I tried to get Laser Hair Removal at Statesboro Plastic Surgery on Monday (keyword: tried). Prior…read moreto coming, I asked the assistant on the phone if there was anything I needed to do to prepare for the appointment and I was just told to shave and not to use self tanner. The front desk assistant was absolutely phenomenal, but I will never be coming back after meeting Dr. Bisseck. I waited for him to come in for my appointment just for him to immediately turn me around because of my "black" skin. Dr. Bisseck told me he did not laser African Americans because their pigment was too dark and could result in hypopigmentation and adverse effects. Prior to coming, I did my research and most lasers have been equipped to do laser hair removal for African American people since the 1990s. Given the fact that he could not stop stressing the fact that he had one of the best lasers in the country, I would have thought that he would have been able to complete the procedure. He continually stressed the fact that my skin was too dark to be lasered (which was not true because I went to RenewalMD right after and they told me I was a perfect candidate due to my lighter complexion and dark coarse hairs) even though he never took the time to even look at my hairs. After telling me my skin was too dark, he continually tried to ask me if I wanted any other procedures, but I would not recommend doing anything with this company as a result of this treatment. After researching into Dr. Bisseck, I found out he actually went to an HBCU. This astonished me due to his treatment of African American women. I would not recommend this place to anyone and would send anyone interested in any procedures to RenewalMD for better treatment.
