I first saw Dr. Davis from a referral from my friend Joan after getting into a car accident when someone rear ended me in a violent intentional accident New Year's Eve morning from a driver who was dangerously intoxicated. My vehicle sustained damage from a collision from the rear and I had neck pain, chest pain, and back pain. I went to the emergency room because the pain was so bad and my body was out of alignment. I live in San Francisco and to see Dr. Davis, I have to drive to Alameda which can be 45 minutes one way and pay toll. Because he was highly recommended, I made the trip out there to see him. Prompt response & communication - I emailed Dr. Nguyen and got an appointment scheduled the next day. Through the sessions, it was easy to set appts which helped me align my appts with my work schedule 2. Professional - The consultation was thorough and Dr. Nguyen walked me through my injuries and the treatment plan. 3. Results - I've started off with 3 appts a week then trickled it down to 2/week. I felt improvements by week 2 & felt better than how I was was prior my accident (I had previous back pain from work and posture). I'm about 25 visits in & I feel brand new. Dr Davis helped me to heal from a neck injury in just a few sessions. His clinical assessment matched results from my MRI. After I injured my neck moving boxes right after delivering a baby, I lived with pain and numbness in my arm and fingers for a month, doing physical therapy as prescribed by Kaiser. I have had fair share of doctors who felt that they are too good to talk to me or too good to give much of their time to patients. This was my first time being in a car accident and having to see a chiropractor, so I was quite nervous about going under physical treatment since I also have a mild case of sclerosis. Dr. Nguyen saved me from so much pain, I can't recommend this dude highly enough. I pinched a nerve badly in my back, to the point where I could barely walk. I was able to make a same-day appointment with Dr. Nguyen. He saw me right away and took care of my pain. I feel 100 times better, thanks to Dr. Nguyen. His office is spacious, with different treatment rooms. They accept most major medical insurance and if you aren't covered by insurance, the cost is very reasonable. The pain reduced after a few visits. My previous chiropractor gave me sheets of paper on what exercises I could do. I remember some of the exercises made my lower back pain hurt even more. I was referred to Dr. Davis by a friend after involving in a terrible car accident happens on 880 North roughly a month ago. My lower back was in extreme pain. He is a friendly, professional and knowledgeable chiropractor. Right from the start, I can tell that he really cared for his patients. I woke up around 4am one Saturday morning in March 2020 (during COVID lock down) with extreme pain in my shoulder. Within 24 hours I was in debilitating pain from my neck down to my fingers which were tingling constantly. Because of COVID restrictions, I could only get phone calls and video calls going with Kaiser. I was assigned a Physical Therapist who was (and still is) helpful in managing the pain. I was told by both my MD and my PT that it was most likely a pinched nerve in the neck. It took several weeks for my body to respond to nerve medication and finally it responded to Gabapentin. It was only when I reached out again to Dr. Nguyen at Spine and Sport Chiropractic that I could even SEE anyone to care for me in person. He took the appropriate safety measures to see me during COVID. By this time it was April. I've seen many chiropractors in my life because I've had an itinerant life for over 30 years. I knew what kind of chiropractic care I wanted and what I didn't want. Above all, I did NOT want the "snap-crackle-and-pop" kind. I wanted someone who would be thorough in his or her care and who would ask me the right questions. This is what happened when I got to Spine and Sport Chiropractic. He examined me: did some strength and neck and arm mobility tests; he was able to treat me and give me some adjustments, some stretches to do, AND insisted I should push my doctor at Kaiser for an MRI or at the least, X-rays. In all the examining he did, he could tell I had most likely a herniated disc. Cut a long story short - I finally did get my doctor to order both x-rays and then an MRI (when the Xrays really didn't reveal very much). I wasn't able to get the MRI done till May and then had a follow up appointment with the neck specialist. Sure enough, it was a herniated disc as Dr. Nguyen had figured already back in April. The neck specialist at Kaiser only offered either continued use of Gabapentin for what could be up to a year or an epidural injection in my neck. The second was NOT an option as far as I was concerned. Not only was Dr. Nguyen an advocate for me in trying to get the right follow up from Kaiser, but he has provided the treatment I appreciate and seek in a chiropractor. For those who are interested in details, for my care, he uses one of those electric massage beds with a hot towel under my neck, along with electrolysis for muscle stimulation for about 15-20 minutes. Then he has me on the chiropractic table where he uses a combination of using an activator at different points on my spine and neck and then adjustments. He doesn't force my neck to "make" it crack if my neck is tight and too tense. When my neck DOES give, it is one of the most satisfying, healing feelings in the world! This is why I do try to do some stretches to relax my neck before going for consultations. I'm so grateful to Dr. Nguyen for his personalized care and work. While I am still experiencing tingling and am not fully recovered yet, I am on the road to recovery. I shudder to think of what pain I still would be experiencing if I had been left on my own with no personal care. read more
