Zyka Elevated Indian Restaurant is a must-visit gem hidden on the second floor in the heart of…read moredowntown Banff. The easiest way to find it is to look for the Zyka sign around Banff Ave--otherwise, you might end up on a bit of a maze-like journey through the mall. You can easily access it via the stairs or elevator. Inside, the decor is clean, modern, and warm. There are lots of tables in the restaurant, so this is a great choice if you have a large group (although you should make reservations to guarantee seating). If you are lucky enough to score a window table, you get front-row seats to incredible mountain views and great people-watching. Zyka offers a buffet at lunch alongside a large à la carte menu for lunch or dinner. The food was absolutely spectacular. Their butter chicken is easily one of the best I have ever had! The chicken is deeply marinated and served in a rich, thick sauce with a perfectly balanced blend of onion, tomato, yogurt, and masala. If you love a thick curry that clings perfectly to your rice and bread, this is it! The matar paneer was equally hearty and flavorful, boasting another beautifully thick sauce with just the right amount of a spicy kick. But the real showstopper? The garlic naan. Finding excellent naan is rare--it's usually too bland or too dry. Zyka's naan is fresh, delicious, and has the perfect chewy stretch. Our family of five loved the garlic naan so much that we actually purchased eight more orders to go! Pro-Tip for dairy-free/lactose-intolerant diners: You can ask the incredibly friendly staff to leave the butter off the garlic naan. Remarkably, even without the butter, Zyka's garlic naan was still soft, flavorful, and not dry at all. Highly recommended! I am super sad that it is difficult to find an Indian restaurant as good as Zyka in Los Angeles ... and yes, I have been to many Indian restaurants, including in Artesia (AKA "Little India").

ZYKA was delicious!…read more I was a little nervous trying Indian food in Banff especially when I saw I had to take stairs to get to the restaurant. You're literally transported into a booming restaurant with savory scents and smoking dishes! I was worried because the waiter didn't write anything down but everything came out exactly as we ordered. It was so exciting to see the dosas flying out of the kitchen. I've never tried a dosa before and I'm really glad I waited until coming here. We got a potato dosa which is a crepe shaped bread full of potato and dipping sauces. I would go back for this alone. Then going to all of there tikka!!! The plates came out smoking and all the meat was tender and packed with flavor! The last thing I'll note was the masala dishes!! THE ROG AND JOSH is a must! But if you have a hike tomorrow I would stick with the dosa or tikkas!

(The only other spot to ever pull this off for me is Verde Rekado in Coron, Philippines!). Cucumber Salad ($9.99 CAD): This was wonderfully refreshing and reminded me of lightly pickled Korean cucumber side dishes, bursting with savory garlic and umami flavors of fish sauce. Char Siu Marinated Tofu ($4.44 CAD): They managed to perfectly capture the iconic sweet-and-savory flavor profile of Char Siu pork without any actual "porkiness." The tofu was beautifully firm, perfectly cooked, and thoroughly marinated inside and out. The Nourishment Bowl ($24.24 CAD): This bowl is large, and I paired it was the Char Siu Marinated Tofu. The brilliant addition of a subtle coconut cream, paired with roasted vegetables and quinoa, perfectly softened the rough texture of the raw shredded carrots and greens; This combination elevates this bowl so that you don't feel like you're "just eating a salad" for dinner. Tempura Tacos ($17.17 CAD): These tacos were absolutely divine! Nourish restaurant has somehow mastered the art of frying avocados so that the batter is flawlessly crispy on the outside, while the inside remains warm, rich, and smooth. If I could eat these in Los Angeles, I would honestly never miss battered fish tacos again. Summer Shoyu Ramen ($22.22 CAD): Featuring a deeply comforting, hearty roasted garlic and soy broth. They brilliantly give the broth a slightly velvety, thicker-than-water body with just the right amount of oil. It completely tricks your palate into thinking it was simmered for hours with meaty bones, rather than being a boring, thin vegan soup. I wish we had such an amazing vegetarian restaurant like Nourish in Los Angeles!!

Vegetarians and Vegans Rejoice…read more.... On the same day my family of 5 from California had a great lunch at Banff Social, we went back to town for a late dinner at Nourish Bistro. What great food! Overall: 5 - Location: 5 - Exterior: 4 - Ambiance: 4 - Menu: 5+ - Food: 5+ - Service: 5 - Price and Value: 5 - Bathroom: 3 - Parking: 3 Pros: - Location: Convenient to the downtown area. In the midst of everything. - Exterior: Small, but with an inviting outdoor patio. - Ambiance: Casual. A vegan/vegetarian restaurant with the look and feel of the 1960s and 70s. I was around and that's a good thing. - Menu: Creative and inventive. Who says vegans and vegetarians can't be delivered great choices? - Food: Unbelievably good and healthy. I ordered the Nourishment Bowl with an extra Falafel ($20) which had a variety of super ingredients. Filling and tasty! One of those each day and I'll live to 100. My wife had Tempura Tacos ($16)...a plate of 3 large and, of course, healthy tacos. So big she gave one away. Others orders included a Nourishment Bowl with extra Tofu ($26)...Cucumber Salad with Tofu ($17)...and Summer Shoyu Ramen with Tofu and Chili Oil ($30). Nobody could believe how good these were...especially with preconceived notions of vegan dishes. - Service: Very good. Our server, "PM", was friendly, informative and helpful. - Price and Value: Not cheap, but reasonable Cons: - Bathroom: As with many small restaurants, the bathrooms are shared with other establishments. No problem. But it was kind of far away and not the cleanest. - Parking: You'll probably need to walk a few blocks since the downtown core of Banff has many more shops than parking spaces. Not only would we recommend Nourish for dinner, but we ordered take-out for lunch the next day and THAT was great!
