She's pretty much cured now and is off back to her studies. Yay. Some people are cured with one visit. Totally couldn't recommend Claire more highly. If you don't know what chiropractors do - essentially they put your body back in the position it's supposed to be without all the cricks and misalignments that you have acquired in your long life and struggle against gravity. When my bones start to ache, a few Ibuprofen have generally taken care of things - but last year, after a few particularly heavy weeks at work, I started to develop a back-ache that didn't want to shift. On the recommendation of a friend, I paid a visit to the Cathedral Road Osteopath Clinic for a consultation and massage. I know there is some controversy around the science of (or lack of) at the heart of osteopathy, and I was slightly concerned that I would arrive to a room full of healing crystals and nonsense concerning the alignment of my aura. My fears were dispelled immediately when I entered this converted house on Cathedral Road, which has a reassuring and slightly dull air of conventional medicine. After a short wait, I was given a 40 minute consultation where my posture was checked, I was massaged and a number of bone crunching manoeuvres were applied to my back and shoulders that left me initially a little sore but then, after a day, much much better. It was also reassuring to hear that my posture and alignment were basically sound (although I was suffering from a little tension in the shoulders). I was given some good advice on improving my working environment, and some exercises I could do routinely to keep myself in shape. Open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm, the initial consultation costs £40 - and from my point of view, it was well worth it.

When I was offered a free consultation at the chiropractors, I grasped the opportunity with both hands. Even though I didn't expect there to be anything wrong with me, I thought it would be a good idea to find out for sure, at least for peace of mind. Prior to entering the surgery, I had assumed that I would no doubt be diagnosed with some form of long-worded ailment that required immediate attention and would then be roped into a follow up session at a hefty price. To my pleasant surprise, this was not the case. Instead I was given a brief interview, asked about my training techniques, sporting background and day to day living. I was then asked about what areas of the body had troubled me in the past and what had been the most recent area of irritation and then told to arrange a follow up session the next day which would also be free of charge. The following day, I returned to the surgery and was put through a number of standard physiological tests, where the chiropractor moved a limb a certain way and reviewed how my joints reacted, etc. Following the examination, much to my delight, I was told that I was in full working order, but I could benefit from incorporating certain exercises into my routines, and conversely removing others altogether. The advice I was given has actually helped considerably and I am and have been pain free for quite a while, which in past instances, has been a rarity. The chiropractor provided an efficient, friendly and most importantly professional service and I would recommend him to anyone with joint pain or bone problems. He knew exactly what he was talking about and gave me some good, useful advice that has been beneficial and he did so without stinging me out of a few extra quid. Basically I had a very dicky neck and for about two years I had trouble looking down and left. Within my 10 sessions at £13 an hour my neck can look any way it dan well pleases now. The staff were great and very knowledgeable, the tutors swell supervise and check you over swell to make sure there are no mistakes made. I felt utterly safe the whole time. You really can't go wrong here as it is so much cheaper than established places with the same results.
