I couldn't possibly leave the last review standing, after this incredible season, not just because of the snow. After having an opportunity to encounter Brian and Matt, the head honchos, I was able to grasp the future vision for the resort, and I am thrilled! Not only are they upholding historic tradition of the mountain, but plans for upgrading and expanding just confirm the attitude of slow and methodical progress. And all the ugly things I stated last season, have virtually disappeared. Way to go boys! To track from November 8th all the way to last weekend was epic! Unlike first chair Cheryl, who is unrivaled, it was the longest season I have experienced at one resort. And just enough powder and chill to keep us going all that time! Rustic facility with the basics. What it does have is nice staff personnel - ticket counter, food service and rental Dept. We were challenged with limited runs open and thin cover situations due to poor snow conditions. The value was good as they accommodated the poor conditions with price discounts on tickets. Runs would be good if conditions been better but maybe another time. It's not a mega resort or have the newest lift systems - but it does the trick. Neat part is skiing in both MT and ID. read more

I had ridden trail of the Hiawatha several times this year, and during our last visit we took the shuttle back up for the first time only to have our bikes mistreated and damaged. While they were removing my fat bike from the 'transport' a bus not equipped with hangers big enough to accommodate my wheels/tires it got stuck on another fat bike. I watched the employee get frustrated with the bikes and yank on mine, lifting both up and shaking them until one came loose. This particular visit I had several work colleagues with me and didn't want to make a scene, so I sent an email with pictures of the damage after assessing it when we got home. After contacting the resort and managers several times I received no responses, it seems as though they'll take your money but not respond to calls/emails. I've waited several months for their response before writing this, but it looks as though their service reflects the treatment of people's personal bikes there. I would not recommend anyone use their services, they've likely damaged many other bikes in the same manner and taken accountability for none. The staff is unresponsive, negligent, and apparently too short tempered to do their job correctly. read more

Had a Blast!! I am a newcomer to skiing and my 2nd cousin is really good at skiing! My second cousin teaches classes at Schweitzer and was going to help me learn alongside my sisters boyfriend who is also a newcomer. He taught me some basic skills then took us on the bunny hill. We then took a couple runs on the bunny hill and before I knew it I was going down Tamarack the green trail they have there! We had lots of fun and the lodge service people were very nice. We also made lots of memories! Overall I would definitely recommend lookout pass for anyone looking for a fun time! read more

I am so happy that we stopped at Lookout Pass to buy our tickets for the Route to Hiawatha. The ticket agent gave us such good tips. Also, it's the last stop for indoor plumbed bathrooms. Definitely worth it! We had originally planned to drive to Pearson trailhead and bike up the route. The agent stated that would add 50min drive time each way. Instead she recommended parking at the East Portal trailhead and bike to the last trestle then turn around and bike back up the most scenic section. She said that you can purchase the shuttle tickets with credit or cash on the bus if we changed our minds. Great advice! Skip the forest service roads and buy your tickets from Lookout Pass Ski Resort at Exit 0. It will actually save you time. read more

Last year, after many years of buying season ski passes at Lookout, I was finally old enough to receive a free season pass. At the end of last season I got my free Lookout pass which I used this season. Last week when I went to get next year's free pass, they wanted to charge me a $35 "processing fee". Are you kidding? $35 (plus tax) for my "free" ski pass? Are they doing that poorly financially to need to nickel-and-dime older skiers? Other ski areas don't charge anything for their free passes and my friends and I have a choice of 5 local ski areas. It's not the money so much as the extremely poor public relations for a few bucks. read more

Me and my Little Brother from Big Brothers Big Sisters traveled from Spokane to Lookout on Tuesday for our one Ski Trip we get to take each year. I purchased our lift tickets for $130 on line prior to leaving. I took the day off from work and we both were very excited all the way there. When we arrived at the lift ticket booth on the mountain and I was informed that I had purchased lift tickets inadvertently for the following day. It was raining and the mountain was slow. I explained that I had to work the next day and could not come back. I asked if they would honor our lift tickets anyway. They would not. I spoke with three different employees about it and the result was the same with each. There would be no skiing for us that day. We were both a little heart broken. Seems like something more could have been done to help. Makes me miss the days of The Golden Rule. read more

What a bummer of customer service. The mountain only accepts reservations so we made reservations and it booked us for the wrong day. We saw it immediately and called right away, however we couldn't get through to anyone as the line was continuously busy. After three days of trying to call, email and rebooking our tickets online for the correct day, they told us they wouldn't refund us for the overpayment and the only way was to use the ticket in March or April. Given we live in Washington and are on a roadtrip, this obviously didn't work. I am beyond frustrated and feel like they stole $90 from us. This could have been such a simple fix. LOOKOUT DESCRIMINATES AGAINST GRAD STUDENTS This should be no star but that is not an option! I pre-purchased a student season pass for 2019-2020. At the time I purchased the pass the website stated that the requirement for the discount is to be a full-time student. I am a graduate student at WSU taking 10 credit hrs (9-10 credits is the standard full time for grad school easy to google this info). When I had some questions regarding the pass I had already purchased I was informed that I am not by the standards at lookout (strictly 12 credits which was not at the time specified on the website) a full-time student. When I presented documentation of the definition of full time was treated as though I was trying to pull some scam. I then contacted the CEO Phil Edholm his response was "Our Ticket Manager, Lisa, informed you prior to your arrival that our full-time college student criteria was 12 credits or more. My understanding is that your class schedule did not meet that threshold. We have been scammed many, many times in the past and made a determination a number of years ago that our College Season Pass Special needed a policy outline, including an age limitation, to prevent abuse." I've never experienced being in the snow before. I'm not from the USA. I've always lived next to the ocean and barely had snow. Well, I would say I've never had snow. Having said this, skiing was a definitely new experience to me. I was scared, intimidated, but I thought I would give it a shot. I was excited when my friends asked me to join them. Skiing is hard when you try it at a later stage in life. That's my experience. It needs lot of mental and physical practices. I noticed that when I experienced many hard falls on the ground. I felt how difficult it is and I was so exhausted. I was really tiered, and I should have taken an easier trail(I'm not sure if that's the right word). I was battery low. And I thought it's impossible to make. That's when the beauty of the day began. In the midst of my wondering and intimidation, one of the guard appeared on the scene and asked me if I needed help. His name is Doug. I said to Doug that I can't make it, and Doug replied that he understands. He actually congratulated me for being able to make it up to where he found me, especially if that's my first time. He also proposed to help me through and give me some tips after going back to the lodge and take a rest. While we were talking another gentleman with a slide boar came. They took me to one spot and from that spot they had a snowmobile to drive me to the lodge. I can't thank enough these men for there kindness and willingness to help. It's one of the most noble acts in humanity when you see a desperate person and you take the initiative to help! Thank you, so much to everyone. I'm grateful and thankful! You made my day yesterday! I had not skied in 20 years, but my wife convinced me to try it again. We went there because it was a cheap ticket ($28 senior, about what I paid at Schweitzer in the 70's) and relatively easy to get to. We went on a Monday and pretty much had the runs to ourselves. Everyone there was extremely friendly. I had to rent equipment and the rental shop had me in and out in about 10 minutes. Its a nice easy drive from Spokane with no mountain roads to contend with. The chili at the cafe is great, the cheese sandwich not so much. There is not a lot of terrain though plenty for my skiing level after a 20 year layoff. I am told that when there is fresh show, the powder is the best around. It was pretty much packed or crud when we were there and at any rate I would not have ventured into the powder until I get a bunch more time under my skis. read more

It makes me sad to give a 1 star rating to a hill that I have greatly enjoyed many times in the past.... My wife and I were visiting a couple of weekends ago on our way through to ski at Bridger for a few days. We stopped at Lookout because I've always loved the welcoming homey feel of the hill and she's never been there. We arrived early enough to have a leisurely breakfast before the lifts opened...until the order of biscuits/gravy and pancakes/bacon proved to be too complex for the kitchen staff....they forgot my order....and then expected that my wife's biscuits and gravy would sit getting cold while they got around to making mine....then they forgot my bacon...which is a standard part of the meal....correcting the error by tossing some barely cooked inedible bacon onto a plate. Complicated stuff, apparently...45 minutes later.... We finally got onto the hill and had an hour of great turns through a few inches of freshie. Delightful. After running around the Montana side, we decided to check out the Idaho side. After another very enjoyable cruiser run, we discovered that the front side chairlift was down. OK - we were told that the chair would be back up in about 20 minutes so we went for a hot chocolate.| An hour or so later - with the chair still obviously out of commission and with absolutely no announcements having been made in the lodge - I went down to the ticket window to see if anyone could tell us what was going on. There was a crowd formed there with a Lookout employee telling everyone that 2 lifts were running, he kept stressing that no refunds would be given, and that there was an easy short downhill trail that ran from the first lift tower of the broken chair down to chair 3. Note that he kept stressing that it was easy, short, and all downhill - and that no refunds would be given. Great - I went back upstairs, let my wife know and we headed out for this short easy downhill trail. What we found was a "trail," that was well over a mile, went through a lengthy section of the parking lot, and was mostly a long flat slog over to chair 3. In short, the fellow at the ticket booth LIED to us. I felt really bad for the fellow who had two little kids in nearly full meltdown halfway through the slog who had also believed the employee at the ticket window.... Frankly, I don't care about a refund. I thoroughly enjoyed the hour or so that we had on the hill before the lift broke. I do care about being LIED to and having to slog more than a mile through a parking lot and then along a flat cat track to the chair 3. Had your employee been honest with us, and had there been any attempt at communicating with the people waiting patiently in the lodge, we would have chalked it up to the vagaries of life, enjoyed our hot chocolate, hopped in our car and kept going on our trip. I am sorely disappointed in a hill that I have so thoroughly enjoyed in the past. Next time through the pan handle, I think we'll try Silver instead. read more

Came here recently for my first ever time snowboarding and had an awesome time! I got some rentals at an affordable price and was on my way. I was doing my thing on the bunny hill but it was Free Ski Day and it was instantly filled with young ones so I made my way to the "Huckleberry" Green Run. I made it down in one piece and was very content. I called it a day and watched football in the lodge. Couldn't have been happier that day! read more

On our trip to Seattle we decided to ski here based on the price and it was worth every dollar. The nearby small towns run some deals with the mountain so you can ski and stay for cheap. We got about 6 inches of fresh powder by luck. This small mountain has a loads of intermediate to beginner runs so it is great for many ranges of skier. The staff were all super friendly and having a great time. I liked that there weren't any typical pretentious skier types here. It was a laid back homey type of place. Ski Here! read more

Very disappointed!!!! Used to ski lookout a lot and it was my favorite little mountain. Went on Wednesday January 10. This season I purchased an advantage card, mistakenly reading it as the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th day cost only $10. In fact they are $10 off the full price of a lift ticket (not that great of a deal). Ok no big deal my mistake but when I purchased the card the week before I had asked the girl working the ticket counter to confirm that each additional day was only $10 dollars which she said was true. This is not the reason for me being upset, I accept that I should've paid more attention to what the actual deal was. I am upset because the woman working the ticket counter yesterday was extremely rude and off putting when she told me that the price was in fact $33 not $10. And it was not that she was just rude to me. The couple who had been in front of me, left the counter looking very frustrated and happened to have parked next to us. They explained to me the circumstances of their purchasing experience and how rudely they had been treated as well by the same woman. When my girlfriend returned from buying her ticket she was upset too. Just all around terrible customer service. As the smallest and farthest mountain in the area, the simple truth is you can't afford to have rude employees in the ticket window sending your customers away with a bad taste in their mouth. Mountain terrain is great with amazing snow, I wish the customer service was just as good. I've had a bad experience from the start with the staff. I understand that with COVID there are restrictions with the ability to hang in the lodge, however the signs say that as long as you purchase something, you are allowed to stay inside and hang out. So I purchased something and was planning to purchase a couple more beers and then head out, and I was being harped on for being there too long, all while I was purchasing food and drinks from them and giving them service. It just took my by surprise, it made me want to ask for my money back. The staff lady that kicked me out was also very rude about it. I had to hang in my car for the rest of the day while my friends were finishing up their day (I hurt my ankle so I was not able to ski the rest of the day with them). I simply wish that they were more clear on information about the lodge and that the staff was not so rude to customers giving them service. Other than the rude staff, the mountain itself is a great place to ski, just be ready to be harped on if you mess up. read more

I am a part-time employee and have been for years. Really like the place. Can't say I've ever met any unfriendly folks there. Even when I was not on the payroll was treated just like "folks". Hope as the ski area expands southeastward from I90 and lifts and facilities are added that the atmosphere remains old fashioned local ski area. That is what it has been since the first runs were cobbled together decades ago by folks who wanted, well, fun! read more

Terrible customer service all around. The women at the ticket counter treat costumers like an inconvenience. They are openly rude, dismissive and argumentative. The rental shop and ski lesson counter service people are easily upset over inconveniences presented by customers. The lift operators are actually nice guys, but are focused on moving people, rather than the safety of getting people on and off. The mountain is relatively nice with good snow, and a variety of runs. The overall service orientation of the staff spoils it. read more

We had a great time at Lookout Pass. Every employee was kind and helpful. We showed up with our little guy in a cast and they helped us get a refund with no questions. Rental pickup and drop off is a well oiled machine. The lift lines were short even on New Years Day. Our family of 5 will be back! Kids earned the 1-2-3 season pass. Bike rentals are way over priced and portly maintained. We had issues with our bike rental that left us walking the trail for two hours. No trail Marshal the entire time we were on the trail. We found that we were not the only people to be having issues with rental bikes that day. Conversation with certain staff let us know that the bikes have been a big issues lately. Apparently they have new people maintaining them this year and are not doing a great job. The crew that receives the bikes at the lodge could care less that they rented you a garbage bike. read more

Convenient, fun little mountain. Often opens earlier than some of the other local mountains due to lots of early snow... I like going to Lookout at least a couple times a season, it has a "miniature" mountain feel to it with a little front and a little backside. Steep enough runs not to be completely bored. Quaint lodge. Don't count out going to Lookout Pass if you are on the I-90 corridor and Silver's snow sucks. It is cheaper and still a good day of skiing! read more

You can go wrong here with little to no crowds and nothing overly grand to kill yourself on. Best ski mountain ive been to in a long long time and I will continue to keep going until they disappoint or change in a way for the worse. I had an issue with the older blonde woman who sold me my lift ticket. I am a college student and wanted to purchase a discounted ticket and had forgotten to bring my student Id. I instead had my online student information to prove that I am indeed a current student and was told very rudely that my student information on my phone would not work and that I had to pay full price. The other employee at the next window did not require other students to show Id. I don't mind paying full price, but I thought it was inconsistent and unfair to charge different prices for lift tickets. read more

This is from the perspective of a beginner, so not a comparison to other resorts in terms of the trails, snow conditions, etc.. Our family learned to ski here over three days with their $99 package, which gives you three days of lessons, lift passes, and equipment. When you finish you get a lift pass for the rest of that season, no restrictions. If there's a better deal on earth, I'd be surprised. The best part is that everyone is extremely friendly, helpful, and encouraging, from the rental people to the instructors to the guy at the bunny hill lift with ice in his mustache. The one thing to know is that the lodge gets jam packed at lunch, such that you can't move around with the food you bought much less sit and eat it. Eat early, late, or bring a sandwich. read more

Awful. If I could give negative stars, I would. The occasional powder up here is not worth the risk of injury or possibly death. The chair actually broke off the cable a few weeks ago, and it had apparently happened before. We were told we couldn't get our money back(we had only been up there an hour before it broke down) but we could come back and go again for free. We didn't really want to come back after seeing the chair had broken off, but we decided to just go ahead and do it and make it worth our money. When we got there, they told us we needed our past tickets to get the new ones. (Even though we had called them a week prior and they said we didn't need anything) My sister, luckily, still had hers on her jacket, but I didn't have mine anymore. I asked them if they could just find my receipt from the card that I payed with, since they didn't even give me a receipt when I had gone up there the first time, but they said I had to have the initial ticket. There was a list of names that they had taken the day the chair had broken down. I remember a lady named Brittany taking our names and putting them on the list. I asked if they had the list, and they said they did, but they still needed the ticket. So by now I was pretty mad, so they asked my name, they looked on the list apparently and said I wasn't on it. I told them I knew for a fact I was, I remember writing down my name, as well as my information. The lady talking to me then continued to deny, as well as saying that 'I wasn't listening to her,' even though I was, since I knew I was on the list. Then she goes, 'Oh there you are, I was looking for Cadie with a K.' Like are you kidding me? You treat me like crap and then realize it? And she doesn't even apologize for treating me like that even though she was in the wrong. So she tells the other lady to go ahead and give us the tickets and the other lady goes, 'Are you sure?' WTF? Sure about what?? That I was *really* on the list? That I might still be lying? Trust me honey, I wouldn't go this far lying, just to get into a crappy ski place. Finally we get our tickets and they don't even apologize. The rest of the staff are also pretty rude. They think you're an idiot and cant get on a ski lift. It's obvious they don't want to be there. There's a few on the mountain that are ok. No wonder this is the cheapest ski resort. It's the only way to get people to go there even though their chairs break of the cable constantly. If this review even stops just one person from going, it'll be worth it. Just don't go there. Spend a couple more dollars and go somewhere safe and that treats you right, like Silver Mountain that's only like 15 min away. Don't take your chances with the rickety chairlifts that are gonna break any second. And don't spend your money to be treated like garbage. Seriously. read more
