow -literally - orange juice if the only way I can take it!). Now I am a huge advocate of MSM find it has other benefits as well, energy, bowels, and skin have benefited. I don't see the team at Valley as often as I did anymore and the lengths of my visits are very very short, just a quick tune-up every now and again! Out of the 5 visits I never got an examination nor was I asked what my problem was by the chiropractor. This was my first time at a chiropractors office and the feeling I got after I finished my 5 sessions were that chiropractic offices seem like scams. They get you in, shock your back with a machine you can buy off e-bay. Then they heat your back or use a roller bed which all three of these processes only brought more pain and discomfort to my back.. After about 30 minutes of gimmicky painful procedures, the chiropractor comes in, small talks with you, cracks your back, neck etc and leaves literally within 2 minutes. After my experience here I went on to research more about chiropractic offices and discovered it is a pseudoscience. How can a couple pops and cracks of my neck and other areas heal or relieve chronic back pain or a herniated disc. People usually don't experience their necks being cracked. All it is, is a small pocket of air being released. You then feel a placebo effect making you think something good just happened. There are 5 rules of when to know an office is scamming you. And this one marks at least a couple off this list. If you really want to get help maybe see a physical therapist. My 5 visits were paid for in full before I ever even arrived, so i'm not sure if they thought I was only here as an insurance customer so they treated me with less attention or maybe they didn't believe I had back pain as I am a younger guy. All I know is over the 5 visits I never once felt like my problems were being addressed or even taken into consideration. I'm sure a lot of these offices get repeat customers who are lying about some BS back pain they got from a car accident. But my back REALLY hurts and they act like they don't care. Ok let just start with this place is amazing! I came in for my back pain not knowing they check everything. I have knee issues and haven't been able to walk for a week now or even bend my knee and the dr wrapped it and did some stretching and adjusted it and as soon as I stood up I did not feel any pain like I had. I moved to Mt.House over a year ago and one my main concerns was finding a good chiropractor. Well Mt.House actually has a Chiropractic Office as I thought I'd have to go into Tracy but I was pleasantly surprised to find this office less then 2 miles from my home. Starting with Yuri at the front desk the practice earned my 5 stars. She is so efficient and is always so accommodating with getting you in on an appointment that truly works for you. I saw Dr.Garrido originally who is always so positive and takes his time to be sure your adjustments are perfect. Also Dr.Tim took great care of me when I needed different location appts. They are available 6 days a week which is awesome in one of their 3 offices! I stopped for Chiropractic treatment because of some old medical issue that needed attention and after that treatment was finished I resumed my weekly chiropractor care. I see Dr.Natalie now here in Mt.House and just love her! She seems to be very intuitive, extremely caring and confidant. Ok I have to say, I was at a 9 pain level when I went in to see Dr jo yeasterday. In tears, I had the worst pain and could not move my shoulder whatsoever. He performed his eval, asked all the right questions and made his adjustment. .. as soon as I got up, I can honestly say my pain dropped to about a 6! This morning, woke up in pain again but with a little movement I'm down to a 5... im hopeful that by tomorrow the pain will be less and less. I highly recommend Dr Jo and am so happy I made the decision to treat my pain holistically instead of heading to the hospital where they'd probably just prescribe me pain killers and not deal with the actual issue. I love this place so much. It's 2 minutes away from my house and the interior of the office is just great. I was recommended by one of my teachers and it's been one of my best decisions to come see Dr. Russell. Everyone at Valley Chiropractic is so nice and accommodating! I see Dr. Jo for my appointments and he's amazing! He's attentive and addresses all of my issues. I have a desk job that requires me to sit and be my computer for majority of the day so I tend to tense up a lot in my shoulders and upper back. Dr. Jo addresses that but he also makes sure that I'm aligned. I've also had less headaches and migraines after seeing him periodically. Dr. Russell is also great and super funny! He always gets me going with a good laugh! Here is the cherry on top... Stephanie, their massage therapist, is beyond amazing! I saw her yesterday for an hour massage.
