Clinics and surgery dates are very flexible with appointments late evening or at weekends which is great if you're under any pressure to minimise disruption at work! In all departments they offer complimentary tea and coffee facilities...a nice touch but don't expect to be waiting long. I was a regular attender here at the end of last year and I can honestly say I had a great experience. I had an overnight stay post surgery in a very quiet ensuite room. I developed insomnia frustratingly but the staff kept popping their heads in to offer me pain meds and hot chocolate. Both as an inpatient and in outpatient clinics my surgeon,nurses and physios were all absolutely fantastic...cannot fault the service at all!

I cannot complain about the service I receive from here,it has always been the best on offer. There are no nightmare receptionists,customer care seems top priority and everyone is treated with respect and warmth. The building is light and airy and very welcoming and has an open reception desk.There are lots of self help and information leaflets available and a notice board area.Plenty of comfortable seating,a childrens play area and toilets. They offer a physio service at the surgery should you be unlucky enough to need it along with the usual health and support clinics.There are plenty of staff to help with queries ect and the whole surgery seems so well organised and the staff efficient and well trained. Always five star service here.

My husband and I have both used this surgery for many years and have never had reason to complain. It is important (when you are 70+ and 80+) to know you will see friendly faces when you have reason visit the doctor.

Thought I'd write this review on the back of having attended this hospital for daycase surgery…read moreyesterday in addition to several outpatient appointments prior to this. Unlike the RVI the Freeman is situated just outside of the city centre in High Heaton/South Gosforth but remains easily accessible by car, bus or metro. It has a lot of speciality services including the regional Transplant Centre and the new build Northern Centre for Cancer Care. I'm a massive advocate of the NHS and am well aware of the pressures but every time I attended an outpatient appointment I was kept waiting for between 1 and 3 hours which is where they lost a star. Waiting areas were cramped and didn't offer any drinking facilities other than water of course and I wasn't permitted to leave to get a coffee neither (which for a caffeine addict was difficult to take!) That said.....the staff are all incredible! Obviously rushed off their feet and yet always willing to go the extra mile to ensure every individual is cared for, particularly on the ward. I was given privacy and treated with respect. Every step along the way meeting the doctors, anaethetists, physio's and nursing staff they would have a laugh with you to make you feel at ease and they promptly organised home prescriptions and follow up appointments. I was in significant pain post surgery and the nurses were wonderful...promptly giving me a cocktail of meds which settled it nicely and they offered me regular coffees/toast. Overall I'd say persevere with the waiting times and try not to let it cloud your overall judgement as once through the doors the care is exceptional and all credit to everyone in the NHS who works hard to make patients like me feel lucky to have such a great healthcare system in place!

Belinda examined me, took x-rays & relieved the exyreme pain whilst I was there. I came away feeling telieved & hopeful. Belinda managed to see me 2 days later for my follow-up chat to discuss the x-ray results. She gave me my first alignment treatment & we planned the schedule of treatments for the folliwing week. I live one hour's drive from Hexham & I'm very impressed with my treatment plan.

Dr Newbegin has treated me during this period and what an excellent doctor she is ,her knowledge, helpfulness and communication skills ( essential in a diverse community such as Fawdon ) are first class,she is a credit to the group. The nurses , also , are worthy of praise , they welcome you like a long lost friend and are very skilled with your treatment. The reception team have to bear the brunt of an entire nations problems (appointments ) and they do it with control and politeness . Overall, I am very happy with the service. Except that if I treated people the way the auxiliary staff at this surgery do, I'd be sacked. Today was no exception. I went in for fertility testing- the NHS isn't known for its bedside manner, but this is a pretty heartbreaking thing my husband and I are going through. The nurse who does the blood work is always incredibly nasty but but because I was so upset about these tests, I tried to be cordial. She was just rude in return and even argued with me about a form I was supposed to have- a form that I've never had by the way. It takes weeks to get appointments here, plus this testing is time sensitive, and this awful woman almost didn't do my blood work because of a non existent form. I left the room in tears but couldn't go home because I had to renew a prescription. The woman at the front desk never once made eye contact with me but still managed to be extremely rude as well and treated me like I was stupid. All while never looking up from her computer. So, if you like waiting 2-3 weeks for an appointment where you will more often than not get treated like crap, this surgery is for you!

They are there to help and they certainly go out of their way to help. The practice is fairly big, has a selection of toys for children to play with whilst you wait, the receptionists are lovely and friendly.
