We just bowled at the Burlington location and the experience was horrible! I paid for the VIP experience which was not even close to a VIP experience! The private area we had was not private as six teenage boys were to the right of us and we had to continue to ask them to get out of our lane area. The food area was filthy as was the screen where the scores and food and drink were ordered. The bowling machine broke down twice and the automatic scoring system screwed up on the 9th and 10th frames on two games -just so frustrating! The food we ordered took over 35 mins to receive and we only ordered potatoe sins and two beverages! We will not be returning to Splitville especially considering I paid almost $100 for 75 mins of bowling!! read more

While looking over the various reviews for this place before booking my child's birthday party here, I was quite anxious and worried about the poor reviews. Various one stars that spoke of poor service and overall experience. That being said, many of the reviews are quite old, ranging between 2-3 years ago, so I thought I wouldn't mind them and I'd go and find out for myself how they are. I am quite glad in my decision, and I want to set the record straight. While they may have done poorly in the past, the splitsville I saw the other day was remarkable in their service, and in their staff. I never write reviews, although I frequently check them, but I had to write this one as I felt their poor rating was beyond unfair. Here is why. For starters, their service was both fast and friendly. We've recently been bowling since our party and haven't been able to decide the cheapest option (by game vs. Hour) but the front desk people are always so kind and helpful in that regard. Comparing exact prices, telling us about the deals, etc. Some names I've come to know are Aidan, Jodie and Kiara, two of which helped host the party I had awhile back for my daughters fifth birthday. Kiara helped us get the shoes and was very patient despite the constant switching of sizes! I wish everyone was like that! Through various spills (tends to happen with 10+ 5 year olds!), needs for ramps, and constant changes for who wants bumpers, my party host Jodie was there to help. My daughter and her friends wanted pictures of themselves and the cake and she was seemingly happy to help, in between helping us with tons of food orders and making sure we always had what we needed. When she was caught up bringing food out or looked busy, Kiara was a huge help too! We had a party room and she helped us clean up a lot, and refilled our drinks too. Both ladies were very kind, not just to me, but my daughter and her friends too. When I go to book my sons party in a few months, I hope I can request Jodie as the same hostess. On games desk, a young gentleman with quite the bit of energy was very excited to help us- and friendly too! All the girls had five dollar game cards and often had questions about how the games worked, and he was always happy to answer them. He was so patient- I could never be! I don't remember his name, but he was very helpful. Our food was great. Our order was messed up at some point (cheese pizza instead of pep pizza) but whoever was serving us (not sure of the name. Something funny with a K) dealt with it and did so quickly. We got our correct order not long after and didn't mind due to the efficiency of how it was handled. The manager Steve greeted us at first when we came into the building as our party host was coming over, and he was very friendly and shook my hand. I saw him running around a bunch during both of our stays, and I'm glad to know he's a manager who does real work and helps the employees. My daughter, husband and I plan to come here more often after such positive experiences both times. The staff service was unprecedented, really pulling together the feeling of the place, the food was quite good and at a fair price (it is a bowling alley however, so be ready to break in that wallet!), and we had no problems while actually bowling. Clean establishment, loved the glow and the dark and the fun music. Thank you for making my daughters experience, and my own, a fun one! read more

Laid back place for a night of bowling. Came here with a group of 6. The line at the bar was pretty long so our friend missed a couple rounds. Nothing much to complain of.. interactions went smoothly and has a good time. Came here during regular price hours so the lanes were empty, but filled up right away by 9pm. read more

this is the WORST bowling alley I've ever bowled in, and I've been a league bowler for 25 years. the lanes are NEVER the same, and one lane (#5) is warped so your ball will fall into the gutter rather than hooking away. this is great for kids or new bowlers who throw straight down the middle but for bowlers...the worst. this week it's tight. next week it's loose. the guy using the oiling machine is absolutely useless. (it's probably a teenager). if you want to have fun with your 5-year-old. with loud music and video games...it's great. if you're a bowler...go to a bowling alley...not a family-fun center. I'm never bowling here again. and oh yeah...by the way...the pins have never been replaced. they are dead as hell. read more

I have to say that I am incredibly disappointed with Splitsville. Myself and four others went to Splitsville on a Sunday to have some fun. The first issue I have is the price. For 5 people to bowl for two hours the total was $70. We were sent to lane 11, however upon getting to our lane the table was covered in beer and empty glasses. In addition our game would not start, it just stayed on the start bowling screen. When we asked for assistance we were moved to another lane which also had a messy table. We cleaned the table ourselves and tried to not let it bother us and spoil our evening. After bowling for only a few frames the system crashed and would not let us continue. This proceeded to happen a number of times throughout our stay. The music was terrible, it ranged from a rap song sung by a 10 year old girl (that is not a joke, there was an accompanying music video) to what I can only describe as tribal chanting music. When I went to complain at the desk I was told I would have to wait as a number of other groups were complaining. We ended up leaving with a half hour left on our time. If I could I would give this establishment a 0/5 however I am forced to give them 1/5 which they do not deserve. Save your money and go somewhere else! read more

I lived in Burlington for over 3 years now and my daughters love bowling. We usually go to Burlington bowl at Harvester. But saw a Groupon for Splitsville and decide to try it out for 1 hour of bowling including shoe rentals for 6 people. When you go in the place is smaller than Burlington Bowl because they have a laser tag area as well as a play area where you win tickets for prize. We went through the shoe rental area and I'm a germaphobe so I hate wearing shoes where other people put their feet in it prior to me. Burlington clean their shoes well and most of it are in great condition. Splitsville however when you get the shoes it smelled bad. And most of it was in horrible condition. My daughters put on their shoes and walked right out of it because the Velcro was wearing off. I asked for another pair and the girl who looked like she's in high school gave me attitude. The entire place employed high school teens who didn't look like they wanted to be there let alone help anyone. They would of been happy just texting on their cellphone . We had to ask twice to get the guards on the lane pulled up for the kids. Food was expensive, $9 for a hot dog! And it took forever to make. I definitely will be sticking with Burlington Bowl and will not come back not even if the Groupon was 90% off!! read more

I went with a group of friends to Splitsville last night, and from start to finish it was probably one of the most disappointing nights out I've had in a very long time. I made a VIP reservation earlier in the week via the PrimeTime website (I didn't know it had gone through a re-brand - why is the PrimeTime website still live?) and when I didn't hear back from anyone I called in and made the booking with a young girl on Friday. I got a follow-up call from Sarah on Saturday morning saying she saw the note but no reservation was made; no problem I made it with her for 9pm - including the lane deposit (more on this later). I also confirmed that there was still a DJ for Saturday nights and was told there would be. 2 members of our party (of 7 in total) got to the bowling alley just before 9 and by the time the rest of us got there about 15 minutes later (the roads were horrible) they were still waiting; the lanes I'd reserved were given to another party and the manager Maggie was trying to figure out how to tell them to move/where to put them. She finally told us that they only had 3 frames left and that she would move them after that. Now three frames isn't a lot but for 7 people it takes a long time, 35 minutes to be specific. So we were just standing around like vagrants while the other party enjoyed the night & lanes that I'd reserved & paid for. Good thing I'd made a reservation & paid a deposit; but if we had been 40 minutes late would they they held the lanes for us? Or would we be told us that we paid for 2 hours from 9 so regardless we're done at 11pm. It was also great that when the other party was done and took their time to come out of the sitting section, they just went to high-top table directly behind us (still in the VIP section) to eat their food a shoot us death stares. We finally sat down (at 9:40 to be exact) and started our games, Maggie came over to give us an apology for the wait (no explanation) and told us she'd figure out some way to compensate us with free games or something (still waiting for that - not that we'll be back), I took this opportunity to ask where the DJ was - she said he called in sick about an hour before he was due to start but she can change the music - what did we want? I told her that I think most people like pop/top 40/80's she said great she'd find something. And by something she clearly meant trashy dance music; that was fun for 2 hours. But the absolute best part of the evening was when it was time to cash out: they had taken a deposit for $50, and on a total of $180 that left a balance of $130. My first question is why take a deposit and not just hold the funds and if we don't show up then you take the money? Hotels, car rental places, and countless other establishments do this and it would have made it easier on the manager who couldn't figure out how to charge people. Now that: when I asked her to return the deposit and then split the total 7 ways she said it can't be done - the deposit was taken (you just hit the refund button) and that I'd have to divide the balance between my friends and collect it that way (no) or she can charge me the entire thing and i can collect it that way (again, no - I'm not running a business). After about 5 minutes of her going back and forth to another guy behind the counter and fiddling with her calculator we had already figured out that it was about $25/pp and so one of my friends who had to leave just gave me $25 to cover her part and that negated the deposit. Now here comes the fun part. When the rest of the party (5 people) came to pay (remember the balance was now $130) she started putting through $18/pp, I asked her why she was doing that when 2 of us just paid $25 each she said oh, I didn't know what you were doing so I just divided the rest of it between the 7 of you. I had to walk her through the entire process and she still argued with me for 10 minutes - that if the total is about $25/pp and 2 people have already paid $50 (the deposit) you can't then divide the balance between the total number of people. It got really blurry because we all took turns trying to get her to understand the math and she kept telling us we were wrong and she was right because she had the calculator. Fun. She finally clued in and then had to charge the last 4 a different amount again because she only charged one person $18 - and her math was still off but at this point I had walked off to get my tab (I'm pretty sure she's still short). Oh and speaking of my tab, thanks to the bartender for changing me for the group's food - so it looks like I get to chase them for money anyway. Yay! After all of this there was no apology (except for the standard "sorry for the wait" when we finally sat down), no empathy, not even the offer to comp our $19 nachos. i usually go to Burlington bowl with my 2 granddaughters but I decided to try someplace different!! BIG mistake. I took my 5 and 7 year old granddaughters for a Saturday afternoon outing and chose this new place. We chose the 1 hour bowl which cost us 29.00 . Had I thought about it or had help from the girl on cash I would have chose 4.00 a game. Our hour started and 3x we had to look for help to get the points to show on the screen. My granddaughter knocked them all down but one pin and it gave her 0. Each time we had to get help it cost us time on our hour. We rushed to get a 2nd game started but it ended in the 8th line. Very disappointing bowling experience there. Then I decided to take them into the restaurant for a meal and as I was looking at menu a prompt and curtious bartender/waitress came to help us. She gave us some suggestions and we decided to get 3 grill cheese sandwiches and she told us it came with fries, and we ordered 3 pops. After quite some time , the order came and there was 6 grilled cheese sandwiches. 2 on every plate with fries. So they were double grill cheese plates. One of my granddaughters is 5 and she can't even finish one with fries . So I was shocked ,and told the waitress that there is no way we can eat 6 grilled cheese sandwiches So she very kindly took one back and said sorry for the misunderstanding . And I was willing to keep 4 grilled cheese even though I only wanted 3. A manager stopped her on her way back to the kitchen and brought it back to me with the menu and showed me where it says 2 grilled cheese on each plate. I explained that the waitress had helped us make the desision and I asked for 3 grilled cheese . You would think when they see a child they would say it comes with 3. I have never, ever ordered a grill cheese plate a got 2. So she packed it in a box and left it on my table . I told her to take it back because I would not be reheating a grilled cheese for my dinner. I believe the managers name was Sarah. The bartender/waitress felt really bad and gave me another name when I asked to call later to speak to someone higher up. She gave me the name Dayton that I could call. I explained to him about our first experience on Saturday and all he could say is I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience but there is nothing he can do about it! It is what it is. So after a horrible bowling experience , and a 45.00 grill cheese lunch...lol Shocking 45.00 for what we thought would be , 3 grill cheese and 3 pops ....worst grill cheese ever as well. First time I have ever wrote a review but I had when my day gets spoiled by the worst customer service everrrrrr. Beware!!!!
