I love spire because it's rare you find a gym that has full rowing classes. Spin classes are very popular all around, but spire has that added rowing plus. They do classes that are strength based as well if you're someone who doesn't want the full class on the bike (like me)! read more

4.5/5 Katie, our instructor for this ride, gets an immediate 5/5- she was absolutely phenomenal! Katie kept us up on our feet, both literally and metaphorically. Her energy is truly contagious and is a huge plus for Spire Fitness. Thank you to Yelp Elite for this opportunity, because I would've never heard of Spire Fitness before this. I've alway been a fan of Likewise, but if I had just turned around, there was Spire Fitness. As soon as you enter, you get a pretty New-York-brick-walled-apartment feel. The lockers are right ahead, around the corner are showers + restrooms, and at the very front are friendly staff members. As someone that's active through at-home workouts, tried out different workout classes around Milwaukee, and enjoys running/being outdoors, I thought Spire Fitness did what most fitness studios did; cycling shoes to clip into the studio bikes, lockers to put stuff into, refreshments to keep our energy high, lights + pumped music, and working equipment. I went for their Split 60 class, which felt like too much happening in too little time. The class was set up for you to do 30 minutes in their cycling studio and then 30 of strength + conditioning. The stationary bikes don't light up automatically, so you have to hit a button to see what your resistance is. The ride itself was for the most part fine because of our instructor's energy and the lights would go out every time we were going up a hill or building extra resistance which was nice. Otherwise, the cycling experience didn't feel any special than another studio's. The strength + conditioning experience was nice because there was someone to tell us what to do and amp us up if our mental was getting to us. I do think, though, that the space was too small for our class of about 15 people, so we ended up sharing dumbbells or squeezing into corners of the studio space. I would super recommend the experience of working out Spire Fitness for anyone that's near the area and is looking for a great staff of instructors. They have great first-time customer deals if you're interested and honestly, you could call the studio for more information and they'd be more than sweet to explain things through. I took the split60 class on a Tuesday evening with a friend and had a great time! First 30 was a spin class and second 30 was strength and conditioning. They have lockers with keys to put your stuff in, plenty of bathrooms, 2 private shower rooms and an extra room with a vanity to just get ready for whatever your day holds after the workout. For the spin class they provided shoes that snap into the pedals of the bikes as well as a towel. The spin class was awesome, very positive and encouraging, and the music kept the energy up! They were nice enough to give thorough instruction on how to adjust your bike seat so you were comfortable for the ride. The strength and conditioning class was right after in the other room. We went through a couple circuits that involved weights and a bosu ball. And depending on your instructor, if it's your birthday, you may get a little surprise addition to the workout. Overall I had a blast and hope to stop in again sometime. I'm a little out of shape and didn't feel like I'd get shamed for taking a breather in either class, which was nice. Booked Split60 on ClassPass while in MKE for work, and loved it! The instructor, Sam, gets a 10/10! She was high energy, positive, and I loved how she kept all of her comments strength and endurance focused instead of commenting about appearance (summer bodies, etc). The class was split into two parts: 1. Cycle. This was the BEST cycle class I've taken in years! So fun, adjustable to different levels and felt like a dance club in the best way. Great playlist too. 2. Strength. There were three stations, core, upper body, and lower body. We started with 30 seconds of each exercise, rested, and then did another set of each for 20 seconds. Honestly, I think three stations was too much for 30 minutes. Two may have been better, allowing time for a third set and a little less rushed feeling while lifting. However, the three rounds could've been specific to today's workout and not a standing format. Overall, the studio was clean, cute, everyone was helpful and positive, and I wish there was a Spire studio in DFW! read more

I discovered Spire through a Yelp Elite Event (kudos to Jessica J, our fearless Milwaukee Community Manager!). I've been attending, fairly regularly, TRX classes with Sam G since the first experience a couple months ago. I get intimidated by the "boutique style" fitness centers as classes are small, I'm an old t-shirt and leggings (usually terribly mismatched) workout attire person, and you can't hide in the back and die because you let yourself go and are way out of shape compared to the others in the class. I can't speak for the other instructors but Sam is AMAZING at assisting and making it less awkward. She also seems to have the same taste in music as I do, so it is easier for me to get into the music and concentrate on the exercise rather than feel intimidated and hopeless. The staff are always very friendly and the studio itself is super clean. They offer a variety of courses for spin, TRX, and crew (rowing). I really want to try the crew as the machines are hydraulic and they look cool. Spin scares me, but they offer "intro" courses, which I did sign up for ;) I always leave feeling accomplished and stronger than when I came in. I like that they have expanded their schedule to include evening classes during the week. I do wish they offered classes later in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays; I'm not the early bird that I once was and have accidently slept through a class (or two) and was charged the $19 no show fee. Oops. I will certainly continue attending classes for the foreseeable future. I look forward to the Spin Intro class and eventually getting to a Crew class. I have been taking a grand tour of cycling places across the city. Trust me when I say it's not my usual MO. I'd much rather been jamming to my playlist that hasn't been updated since 2013 on my ancient 2008 iPod at the gym by myself doing weights and cardio. But I jacked up my knee doing home workouts during quarantine, so I've been taking up cycling to try to strengthen it. I stumbled on Spire. Years ago my friend told me she loved it, and I live within walking distance. I gave it a once over, and I quickly got hooked. Unlike any other cycling class I've tried, Spire's Rhythm Ride are just FUN. I barely stare at the timer on my bike. The music is bumping. The studio is clean. Best of all, the staff are so sweet. The other day, I tried one of their TRX classes which uses suspension ropes. I had to leave a class early because it was just getting to be too much for my knee. I was really impressed that someone checked in and made sure I was OK. I always get a bit nervous going to work out studios because I'm more of a ratty T-shirt and leggings from a thrift store kind of girl. Not exactly the typical aesthetic of a studio. But everyone at Spire has been so sweet and welcoming. This place is the real deal, guys. Check them out! read more

I found Spire after downloading ClassPass on my phone and I'm so glad I did! It's a cute little boutique gym in the third ward, that while being small and as I under stand it independently owned is quite professional. It reminded me of SoulCycle and I originally thought it was a chain. Everyone was super helpful and friendly - both staff and other students. Classes: I've done the rhythm ride (cycling with music), ride + (with weights) and HIIT classes. They also offer TRX, a rowing class, and I probably another format I'm missing. The classes are 45 min which I've come to love as a format. I thought all the instructors were great and had great playlists although Emma's thurs night cycle was probably my fav. They have nice touches like giving you a certain color towel if your a newbie, your name on a chalk board and a free rental of cycling shoes for first time (otherwise you bring them or rent em for $2) They offer 530 am classes which is great if you have to get to work early. They offer locking lockers and showers although theres usually a line after the morning class. Looks like they offer unlimited memberships. Really enjoy Spire Fitness. Wide variety of options for classes: Spin, TRX, strength and rowing. I prefer the strength classes which are a mix of strength (free weights) and rowing machines. Great cardio and strength workout. Instructors are very knowledgeable and energetic. Size of classes range. Spin classes can be from 10-30 people while the strenth and TRX classes are usually a max of 10. Highly recommend Kahmelaah. Great energy! read more

A rejuvenating, moderately challenging and downright fun experience with awesome people! I walked into Spire after work feeling a mix of excitement & apprehension. I left one hour later feeling incredibly strong and satisfied. From the moment I entered the building, I was met with kind, down to earth people. This place is not pretentious. Nor is it intimidating even though they offer niche, boutique workouts. I elected to do the Crew class - something you don't see at most workout facilities which sets this place apart in my book. The rowing room was small and intimate with about 5 or 6 total water rowers set up which makes for a more personalized experience. The machinery is a work of art. Makes rowing smooth as butter with a gentle swish-swish to give you that "on the water" feel. People of varying fitness levels where in the class and there is a bit of a "go at your own pace" worked into the overall class routine which helped take some pressure off. Even if you don't think you will survive this class - you will and you will be happy you did! The instructor was kind, didn't call people out or put you on the spot and had a calm presence about her. I was surprised by how much a full body rowing is. It isn't about the arms at all (like I thought!) Motivational music helps you dig deep through those tougher moments too. There are lockers on-site and free to use as well as bathrooms and showers. The overall space is on the smaller side, but you can't beat the Third Ward real-estate. Class schedule is available for all on a huge wall mount inside the space. Some classes start as early as 5:30 am. The only downside is I did find it hard to find Crew classes that worked with my availability. I wish there were more of these offered- re: at least one AM and one PM sesh each day of the week. The unlimited monthly class passes seem to be worth it - oh! And they have some discounts too like your first class is offered at a discounted rate and there is a student discount too. read more

My most fav studio in Milwaukee to work out in! I've checked out a lot of the great spots to sweat in town but Spire is the one I always go back to. Everyone that works there is super welcoming, helpful, and not at all intimidating. My fav class is Terrain Ride on the spin bikes -- music driven profiles to tackle big hills and long sprints. I always feel like I got my a** kicked by the time I'm done... the best feeling! Definitely check out their other offered classes too; some that include rowers and TRX straps. I tried two weeks for $20 and loved it! There's a great variety of classes and all of the instructors are helpful and so kind. I brought my old peloton shoes and they helped me switch out the clips before class. The instructor even waited a few minutes to let me clip in before she started class. Such a fun environment! The best spin studio in milwaukee! I've tried many other spin classes at big box gyms and smaller boutique studios but I've returned to spire regularly for years. Always very clean and the spin room is dark and cool with the instructors being able to control the lights to go with the music which is always on point. I had been thinking about trying Spire for months but was always intimidated about going to a group cardio class. I am naturally not a fan of cardio but dang, I first tried the Rhythm Ride class and it was SO FUN. The music and lighting paired with the instructor's cues makes it a really engaging class. You basically work to cycle at the pace of the music- which is somewhat intimidating but it's really fun. The music really gets you all pumped up and want to stay at pace. Also, you can totally go slower or take breaks when needed...which everyone does throughout the class. The room is somewhat dark, so you feel like you have some privacy...even though you're right next to someone else on a bike. If you are worried- don't be! The staff is SUPER friendly and inviting. Gabby and Whitney have been my instructors so far and both have been great! Can't wait to make this a regular part of my week. I use the ClassPass app to book classes - so easy! read more

If you're looking for a workout that gets your heart pumping and doesn't include any complicated steps/choreography--Spire is your jam. I was searching for a workout to slough off the winter doldrums when I came across stellar reviews of Spire. I paid for a single class and made a reservation for a Monday afternoon Rhythm Ride. They recommend getting there 15 minutes early for your first ride in order to get situated on your bike. From the moment I arrived to the minute I left, the entire staff at Spire conspired to make it a wonderful experience. What to expect: You'll arrive, check-in, and if you've not been there before they'll give you a quick tour. They provide towels as well as clip in shoe rentals (free for newbies). You'll then enter the cycling studio to choose and get situated on a bike (again, if you're new, they'll help you out). The instructor is on an elevated platform and has a mic, so you can see and hear him/her at all times. For the Rhythm Ride, our cycling was coordinated to music (the tempo). The lights are low and I love that you can just kind of get in the zone. I've been to other indoor cycling studios (in other parts of the country) and can honestly say that Spire provided the most intense, heart pumping workout of them all. I also love that uncoordinated dinks like me can accomplish the workout without humiliation. You know that girl in the back of Zumba classes that the instructor keeps having to help until she finally moves across the room to slowly do the moves right next to her? I'm that girl. I am absolutely obsessed with this place. 4 months ago, my friend dragged me to my first spin class and honestly I was dreading it. I was prepared to hate it, but I completely fell in love! Not only are all the instructors motivating, and up beat, but the classes are always different and fun. You can take rowing classes, trx, and spin. They also offer a recovery class on Sundays that are such a nice way to end the week. I took a trx class on Tuesday with Johnno, and my body is still crying. Since deciding to give up Ironmans, I have been looking for a new gym to join. I did a quick google search of gyms in my area, and came across SPIRE and decided to cash in on their new client special of 1 month unlimited classes for $85. First, their online class schedule makes viewing and registering easy. I easily chose a class type and time that worked for me. My experience at SPIRE was great, too. I got a swift orientation on my first visit, and every employee was really friendly. Some even went out of their way to ask my name and welcome me to SPIRE. My cycling class was challenging and upbeat, with a motivational instructor to keep me pushing on. I can't say enough good things about Spire. Like, whoa. I just now started with their new member $85/first month deal, and I have been all-around blown away in the first week. When you first sign up, get there a little early so someone can show you the ropes. I'll admit, I was a little nervous, and walking into a new gym is never easy. You can feel intimidated, left out of the "gym clique" and chances are you may not be naturally good at the workout. But I didn't feel that way. Right when I walked in, at least 3 different workers started helping me. THREE. They were legit so nice I wanted to be their best friends. Like, I wondered where such nice people had been all my life. It was a relaxing breath of fresh air! The first class I signed up for was Ride + (means it included arm weights) and I was so impressed with how EXHAUSTED I was. It was tough, and exactly what I needed. The instructor was amazing and the entire class was just so energetic. And all the classes are 45 min, so they go by fast, which I like. Makes you want to come back for more each week. On my second day, I signed up for TRX lead by Hubie. I was running late (again nervous) and so I called to let them know. I walked in a few min late and got started and during the class Hubie showed me techniques, and then asked my name and thanked me for calling in knowing I'd be late. He could have easily been a little annoyed I was late since these classes do fill up, but he was freaking awesome. Seriously. They also have a ton of variety and a ton of time slots available each day! Many can be booked, but they have so many, you're bound to find something. From cycling to TRX to rowing to random yoga and running classes, you can't get bored! Can't wait to try them all. Anyway, I can go on and on about this place. You aren't just paying for a gym. I was not disappointed -- such friendly staff, a truly fun, energetic workout and the best beats!! We took rhythm ride by Whitney and she was hilarious and had such great energy. It was my friend's first spin class and she found the choreography challenging but manageable, so this is a good class to bring newbies to :) Your first ride comes with complimentary shoes but if you have your own, their bikes are SPD compatible. I recently turned 50 and I've been looking for ways to get cardio into my life again that doesn't involve running outside or a treadmill. Well, I think I've found it. My girl suggested Spire once I started talking about buying a rowing machine. Let me tell you, this was a great idea. Their morning class was quite fun and quite active. They definitely had me moving and sweating. The coolest part was that you didn't just row. They had several different excercises that gave you a full body workout. The entire 45 minute session never got stale and it kept you moving. The instructor was friendly and motivating without being obnoxious. This was a great way to start the morning. Danielle is my favorite. Her class is fantastic. I love the amount of energy coming from the front row Come dress for spinning with normal bike shorts and shirt. Occasionally there is a dude there w a shirt off, but I think it makes me work harder. Couldn't be hAppier about the staff. Couldn't wait for the new addition of instructor Zander.
