Rented two e-bikes with shuttle service to ride the Hiawatha. The bikes were in perfect condition and set us up for an outstanding ride. Because it was a small business, the service was personalized and made it an unforgettable day. The owners, Stu and Brent, were knowledgeable and not only gave us great advice for our ride but shared some excellent recommendations for local restaurants to try. We had the BEST time renting e-bikes for our ride on the Route of the Hiawatha. Stu was kind enough to meet us early so we could load the bikes in our van (not the easiest task) and even let us borrow some pads so we didn't ruin the interior of our van during the drive. We rode the bikes like regular bikes down the trail and then rode them full speed the majority of the way back up. It was SO MUCH FUN! We are so happy we went with e-bikes vs. renting regular bikes and taking the shuttle. We couldn't recommend renting e-bikes more! read more

We reserved two ebikes from Spokehouse a week in advance before we were going to ride the Hiawatha Trail with friends. On the morning of the reservation, we arrived 10 minutes early for our 9:00 am appointment at their location in Wallace. One of the owners fitted us with helmets and said he was ready to take us up to the trailhead with our ebikes. We were to follow him and he would drop off the bikes and pick them up when we were done. After sitting in the car a few minutes waiting for him to pull out so we could caravan to the trailhead, he got out of his car and came up to our car and said that he just received a call from another customer that was to meet him at 8:00 that morning (who had not shown up yet) and he was on his way so we were going to have to wait for him before we left. We had already called our friends that we were meeting to tell them we were on our way so they knew to leave to meet us. Although we're not that happy about it, we realized we were 10 minutes early, so we were willing to wait even though we had already told our friends we were on route. Another 10 minutes went by and he came back to tell us that the other customer was going to be another 10 minutes or so, so we were going to have to wait longer. We told him that we didn't think that was right to make us continue to wait for someone who was over an hour late and had called twice to say he was going to be even later. (Who knew when he was actually going to show up) We suggested that he make that person wait and take us up to the trailhead now since it was already past our reservation time and we had several friends waiting for us. He was unwilling to do this and just kept saying we were going to have to wait. Another guy drove up, we assumed it was the other owner and he walked away to speak to him for a few minutes. The two of them walked up to our car and told us that since we were "already not having a good experience, that they were going to cancel our reservation". We told them we did not want to cancel our reservation, we wanted to rent the bikes and we wanted to leave for the trailhead as agreed upon. We again suggested that they should inconvenience the customer that was late and not us. At that point, they refused to rent us the bikes and told us we would be receiving a refund. They reneged on the agreement even though we had done nothing in the wrong, only insisting that they uphold their end of the agreement. They refused to rent to us, so we left and went and rented regular bikes at the trailhead. The two bikes were only $90.00 vs the $471.96 they charged us for the two ebikes. We absolutely DID NOT need ebikes for the Hiawatha trail (we are ages 58 and 65), so we saved almost $400 and had a great day even though it started with this bad experience! When we rented the regular bikes, we learned that these guys were kicked off of the mountain last year for renting ebikes that were not in accordance with the regulations for using e bikes on the Hiawatha Trail. They had been banned for a while from renting bikes up there. In addition, we heard from several other riders that day about bad experiences they had had or had heard others had with these guys. Apparently, they have a really bad reputation in the area. If you are going to rent bikes when in Wallace, buyer beware with these guys, they are not trustworthy and unscrupulous. read more

Amazing customer service! We decided to rent e-bikes to ride the Hiawatha trail last minute. Unfortunately, we didn't book early enough for the bike transportation and we didn't have any other option since our car doesn't have a hitch. Luckily, Barbara was kind enough to transport us and the bikes to the trailhead herself! The Hiawatha trail was amazing and we decided to ride the 20 miles back to Wallace instead of riding back up the same trail. The e-bikes did amazing through the switch backs and the view through moon pass was beautiful. It was definitely worth the 35 mile trip. Pickup and drop off of the bikes was very seamless. Definitely recommend renting bikes from Spokehouse! read more

Bikes are super fun, we rented for two days, rode the Hiawatha trail down and back up! The bikes had plenty of battery power to get us back up the hill. The second day we rode to the Cataldo mission, riding on lower power mode I think the bikes could make it all the way from Wallace and back. We started the ride at Pine Hurst, and then rode to the mission and back to Wallace. We saw two moose and a bear on the ride. Stu was super helpful shuttling the bikes, and really made our trip something we won't soon forget! read more

Stu and Barbara were professional/gracious and very accommodating for our rental for a large party. They drove us to the Cataldo mission and we rode back to Wallace taking our time and enjoying the scenery. Wish we had another day to ride farther. I highly recommend using Stu and their shop.
