Took Lauren's spin class this morning and LOVED IT! I always make sure to come to Spire when I'm in Milwaukee!!

really enjoyed HIIT and rhythm ride so far!

I found Spire after downloading ClassPass on my phone and I'm so glad I did! It's a cute little boutique gym in the third ward, that while being small and as I under stand it independently owned is quite professional. It reminded me of SoulCycle and I originally thought it was a chain. Everyone was super helpful and friendly - both staff and other students. Classes: I've done the rhythm ride (cycling with music), ride + (with weights) and HIIT classes. They also offer TRX, a rowing class, and I probably another format I'm missing. The classes are 45 min which I've come to love as a format. I thought all the instructors were great and had great playlists although Emma's thurs night cycle was probably my fav. They have nice touches like giving you a certain color towel if your a newbie, your name on a chalk board and a free rental of cycling shoes for first time (otherwise you bring them or rent em for $2) They offer 530 am classes which is great if you have to get to work early. They offer locking lockers and showers although theres usually a line after the morning class. Looks like they offer unlimited memberships. I could definately see this place being addictive!

A rejuvenating, moderately challenging and downright fun experience with awesome people! I walked into Spire after work feeling a mix of excitement & apprehension. I left one hour later feeling incredibly strong and satisfied. From the moment I entered the building, I was met with kind, down to earth people. This place is not pretentious. Nor is it intimidating even though they offer niche, boutique workouts. I elected to do the Crew class - something you don't see at most workout facilities which sets this place apart in my book. The rowing room was small and intimate with about 5 or 6 total water rowers set up which makes for a more personalized experience. The machinery is a work of art. Makes rowing smooth as butter with a gentle swish-swish to give you that "on the water" feel. People of varying fitness levels where in the class and there is a bit of a "go at your own pace" worked into the overall class routine which helped take some pressure off. Even if you don't think you will survive this class - you will and you will be happy you did! The instructor was kind, didn't call people out or put you on the spot and had a calm presence about her. I was surprised by how much a full body rowing is. It isn't about the arms at all (like I thought!) Motivational music helps you dig deep through those tougher moments too. There are lockers on-site and free to use as well as bathrooms and showers. The overall space is on the smaller side, but you can't beat the Third Ward real-estate. Class schedule is available for all on a huge wall mount inside the space. Some classes start as early as 5:30 am. The only downside is I did find it hard to find Crew classes that worked with my availability. I wish there were more of these offered- re: at least one AM and one PM sesh each day of the week. The unlimited monthly class passes seem to be worth it - oh! And they have some discounts too like your first class is offered at a discounted rate and there is a student discount too.

It was busy when I went (5:30pm on a Monday) which made getting a leg or arm circuit done on the weight machines a bit tricky. Now, if you wanted to use an elliptical or other cardio equipment those machines were mostly open. Some things I absolutely loved about this WAC location: The indoor track inside (9 laps = one mile). In the winter, it's like you're walking in a snow globe. There are huge floor to ceiling windows that offer great city views. The staff! Very warm, helpful, patient and kind. The steam room and sauna in the locker rooms. Keys to lockers are provided as well as towels and there's shaving cream in the locker room showers. Free parking so long as you download the parking app used here and scan the QR code before leaving the gym (parking is free for up to 3 hours). Olympic size/caliber weight room on the second floor (this gym is only two floors and does not have a gym). After my one day workout sesh, will I be back? If I lived downtown on the east side of the city then yes I would hop on the WAC train and member up. But being a 15 minute drive from downtown, and not always in the mood to workout after work I don't think I will be calling this gym "mine" any time soon. Regardless, it was a lot of fun to try this location out and to see the nice amenities the WAC has to offer downtown.

While one of the smaller WACs, it has lovely views of the city from its location on the 6th floor of the 411 building. Theres an indoor track that runs along the outside of the gym, and a second floor (the 5th) has more weight training areas and another group exercise studio. They do a lot of classes if you're into that sort of thing, and while the equipment isn't super fancy it gets the job done and there isn't usually too long of a weight fot anything. The great thing about the WAC is I consider it a "full service" type of club with free lockers, towels, coffee, very nice showers and other services (for a fee ) like PT and massage. The WAC is more expensive than a planet fitness but you definitely get what you pay for here No pool sadly at this site but there is a steam room (and maybe a sauna?) In the locker room. Nice friendly environment to work out in - 5 stars!

However, they are on Class Pass so I am able to book my classes for here right through the app. The class that I go to on Saturday mornings is the strength circuit course with Robert. It is hands down my favorite class in Milwaukee. It is so tiny and intimate so you feel very comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and getting minor corrections to better improve your form/strength. Every Saturday I go, the class is different in some senses. There is always a TRX, floor and mat part to the class but the movements are not the same. The class is only 45 minutes so it goes by quite quickly. Robert is a terrific instructor and can provide help to men/women of all ages. Thanks to a Meet Milwaukee/yelp event, myself and about 10 fellow yelpers got to sample a free class in their Milwaukee-river-overlooking yoga studio. I've heard many great things from different people over the years, and since it's in the neighborhood, I'm not really sure how I'd never been! But I was glad to check it out. The facility is super clean, modern and new. They have a workout area, said yoga and (I think) offer massage and other therapeutic services. The yoga studio was really nice. Lots of props available, a great sound system, lots of windows on the river and a class that was an easy enough intro for a yoga newbie, but our instructor suggested plenty of modifications if you have been doing yoga longer too. Looking online too, they offer different kinds of yoga classes, so I'm thinking its just a matter of finding the style you like best. Thanks and Namaste:)!

It's a niche exercise facility obviously...you're basically coming there for hot yoga -- the regular class, slow flow, candlelight or beginner - all those are pretty self explanatory. Each teacher has their own style of playlist but I usually love all the music choices here. if you haven't take yoga classes (esp hot yoga classes) you may balk at prices but from going to other places, their prices are some of the most reasonable in the city. And if you're not sure and are new you can try the "10 days for $10" special where you can try out as many classes as you like in 10 daysfor 10$. It's hot in the studio (seems to go anywhere from the 80s to over 100)so bring a mat sized towel (and maybe a small one too)a long with your mat cuz you're probably gonna sweat! Props for class are free for use. Only thing to remember is there's no showers-just changing rooms and bathrooms, and parking is pretty much street-only (with a lot of it being metered.) I'd highly recommend walking or biking. Namaste, yelpers! .

The classes were packed, so spacing our mats was hard, but we made room. Shows how popular it was! We began with beginner sessions and moved up to harder classes. I had a great time and loved how calm I felt after! We also took classes that were simple flow and stretch. I have not returned since COVID but I did enjoy my time at this facility! First, booking is extremely easy with their power cycle app. You can see what type of ride it's going to be, who the instructor is, and even pick your bike location in the room which is great. When you arrive, you are always met by a friendly face at the front desk. They'll check you in, remind you of your bike location, and offer you the shoes that clip into the bike. I was hesitant to wear the rented shoes but they seem to do a really good job cleaning them. Their facility overall, from the lockers to the bikes to the bathrooms, is always very clean and bright. I love the white minimalist aesthetic. After going into the cycling room, you'll realize the aesthetic is more moody. The room is dimly lit with a purple glow and the lights change throughout the ride which is kind of party like and fun. There are screens that show you how fast + heavy you're cycling throughout the class, and it's a good guide to stay on track for getting the most out of your workout. I love that it's easy and intuitive to understand the information on the board. Energy is always high and competitive, yet everyone is super friendly and motivating. It's so hard to find group exercise like this where you feel comfortable to show up the best you can, even when the class may be cycling faster/heavier than you, so I love the environment powercycle has cultivated. The music mixes are amazing- there's something in each mix for everyone! I love hip hop Saturday's with Ty, Marissa + Sam dual rides, and Marissa's strength classes (taught in a separate room using barbell weights). After class the instructors lead you through light stretching for your legs then you go back to the lobby to return your shoes/towel, grab your things and you're all set. You'll receive an email from Powercycle immediately after your class with your statistics attached. They also keep your stats in the app under your profile. I love this feature as it allows me to track my performance and growth.
