My stepdaughter just wanted to swim. In March. Ha! But I wanted to make it happen for her so I googled around and found Splash Landings. Off we went. At $6 a person, it's a little steep. More than what we're used to paying for outdoor summer swimming. But it certainly didn't break the bank. The pool is cute. There's one large slide that was closed when we were there (the hours for swim and the slide are clearly laid out on the website so we knew that going in). There's also a small slide for the little guys as well as some water spray features. My 3 year old loves zero depth entry pools so he was thrilled. There's also a second pool that was deep enough for my stepkiddo to get her swim on. There were three lap pool lanes open as well. Again, the hours for all this is on the website. The staff is kinda meh. The woman working the desk was not sure what was going on but the life guards were nice. The locker rooms are nicer than I was expecting. There's also a couple family shower/bathrooms which is nice. Bring a lock and towels! read more

I took my kids there once, the water and the room temperature was so cold, my daughter turn purple and don't want to stay any more. After that, we just don't want to go back because of that. I would really want to like the place, and always looking for a long term indoor pool for me go swimming. I don't even like to use outdoor swimming pool during summer due to water actually pretty cold most of the time during the season. Why would I want to go to a indoor pool and feel frozen. Would really like to consider using the pool if they can get their pool warmer, so is the room temperature. read more

It was a small place but it was a fun place for my 6 and 8 year old children. We went on Sunday and it was packed! But there was enough space to play. We went early March so water felt bit cold but what do you expect from park district pool. Don't forget to take a lock! read more

The woman at the front desk was very rude. She basically made up a lie because she didn't want us there.

After snagging a groupon to come here, it made for the perfect playdate. Kids under 2 years old are free which meant that two of the kids in our group were free. The lifeguards are more about enforcing the rules and aren't meant to be extra babysitters. Parents still need to keep a close eye on your kids and I would recommend using the complimentary swim vests, as well, especially if your kids are going to go down the slides.. They have several slides for the older kids (a kiddie slide and big kids slide) and fun water fountains to splash around in, as well. Kids under 9 must have an adult (16+ years old) there to supervise in proper swim attire. Also, kids must be at least 42" tall to ride the large water slide. We mostly stuck by the family section where it was about 1' tall where my 2 year old wandered around splashing about. Make sure that you bring your own locks for the locker rooms and towels, as well. The locker rooms were pretty spacious and customer service was very friendly and helpful. They also have a family changing room and a wiggles and giggles childcare service if you just want some alone time in the pool. Their Aqua shop also sells swim diapers, pool noodles and goggles. It's super affordable with a $6 daily admission fee or you can always purchase a public/family swim pass or a punch card. read more

Warm Water Therapy Pool, locker rooms, and staff is what this review is for. When I came here for therapy most of the time I was in the pool with just my therapist but occasionally their was another session going on. The water temperature for therapy sessions is warmer than that, of open warm water pool times. However that not to say the water is cold, it is warm. Check in with lifeguards behind desk. There are lockers just outside the pool area with 2 changing rooms/showers and 1 bathroom or you can use the larger locker room. In there they have a swimsuit spinner, I don't know the proper name but, it helps dries your bathing suit. Lock up your stuff head back through the maze of doors. The warm water pool has a chair lift should you need that but, most people just use the stairs with the rails to walk in. The shallow end has a bench so you can work on sit to stand exercises. The floor of the pool seems gritty in some areas. Sometimes there's something on the bottom of the floor I don't think they vacuum the pool on a daily basis or even weekly, but I don't know. The deep end is 6 ft deep. You can use a pool noodle to just let your body hang and feel weightlessness. Then continue to exercise. The staff are friendly but not overly, the lifeguards are not allowed to talk to you. The noise level in the room when other people are talking and or talking over each other can be quite loud there's no sound bumper. So it's can be very loud which is not something I really want when I come for therapy. When you come you would probably want to bring your own in noodle because you're not allowed to use any of the physical therapy things that you might have used when you were there. I would give zero star if I could because of the impatient and cold instructors that hurt my 4-year old's feeling badly today. My boy missed the first 2 classes. In his 3rd class, other kids who had 5 classes so far all did a better job than him. Both instructors became impatient and just left him struggling all alone behind other kids! My boy was super scared. He was weeping but neither of the instructors even tried to comfort him! Not even bothered to talk to him ! The heavier instructor let my son do the star fish float. The little boy was scared and will not let go of the instructor's arm. That woman literally took her arm away rudely and roughly. My son tried to grab her again only to have got his little hands pushed away multiple times. Horrible experience ! He told me he does not like swimming any more when we got home. First, you should not have left him behind and make him feel he is the worst one. He missed 2 classes, ok ? Second, you should not force him to struggle in the water before he is ready. Third, you are working with kids. That dirty cold face does not fit in here. This is absolute abuse to him. You made him feel he is bad at swimming. Our last session was with Will Dane and he made my boy proud of his progress and happy in every single class. This woman is way off. Preschooler class, Mon - Friday , 3:00-3:45 class. Decent sized kiddie area, with a zero depth entry area so it's very easy for little kids to get into the water. A toddler sized water slide and sprinklers provide lots of fun for the young ones, while older kids and adults can enjoy the main pool and larger water slide. I thought the larger slide was great, as about a quarter of the way down you're in pitch black darkness until you near the slide's exit. We went on a very hot Saturday, and shockingly there was no crowd, which meant plenty of room for us and the kids to swim and splash around. Admission was very reasonable, at $6 per person, while kids younger than 2 years old are free. We had a blast, and are already looking forward to going back. read more

While the facilities are clean (changing rooms, bathrooms, and pool area), the water and air temperatures were too cold for us to enjoy this place. I took my kids, 2 and 3, here on a summer day and it was freezing! I asked if they could turn up the temperature a little bit and they gave me a science lecture about how if I'm not moving around as much, it will feel cold. I'm not a swimmer so I generally just float around with my kids and I've been to other indoor pools where I don't feel like I'm in the North Pole. I also talked to another patron and she said that it was even colder the day before and it was because the staff hadn't turned on the heat. We finally decided to leave after just 30 mins when my 2 yr old's lips turned blue and she couldn't stop shivering. So unless you're training for the Polar Plunge in January, I would suggest a different place. read more

Four stars for family swim time / open swim - The facility is relatively new, and the zero-depth entry pool is great for little kids! The water is chilly, but the area is lively and fun for a quick swim. Two stars for swim lessons - I think the water is too cold to teach young swimmers effectively during a full 45-minute lesson. We've noticed whole classes of kids turning blue and shivering, and the staff refuses to raise the pool temperature because they say the cold water is for the lap swimmers' comfort. Instructors were generally unenthusiastic, and teacher turnover seems high. More importantly, the student:teacher ratio seems high as well-- i witnessed 5-7 kids for one instructor at times. For swim lessons, I'd recommend enrolling in a local swim school instead. read more

As a former instructor, it was apalling to see the lack of professionalism and care from the management. From emotionally abusing workers, treating them unfairly, and completely ignoring them, Splash Landings has made an impression on me that I will never forget. DO NOT enroll your children in these classes. If you want your children to be put in water that will turn their skin purple and have them shivering for 45 minutes, then by all means, enroll them. I talked to the management about the water temperature, but to my surprise and everyone elses, there were no actions Also, from an inside look on the instructor's mentality, they do not have one care for the kids. Always after swim classes, I would go back into the locker room, and I would hear continuous joking about the kids on their physical appearance and the way they act. It disguisted me to see the lack of care for the kids. And finally, to put a dagger in this place, why dont you ask the lifeguard management about the so called parties, nicknamed "guardies", or underage drinking meet ups that they throw themselves. With 15-17 year old teens all from the Splash Landing's dedicated staff! This is not libel, for I will self represent myself if any legal action is taken towards this posting. I have multiple instructors that will testify that these statements are nothing but the truth. I had my daughter's 6th birthday here. We did a private party so we could have the whole place to ourselves. The facility is great, two pools, a big slide and little slide. Party is two hours long, one hour in the pool, change, then about an hour in the party room. The teenagers they had working as the party assistants did a wonderful job! They worked their butts off! I wanted to really love this place. Who wouldn't want to take the kids to an indoor pool on a gloomy winter day? While the facility is extremely clean and well supervised, it could not make up for the fact that the water and air temperature were very much on the chilly side. I had read similar reviews and thought they were just written by delicate souls and our hardy bunch would be fine. Unfortunately lips were blue and bodies were shivering until my 11 and 6 year old jumped in a warm shower. Maybe on a warm sunny day things are different but we ended up spending about 45 minutes here before calling it a day. When it's summer and cold and rainy for days straight...what do you do?? Come to Splash Landing! This pool was my saving grace. My kids had a BLAST. The ones I took are my 10 and 7 year old - boy and girl. The waterside is big enough and even though the 'play area' isn't huge, they made the best of it and after 2 hours still didn't want to leave. And it wasn't that crowded. What I REALLY loved? The smell. Call me weird, but the whole place just looks and smells clean. Like i"m in vacation or on a resort somewhere. So nice. Very comfortable. (If you can get over some of the older crabby workers. Most are very sweet as can be but a few seemed rather annoyed and grumpy to answer questions...and as a writer, I can be annoyingly curious about even the tiniest thing!) But if you are in Chicago Northern area and need something fun to do inside with kids - Splash Landing Aquatic Center is the place to be. And if you are visiting for any length of time...they do have plenty of classes to sign up for! Think outside the box! And live a little! read more

This is a nice place to come with my son who is 18 months old. He loves running around and playing but I never go on weekends as its a madhouse! Way too many adults and children running around. Nothing special here a pool with a slide. The water is cold the room is cold and if you wanna sit down at all be prepared to sit on the cement floor as there are no chairs. To anyone who is thinking of going to this location. DON'T! I visited this area a few times and had a horrible experience. It was for last years groupon and also for a recent swims since I was in town for a week. To say the least my experiences were horrible. During groupon the staff was rude and did not have the common courtesy to say hello. They just moved you through the line like pigs being slaughtered. The managers were sub par and only talked to my family with a yell. The restrooms are nasty and filled with dirt, and the showers do not work nor have soap. They do not provide towels unless your a member and once you walk in the smell of sweat and clorine fill your nostrils...nice right? Not even finished, the deck is slimey and cluttered with trash and half the equipment dosent work. The pools are cold and if you bring your kid well you only get the small activity pool and a quarter of the lap lanes. Now for my most recent visit well i see that they are poorly staffed and from what it looks like they are just pulling whatever they can get because they guards there do not do thier jobs at all. From what i heard from my nephew who goes to a popular high school in the area that this place has lost its touch and that no kid wants to work there at all. Basically do not be fooled by the picture and description. This place and horrible and should be closed down. The management seems to be lacking some leadership also because the times I have asked questions they eier gave me a I don't know or a card with their supervisors name on it. read more
