I was visiting Vancouver from out of town and needed a clean maxi polyester dress to be steamed/pressed because I could not get the wrinkles out. Especially after packing it in my luggage. They did a great job getting the wrinkles out and there was no damage to the dress. Please be vigilant and check your clothes 'with' one of the staff so that they can see with you that you are dropping off garments that do not have tears or broken buttons. When picking up your items, be sure to check that your clothes are in the same good condition as when you dropped them off 'Before' you pay the bill. On the 22nd of february 2011, I came here to pick up my dry cleaning, I brought in a wool sweater and a cotton button up dress shirt both made by Boss. They were both quite expensive. No problem with the sweater, allthough my dress shirt came back with a small tear in the front and one of the buttons had been broken in half. Small story short they did not care and said that it was my fault and to take the shirt back where I bought it from and have it exchanged. I certainly could bring it back for an exchange seeing how I only used it once before taking it to be cleaned and pressed at Sperle's, however I am not dishonest enough to do somthing like that. I will take my dry cleaning to an establishment that is honest and won't ruin my clothe's, and if they do ruin my clothe's that they would admit it. read more

They advertise 5 min hems but they don't provide it. They were going to charge me $10 for the hem and it would be ready for the next day. When I asked for the 5 mins hem he pretended to not hear me. He reluctantly took my jeans and said they would be ready in 5. I came back and the other worker told me they won't be ready until tomorrow. I pointed to the ad on the window and said that I was told I would get a quick hem. He said no and I asked for my jeans back. I got my jeans back and they were cut but no hem. I've used Sperle's for various alterations and dry cleaning. They always do a spectacular job and I'm never disappointed. They have arguably the best prices in the west end if not the entire metro Vancouver area. I've never been disappointed and recently they saved my cashmere/wool blend petal pink winter coat that I thought was ruined forever. With prices like theirs and quality that's arguably on par with Fletcher's (if not better), Sperle's is a no-brainer. Also, they have a credit/debit machine. The owner (I think) can come off as very to the point (don't expect idle chit-chat), but it's actually kind of endearing in my eyes and he isn't rude in any way. It just takes him a little to warm up (which is honest human nature). read more

The staff is very friendly, they have easy parking in the back for quick drop offs and there turn around time is fast. I have been a happy customer of Sperle's for the past three years. It is my main spot for dry cleaning and "wash and fold". I always had good experience, and find their prices to be attractive on both services. They have this nice way of folding and packaging cleaned undergarments which is a small nice perk. Several times they showed concern to good results, and contacted me when they felt I gave them the wrong cleaning instructions that would put some garments at risk. I refer a couple of friends to this business and they all were satisfied. I am not a regular reviewer for the Yelp website, but was prompted for action seeing my favorite dry cleaner being targeted by a reviewer who seems to be going around giving horrible reviews to everyone. I felt that was unfair, and obviously my personal experience with this business is very different. Too bad the idiotic Yelp filter hides my review , while keeping the other review in. Maybe that's because indeed I do not usually write reviews. Good people, don't trust the online trolls. read more

This little dry cleaner is great. They have a change room in front. I have tried others but this one I like, its fast. I needed my pants hemmed it was done in five mins. I think there are a lot of people that like this place. I counted five wedding dresses in there. They have all the equipment. For suits, wedding dresses, flat things, round things. Long things. An endless supply of steam and thread. I like it. Unlike the others it looks like something is always being done. Fantastic. read more

It's an affordable place with decent quality. I've had my jeans hemmed here and I have had my suit drycleaned and a shirt cleaned and pressed. Other than the slight smell of what I presume is cleaning chemical odor, my shirt and suit came back wrinkle free. However, my experience with hemming was pretty terrible. It's not that the finished product came back awful, it was the customer service experience. Initially, I was drawn in by the cheap hemming price but what I didn't realize is that there's a difference between hemming and ORIGINAL hemming. For those that don't know, original hemming is a hemming process where by the original hem on your jeans (You know, those folded and precisely worn edges) are transferred onto your jeans after they've been cut to the length you desire. Regular hemming is just cutting and making a new hem, with which a lot of jeans would look terrible, but I digress. The real problem is that I didn't realize this and the middle aged Korean man (who probably owns the place) didn't care to explain this to me. When I had realized he had done regular hems, I asked him to redo them with original ones. He then pointed to a sign saying any re-doing of hems will be charged at full price, which was almost double that of the regular hem. Of course, I argued with him but I finally caved when I realized that he charged probably the cheapest price in Vancouver. So this is partly my fault but I'm sure there are other cleaners that would be more thorough with your understanding of your choices, especially when it comes to alterations. Anyway, aside from the bad experience, the stitching of the hems were acceptable. They could have been more precise but I'm content with the price they charged. read more

Not a good business at all. I took in two silk pieces and a bag. They cleaned the bag but ruined the leather handles. The handles didn't need cleaning and it's quite clear that they were leather and shouldn't be touched in whatever way they cleaned them. The leather that was once soft, now feels like sandpaper. I was really clear about the silk pieces. Both were ironing only because I said I handwashed them. The guy was perfectly fine with this. However when I went to pick them up, he said he refused to iron one because I handwashed it and I "ruined" it. First of all, that's bull--silk can be handwashed, and second, he didn't have a problem with that when I dropped them off! He acted like it was fine and no problem at all. I wanted him to iron pleats and his argument was that they couldn't be ironed back in. This again is false because the piece was handwashed and ironed once before without issue. Also, pleats are manufactured and anyone with an iron and patience could fix it. I wanted to do it myself but didn't have the time. And it's gone to dry cleaners before and come back looking normal, so he had absolutely NO valid excuse. Instead, he wasted my time and I could have taken it elsewhere. Meanwhile, what he DID do was iron the matching belt, which was made of the same exact material, and it had been handwashed too. He also ironed the second piece, which was made of the same exact silk. Hypocritical much? Above all, he claimed he called me to inform me he wouldn't iron my pieces and he said, "I left a message." I was next to my phone all day--no missed calls and definitely no messages. So he refused to touch one piece, but worked on a second of the same exact type of silk, and ruined my third item. Now I have the joy of finding a second dry cleaner to fix his work on my bag. Great, right? read more

I have been to Sperles numerous times, largely because it is conveniently located near my home. Having said that you should know up front that the work done is average to poor quality. For example, I had a beautiful linen blouse that needed to be shortened in the arms. When I went to pick it up, I noticed that the thread color did not match the fabric at all. The blouse was bright pink and they used dark red. They simply replied to me that they didn't have the right color thread. Also, I had a pair of jeans taken there for hemming, and the same thing happened. Instead of using a gold colored thread to match the stitching in the pockets, they used an off white colored thread which stuck out like a sore thumb. They also used the same excuse. I am looking for another tailor, but in the meantime, I make sure that they show me what color thread they are using before they proceed. As soon as I find another place to get my garments altered, I won't be back. read more
