The only reason i gave them one star is I couldn't write a review with out it. My husband is a 90 year old disabled Korean veteran and has taken their paper for over 30 years. He doesn't always agree with what they write but does like reading his paper. If there were another paper he would be reading it. This is one of the little pleasures he still has in life. He is losing his eye sight so it would be nice if they would delivery it when they should. We only get the paper four days a week and this week they missed three of the four days. When you call about the paper they end up delivering it after the fact a few days later and still want to charge you for a three or four day old paper. Cowels family got rich off this paper but no longer care if you get your paper or not. I think the Cowels family should read some of the reviews about their paper and see just how bad their paper is. I've had a terrible experience with this paper. It is an important part of my routine to read the paper, and this was disrupted as the carrier frequently missed delivery days, and it took months of complaints to finally receive the paper that I had paid for that entire time. The "district manager" will never return your call. I finally cancelled my subscription when the carrier broke the front window of my home and just drove off even though "she said her hand slipped and she thought she might've broken something." Again, customer service was sluggish and poor, but the window ultimately got fixed with insistence from my husband. Boo to you, spokesman review, service matters and print is dead. Probably should make some efforts before you lose more customers. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I subscribed 6 weeks ago because it is important that we support our local business. My paper is not being delivered. I call customer service and get recordings. Finally got to a live person but still no paper. Days later finally got a call back from another person. He said he would turn it over to a manager.... No papers again this week. Called Costumer again because no Sunday paper again today. Got a recording that Customer Service is closed on weekends. read more

I have been subscribing for many years. In the last 5-6 years, the paper has developed into the worst left-wing biased liberal rag ever! I cut my delivery to Wed and Sun because the cost went way too high and the aforementioned bias issue. I am now going to quit altogether. Just to get the Wed and Sun ads are not worth it. Too bad journalism has taken such a turn. I want to read the news, not hyper-partisan BS. As long as I'm on this rant I'll add that the 3 media mob tv stations are just as bad or worse. The only reason why I'm leaving two stars instead of one is because of Michelle & Rachel (CDC District Managers), she is honest, straightforward, helpful, and straight to the point. Honestly, she deserves a raise and a promotion. That being said, I can't say the same thing for the rest of the staff with the exclusion of Perry and Rachel (CDC Office). As for Anne (District Manager)and Kolby (CDC Office). Anne should never have been given the district manager position, she treats you like a child, is extremely rude, unprofessional, and treats all the drivers in her district with the upmost disrespect. She tried to force me to sign a contract. That did not have anything that we discussed about in it and refused to meet with me during normal business hours to discuss the contract. She is very unorganized and any opportunity to make you look foolish in front of everyone. All the drivers that are under her district and some of the staff extremely dislike her and would not like to work with her if possible. As for Kolby, he's very friendly at first but once you're hired that mood changes real quick. He talks down to you and treats you as if you are beneath him and he's better than you. I will never do business with this newspaper ever again, especially since I have not received my paycheck for the time I've worked there as a driver. read more

This is like a school newspaper with a budget. I just picked up a Sunday issue and thought Ummm.... where is the news?!" It was all recycled stories from the AP and a stack of ads from big box stores. The worst: part of section B was missing. WTF?! That was the arts section - but the thing about the paper: there is NO arts section to talk about - it is just some movie reviews. I emailed the editor asking for information on the arts in Spokane before I took a trip here and he didn't even email me back. Maybe he is too busy editing the one story written by a person at the Spokesman?! Or maybe he is too busy reading the AP to see what story should go in next week. I checked out their site and there is no news there either. Considering people are shifting to the web, you would assume the digital issues would have some thought put in to it. This is the WORST newspaper EVER! Completely incompetent and disrespectful of rural communities that DO NOT REQUEST THEIR ADVERTISING garbage! They have littered our rural roads with plastic-covered "Pinch" advertising inserts for years. I have called them 4 times to request that they STOP THROWING THIS GARBAGE IN MY DRIVEWAY! It is unsolicited, and I have never requested their advertising trash, yet they say on the garbage that I have to call to "unsubscribe". I HAVE NEVER SUBSCRIBED TO THEIR GARBAGE! I want them to STOP LITTERING IN MY DRIVEWAY. Apparently, there is no way to make it stop, because after 3 conversations with them, they are still cluttering my property with their garbage! Cancelled my sub today, they had offered a reduced rate for a half week delivery for one year. Now they have changed my sub date to today and increased the price. I asked how they could do this and they told me the offer was unsustainable financially to them. Remember they came to me with the discount. So I only got 6 months, the rep told to blame the tariffs on Canada are to blame as that's where they buy their print products. It was always at least 1 day old news anyway, and had a progressive lean - I won't miss it read more

Not a great source of news. Very little local stuff (yet for some reason they do a lot of Idaho news?). Mondays & Tuesdays are a waste. It's almost like they have no weekend staff to prep for the week. Saturday is worthless. Sunday, Wed., Thurs. and Friday sort of okay. But a few years ago they dropped a lot of columns, shrunk their font, shrunk the width of the paper to save money, then raised their prices. Their web-site is one of the most poorly designed I've ever come across. It also has some terrible technical issues that nobody on staff seems to care about. CNN, Seattle-Times, even MSN. Decent newspaper but i'll admit for the size of the city and coverage area served by them it does lack news,esp. local news but most major things are covered and it's the best for the area.I know they have had layoffs and budget cuts so I can understand that but it seems like even so they could still step it up a little.I'll keep reading because I still think a good old fashioned hard copy newspaper is the best way to get the day's news.But for more investigative and hot button issue reporting pick up a Inlander for free almost anywhere in town read more

We signed up for the Pinch delivery two weeks ago, and are yet to received a single paper. We got one old paper from Easter week, delivered a week and a half late, and nothing since.
