Everything about this place is amazing. I can't say enough about the friendly staff and excellent food.

On a Sunday evening, we were surprised to be the only persons in the restaurant. It's hard to really rate the service since we were the only people there. The waitress was friendly but when we asked for recommendations she didn't really have much to say. There seemed to be some sketchy people walking around outside of the restaurant, so that made us a bit uncomfortable. The food, however, was very good. This restaurant was recommended to me by several people so I decided to try them out. The setup/service at the restaurant was decent. In terms of food, I have tried their Butter Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo, Lamb Masala, and Lamb Biryani at Medium Spice Level and their Garlic Naan. The butter chicken was one of the best I have had. The chicken was tender, juicy, and crunchy. It had a nice flavour on its own but even better with the sauce. As for the sauce/curry, it was less creamy than a lot of other places and it was actually a bit spicy at medium level, both of which I prefer for the dish. The lamb vindaloo and masala were also really good. There were nice pieces of lamb and potatoes. Both were nicely cooked and felt hearty with the curry. The vindaloo curry actually tastes like vindaloo with a bit more tomatoes and spices and it was more spicy than other curries, all of which made it satisfying while the masala was less spicy but more fragrant. The Lamb Biryani had good flavour overall, nice rice, and good pieces of lamb. It was definitely a value item. The Garlic Naan looked nice, was nicely cooked and crispy, but lacked a bit of the garlic flavour. read more

Expensive, not real taste of authentic Indian or Pakistani cuisine at all. For instance a Biryani should taste like Biryani, not just the essence of rich Mughlayee food . India (Sikh/Hindu) mostly are vegetarians and have no clue how to cook meats. I took my family of 5 adults and 5 children, each one of us ordered and left more than 50% uneaten, we didn't want to take anything home as it was not even close to the authentic food of the origin. I guess people here do not know anything about the real taste of the dishes and it sells. I can spend 50% of the money spent in this very expensive and tasteless place and cook double the amount at home and enjoy real taste and spices. Posting some pics of my cooking. read more

Probably the best ethnic food in Lloydminster! I'm sure I don't have to tell anyone to order the butter chicken cuz that's the most popular Indian dish but that's exactly what I'm going to do! $13.99 for a large bowl of curry with around 8oz of tender white chicken meat. Indian cuisine specializes in dark meat which is why the breast is usually put into curry's. But anyone who has cooked chicken breast knows that it doesn't have much fat or moisture. Even in a curry the chicken tends to be dry and needs the curry liquid. But however they cook the breast in this curry it's done PERFECTLY! Tender, moist, and sizeable chunks of meat with a complex flavored curry makes for a great dish. You can add rice, Naan, or Garlic Naan for a few extra bucks. I also tried the roti which is flatter and crispier then the Naan but for the price and volume the Naan wins hands down. The room is larger but has some nice cozy booths. The service was fast as it was lunch time and the food came out in a timely manner at a good temperature. I'll definitely be back if I'm driving through Lloydminster and need a good bite to eat! read more

Ordered a chicken curry with rice. Wow. I am not a rice fan but the rice was unlike anything I had eaten before, basmati, I think. It was so light and soft to the point of being delicate, if I can use that description. The curried chicken was delicious. The chicken was absolutely the most tender chicken I have ever had the pleasure of eating. And not being a fan of cilantro, the server advised me I can request it not be added to the dish prior to preparation.Now that is accommodating. The decor is cool muted colours to promote relaxation. The server was attentive and provided additional info about the dishes we were deciding upon. Definitely a nice dining spot in Lloydminster. read more

Context is everything in this case. Spice Hut Indian restaurant is in the middle of northern Canada in a small town, 100 kms from the next small town. It's clean, the portions are a bit small (biryani aside, which is massive), the prices a bit high. The service is energetic, friendly and prompt. Guess what? The food is not only surprisingly good, it's actually good. The spicing is subtle and varied and each dish has its own character. Hits the spot and more. read more

The food very good. The waitresses on the other hand were more interested in dividing their tips than waiting on their costumers. I had to ask 3 times for water and when it came she spilled it all over our table. Water running on the floor. No apology and never came back to clean it up. read more
