First off they carry the Lamp Berger products (lamps/fragrance holders). These are a French based company going back to the early 1900s and so lovely to look at it! I saw quite a few places selling them in Paris and I just loved to look at the pretty bottles so I was happy to discover I could buy one here! So many designs from the streamlined to the blingy. Think of large perfume bottle type of shapes. They are expensive but I heard the liquid you buy lasts quite a long time. They had 3 liquid bottles for $20 which I think is a great deal considering most of the lamps are about $50-$100 here depending on the size/design but it's a functional as well as decorative piece. There are the typical Yankee Company candles sold here as well as some really unique candle holders. The owner is really friendly and she has a lot of knowledge about the products sold.

We got our drinks (included in the candle making class), while waiting for others to show up for the session. Once in the room, we were instructed by our candle teacher how to mix notes and scents together, it was super fun; especially for my two girls and surprisingly for mr. Tran too. Such a cute thing to bring your family to, or even a date night.

However, I thought the instruction we received was rushed; the way our instructor was speaking was monotonous, as if they instructed the same class 100 times prior. Several times throughout the class, the instructor tried to upsell us (eg "healing crystals"), which I was not a fan of, considering what we already paid for the class. The class lasted an hour; you can select your scent, vessel, and name of the candle. We paid $250 for a couple, plus tip for the Glowness Experience, which is their more premium class. Based on the instruction we received, and the quality of the class, I think this is a bit over priced.

We were promptly asked by someone if we needed help but we were okay just exploring on our own. It's kind of great that this store specializes in hand sanitizer so you don't have to be wary of germy hands! They have a sink here as in most Bath & Body Works so you can wash up after testing out their different offerings. A lot of the Fall scents are a little spicy this year! Pleasant though. The 3 wick candles were $15 off which were pretty awesome.

The strangest aspect of this store is the shortage of staff working BEHIND the counter. That's the most irritating aspect of the store and I've actually walked out without purchasing products because the wait in line was so long. This place is owned by the same company that owns Victoria Secret, La Senza, and PINK, so you can expect to be immersed in fragrance as soon as you walk in. That being said, the sales are regular and it's not hard to get a discount if you wait a week or so because the promotions are constantly running.

If you buy three plants, you get a fourth one for free. Yes, please! This special was to celebrate Chive's 20th anniversary. Wow! Staff were super friendly, welcoming me and being on hand for any questions that I may have. I browsed for quite some time. There was a lot to take in. I checked out the plants. They all looked leafy and healthy. The succulents caught my eye. They were cute and I didn't have any until I picked up four of them. My original thought was to get more air plants. Sadly, this store only had fake ones. I found that to be interesting. I saw a Venus fly trap. I've always wanted one ever since I learned about it in grade two. It was going for $30, which was more than all four plants that I purchased. Maybe next time! This store had cool vases and misters. They were on the pricier side, so I didn't get any. I had the nicest woman at the checkout. She was trying various codes to get me the best deal, which I appreciated. I paid with a debit card. She carefully placed all my plants in a paper bag. She let me know that she'd staple the bag, to make sure that my plants were safe and warm. I appreciated her extra care. I got my receipt texted to me, to save a bit of paper. I thanked her and happily left the store with my new succulents. They are cute and still alive! I am about to repot them because their roots are poking out of their respective tiny pots. These succulents are a cheerful addition. I parked on a side street. It's one-hour of free parking. I ended up parked for nearly three hours. My car was still there and I did not get a parking ticket. Otherwise, if you can nab a parking spot along Queen Street West, it's Green P parking. I enjoyed my experience at Chive. At the end of the class I made 1 big jar of candle and 6 smaller ones. I made also got to choose my preferred fragrance from a variety of options. Would recommend!

Came across Yummi Candles while leaving Restorative Hardware Cafe. It is a pop up shop on your…read moreright just a few steps north of RH. Yummi Candles are known to burn for hours. They are usually sold in bulk for events like weddings. They are also made in Canada. This pop up store is unique because they have a station to customize your own votive scented candles. The votive range from $6-8 which includes the scented candle of your choice. Like I mentioned earlier they usually sell their candles in bulk. In this case, you can't just buy one votive but you have to buy 6. You can choose 6 different scents. The staff here are really helpful and must have a good memory for scent. It takes about an hour for your custom votives to be ready. If you have time you can watch the process. I had bought a set of custom votives in the scent of tobacco and vanilla. I think whoever made my candles did not put enough of the oil in that I didn't smell anything! I had given one to my friend who also had a fragrant-less candle votive. We had it lit for hours! I took it back to the store and they offered to remake it for me but I didn't want to waste time to come all the way back if it was still the same. They were pretty good at getting the permission to give me a refund on my already lit candles. I would have given them a 5 star if I didn't have to return my custom votives. Their already made candles have no problems! The pop up shop is open until the end of the year. It would make a great gift for candle lovers. They also offer a workshop at the distillery district, but that's a review for another day
