This place was in our neighborhood and was open late. We went in and ordered the chicken malai tikka, kadhai chicken, and rotis! Loved the taste of the food. The tikkas were soft and cooked to perfection in the tandoor. The kadhai chicken was also delicious, not oily which I liked. My only dislike would be the green colored coriander chutney. Looked like it had food color.

The food, service, and the ambiance were incredible. The food was so good we went THREE days in a row and asked to meet the chef! Generous portions, great spice levels and flavours. A must visit if you're in the area, especially after a day of skiing. The law of diminishing experiential returns does not apply here. It is that good.

Whenever I go to Banff, I always eat at this East Indian restaurant. It's located in heart of Canmore. The ambience is relaxing and inviting. They also offer take out. It is little pricey, but you can't complain as it's a premium tourist place. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They always ask for your spice level and let you know about the dishes. This time we ordered takeout. We took Palak Paneer, garlic naan and tandoori fish combo( it comes with grilled fish marinated in Indian spices, rice, butter sauce and salad ). Both dishes were fresh and flavourful and even naan were crispy from outside and soft from inside. The lady at the counter also gave me disposable cutlery. Overall perfect meal and good service.

This is my new favorite in Canmore! The Chicken in each portion was moist and flavorful! Just enough spice, yet not overbearing. I will recommend it to all my friends and family.

Me and my friends with our incredible dishes. Mine was chicken korma with garlic naan. (Closest on the right).

Let me tell you everything you need to know about this place. First off, I want you to know I am a true Yelp believer. If I see something with only 3.5 stars, I'm not likely to go there unless I'm desperate. But let me tell you something: the 3.5 star ratings for this restaurant don't give the place the credit it deserves. I would rate this place a 4 or 4.5 star restaurant. Here's why: Pros: 1. AMAZING FOOD. My friends and I all appreciate good food. We came to Canmore for a spring break trip, and needed to find somewhere to eat quick. We saw the Spice Hut and we were amazed. The food tasted as closely to authentic Indian food as you can in a place like Canmore. The chicken literally melted in our mouths, and the giant piece of naan comes out fresh and flaky on the outside, but light on the inside. Everything about the food was incredible. 2. Very knowledgeable waitress. Our waitress is a local who said she came to the restaurant regularly for 6 years before getting a job there. She has tried almost everything on the menu. If you want more detail about what makes the dishes different, ask your waiter or waitress. The menu is very simple and doesn't explain well enough what makes each dish unique, so if you want to make sure you get something you appreciate, just ask. It usually has to do with what spices the dish has as well as the way it is prepared. Cons: They charge you for rice and naan. It's really not a huge deal considering how great the food is, but most Indian places include that in the overall price of the dish. It wasn't that much more (I think the rice was $0.60 and the naan was $2.50 per piece). This could be a pro for some people who don't actually want the naan or the rice with their dish, and don't want to have to pay for it. Extra bonus: we accidentally left our leftovers at the restaurant, and they saved it for us rather than throwing it away! The waitresses there know how valuable the food is. So, there you have it. If this place didn't charge extra for rice then I would have given it 5 stars, which is saying a lot. I hope this review helps you make the best decision on which Indian place to choose from while in Canmore.

Yes yes yes. I love curry and I love this place! I've had many great curries in my life and this definitely hit the spot. I got the coconut chicken curry with a level 4/5 spice with garlic naan and rice. Super super tasty with lots of spices! We picked up for delivery which made our eating even more convenient!!! Decently priced too.

Friendly staff, decent decor and okay food. The server and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was fresh, although wasn't authentic. That said, It was great to have an Indian meal option in a small town like Canmore. We had their Kadhai Paneer which was spelled "karahi " on the menu, Chana masala and butter roti (Their Naan breads have egg in them hence we couldn't try those). Paneer gravy was partially cooked with onion overload and the Chana in Chana masala was a bit undercooked. Rotis were good, they stinged on the butter for our first order, second order was better. Best part of the meal was their Rasmalai, not sure if they made it or was pre made - but was quite good. Overall, quality of food did not match the price (Specially coming from California, were you get best food for dirt cheap prices) The fourth star is for the kitchen staff who served us an extra roti after they had closed kitchen for the day and the server who gave us a complimentary Mother's Day dessert. Thank you :) !!

Some of the best Indian food we have had in a very long time. The dishes were prepared to taste with care. The Aloo Gobi was mostly caulifower with few potatoes, fresh and cooked just enough, not to mushy. The Mint Chicken Tandoori Tiki was suburb, served on rice and we loved the mint sauce and the tandoori sauce. Nice light salad dressing on salad of lettuce, tomates and cucumbers. The Veggie Pakora was so rich and made even better with the sweet sauce. The waitress was very sweet and we enjoyed our early lunch on outside in the sun. Perfect!

It was very good. My wife and I were craving something spicy after a week of relatively bland food during our vacation in Banff.

Breakfast/Lunch Stop Worth the Detour…read more I'm a pretty picky eater. Not because I want to be, but because I have to be. I try to eat vegetarian in the morning, and I'm allergic to wheat, which makes dining out a little more complicated than it should be. My boyfriend found this little café outside Banff, and honestly, it turned out to be one of the better food surprises of the trip. We both ordered the Pad Thai -- one loaded with extra protein, one without. I had low expectations. I've eaten enough Thai food to know that about 7 or 8 out of 10 places overcook the noodles. They become soft, mushy, and fall apart the moment you touch them. Not here. The noodles were cooked perfectly -- still chewy with a nice bite. The peanut sauce was another pleasant surprise. It wasn't overly sweet or heavy like many North American versions. The balance was just right. The spice level was mild, which I appreciated because the dish actually tasted like Pad Thai instead of being buried under a mountain of chili. The vegetables were generous, fresh, and plentiful. My boyfriend's chicken portion wasn't huge, but there was plenty of tofu, which made sense since the dish is originally designed as a vegetarian option. The chef seemed to add the chicken as an extra rather than making it the star of the plate. The portion looked manageable when it arrived. It was not. I couldn't finish mine, and my boyfriend had to rescue the remaining noodles. Pad Thai: 4/5 The Vegan Berry Scone was light, not greasy, and not overly sweet. The strawberries and blueberries added little bursts of tartness, and there was a nice oat flavor throughout. My only complaint? It might have been too healthy. A tiny bit more sweetness could have taken it from "good" to "wow." Vegan Berry Scone: 3/5 The Vegan Chocolate Cake was exactly what a chocolate lover would want. Rich dark chocolate flavor without being sugary or overwhelming. It was a little dense and heavy, but in a comforting way that made me keep reaching for another bite. If the cake itself were slightly more moist, it would be nearly perfect. That said, making something both vegan and gluten-free that tastes this good deserves credit. Vegan Chocolate Cake: 4/5 What really impressed me was the overall value. Since the café is outside the main Banff tourist zone, prices are much more reasonable, parking is easy, and they offer a surprisingly large selection of gluten-free and vegan options. For someone like me, who usually spends half the meal interrogating the menu, that alone is worth celebrating. Final Rating: 4/5 Good food, fair prices, easy parking, and plenty of options for people with dietary restrictions. I'd absolutely come back. In fact, if I'm passing through again, I probably won't bother looking for another place.
