Spiced by Billu's is in the trendy dining precinct at Barangaroo, just by the ferry terminal, so it has a lovely view of the water. It would also be a great place for a long lunch on a weekend. We were here for a Sunday evening dinner, the seating is alfresco (yet covered) under dimmed lights and heaters to keep us warm. Originally set up in Harris Park, known to cater for celebrities such as Chris Gayle and Steve Waugh. They have opened this upscale restaurant in Barangaroo and as soon as we met the host, we felt like we were dining with experienced restauranteurs. It is a little pricy, but you aren't in Harris Park and lets face it you are paying a little extra for the location and the view. We were offered drinks, they have a small bar and have a good range of alcohol including Indian beer, one of my favourites; Kingfisher beer. The tables are set with some beautiful crystal and copper cutlery. There are a lot of great choices on the menu, hard to make a decision. They do a banquet menu $40-$45 if visiting in a group of 4 or more. We began with the Vegetarian platter with onion bhaji, lovely soft filling and light crispy outer crust), the paneer an Indian cheese which had a nice spice coating and the the vegetable samosas were quality, with a nice soft filling with a spice kick. We followed this with dhal tarka, one of the best we have tried. Naan is a standard whenever we visit an Indian restaurant and the cheese naan was perfect to mop up any left over sauce. Speaking of sauce the braised lamb shank had a deliciously fragrant sauce and good balance of spice. As to be expected, the lamb fell off the bone. The biryani was recommended and did not disappoint. A traditional rice dish, the indian version of fried rice. An explosion of taste and texture, the rice cooked with onions, garlic, ginger, cashew nut, raisins and spices.

This is a great location and would normally rate this as a 4 but believe they should update menu w options for individual diners. Yes, the location is highly trafficked tourist destination but also part of the CBD. Happy to pay same rates just need a few combos. I had naan, dal dish, rice and kingfisher - all delicious, and a single portion protein dish would have made this a 4+ for me. The servers were attentive but not interested in pursuing menu question w kitchen.

It's going to be my new favorite Indian restaurant, for sure. Went here for lunch and I decided to try the Indian tasting board, Thali, so I can taste chef skills on doing what he is doing best on curries and also I mixed the proteins selections. I have Lamb Rogan Josh, Butter chicken, Dhal Makhani and Dhal Tarka. With this it also accompanied with Naan bread, Papadum, Riata, Pickle and dessert of Gulab Jamun. By far I'm happy with the flavour of those curries. And why I'm not giving 5 stars, just incase you asking? Well, the serving of rice dish are pretty painful too eat, you need a bigger bowl condiment to enjoy those beauty. That's my personal opinion though!

The menu has a good variety, though the dishes felt more comforting than standout. A solid option if you're nearby, but not necessarily a place you'd go out of your way for. Food: The curries had good flavor and spice levels, but were a little oil-heavy for my preference. Portions were fair, and the dishes came out fairly quickly. Some items stood out more than others, but overall the food was enjoyable without being particularly memorable. Service: Service was efficient despite the busy crowd. Staff were polite and managed the small space well, though at peak hours it can feel a bit rushed because of how packed the restaurant gets. Ambience: The restaurant has a traditional Indian theme with old Maharaja portraits and classic décor elements throughout. The space is on the smaller side, and the décor can feel a bit overcrowded, making it slightly cramped during busy times. Still, it has a lively atmosphere that fits the tourist-heavy Circular Quay area.

We constantly were just trying to get through each dish ordered, hoping it'd improve but the taste, quality, and texture - something was always off. The meat also smelled funny. Besan Fritters were rubber in texture with balsamic type cream sauce. Pork Curry spice was extreme and the water could not come fast enough. This had dish the most weird meat smell. The Beef Dosa tasted more like a sunscreen quesadilla. Poorly described but that was the meal in a nutshell for us. Great aesthetic and staff was semi attentive - although a reservation, there was no one at the host stand for 5min+ nor no one seated in the front section of the restaurant so awkwardly stood until the bartender finally gave in to ask if we needed help. Overall, wouldn't recommend. Especially in group settings where food would be shared since the menu incorporates a lot of different flavors/textures into one dish - not all would be inclined.
