I wasn't able to grab a photo during my busy Big Monday visit, so you'll have to trust me, it's pretty cool. They've also expanded the Team store, added concessions and built a few premium food and beverage areas. The actual is still the same - Cozy, a bit intimidating and full of history. It's a great place to watch a basketball game.

At the game I went to, decibel levels were around 119-120, so that seems to track. The feeing, energy, camaraderie, and passion you feel when you enter here cannot be compared to anywhere else. It is truly something remarkable to experience. The Fieldhouse has some structural flaws- mostly because the field house holds up to 16,000 people and needs some updates to allow for all the sold out games. Perhaps more than one stairwell would be a good place to start?! Concessions abound here at the Fieldhouse as do the KU merchandise stores- Rally House- can be found in multiple levels here. The seats of the stadium are not premium as the majority are bench seats with no backs. While you can rent a cushioned seat, you end up standing most of the game anyway, so really not worth the additional cost. There really aren't obstructed views here from any seat-unless a tall person has a seat in front of you. There are very limited hand rails to use in the Fieldhouse to help accommodate these views. The Fieldhouse has a museum as well which commemorates the Jayhawk greats in all realms of sports. This is a great way to spend some time before the game starts. Doors usually open an hour before the game. It's a really fun and energetic place to experience. Definitely get a ticket (if you can) to a game. Take heed and beware the Phog!

I think the best seats are about half way up from the court, but there really isn't a bad seat in the house. I think you'll be able to follow the action wherever you are. I like how the students get prime seating. Their section starts just off of half court and extends behind the South goal. They are young, full of fun, and are a huge part of the game day experience. Concessions are basic, but easy to find and access. Entering and exiting can take some time if it's a big crowd, but isn't overly difficult. If it's a popular event you might give yourself a little extra time.

I was also able to meet K-State's new soccer coach who is starting the program that will debut in Fall 2016. Last night I attended my first men's game, K-State's upset over KU. There really is not a bad seat in the house. The arena is relatively small, seating just over 12,500. That means there is only one true seating level though and not really any nosebleed seats or sections. I had excellent seats on the 12th row behind the basket, with seat backs. The crowd was ferocious, there is a lot of entertainment at the game between time-outs and at halftime, and the powercat pride was exciting. Parking is not terrible - $5 for women's games and $10 for men's games. We parked by the exit to the lot and got out pretty fast. Go cats!

This is a really nice college baseball stadium…read more It's an artificial turf field, no dirt and no grass, which includes the infield and the pitcher's mound. About half the stadium, mostly behind home plate and between first and third base are club seats. The rest, mostly down the lines and as you go a little higher are bleacher seats. The sight lines are smooth and gentle. There isn't much to miss here so you should enjoy the view even with protective netting, which extends down past the dugouts. I'm a bit of a baseball geek and one of my favorite things is sitting up close and listening to the ball player chatter on the field. The seats here are close, so you'll hear some random dugout chatter and on-field communication. During my visit the stadium was undergoing a small renovation. I think it'll be a good thing when it's finished however right now it's a bit of a nuisance. The venue has been reduced to one set of bathrooms and one concession stand which has caused long lines and waits. I would recommend grabbing a snack or two as well as completing any business needs before driving out to the game.

I have been to a few games here, and there is also a very sizable crowd no matter how windy or chilly it is. The park has some bleachers extending to the outfield, and on the left side of the stadium, there is a berm for picnicking and playing around. Behind the plate are full chairs, but the bleachers all had the nice seatbacks that normally cost extra at football games, included in the ticket price! General admission was only $8. People with silver wristbands are called benchwarmers and can move to "real seats" at the top of the third inning. Beer is sold here, including Tallgrass cans and Bud bottles. You can bring a clear bag with sealed water bottles for each person who enters. I definitely recommend a game here for the stadium, atmosphere, and friendly fans!

No, a stadium is about the traditions, the men & women who have passed through it throughout the years, and the fan experience. There may be no better view in college football than the one that peers down into the horseshoe-shaped confines of Memorial Stadium. in the fall, the colors sloping down from the Campanile are a picturesque autumn postcard, and the views to the north can be so clear that you can see for miles. This old haunt has been around for more than 100 years, starting as McCook Field to its newly-renovated state as the David Booth Memorial Stadium. These days, the stadium has been modernized and given that luxury box opportunity that so many venues have come to demand. Aluminum benches have been replaced with seating; video boards have gotten upgraded with current technology. WiFi has been deployed throughout the facility (KU Guest), which VASTLY enhances the fan experience. Ask anyone what their frustration can be like when around a large crowd with spotty mobile coverage: I bet they'll use profanity. So I'm biased. I bleed crimson & blue and I love a great fall football experience. I loved walking down the hill into the stadium for graduation and can't wait for my progeny to do the same. The new stadium expects big things to happen on the turf. KU has built themselves a snazzy new dance floor, now they just need the boogie down to happen. Rock Chalk!

Bigger things are coming down the pike, but I wanted to take the chance to leave a review for the old girl before it's all but a memory. This stadium didn't get all the love it deserved, IMO. It was a dedicated World War I Memorial for all the students who lost their lives. I think that gets forgotten in the modern day arms race of bigger/better with college athletics, and that's what the original purpose was here. As time went on, people lambasted it for having a track around it, appearing more amateur than the big southern stadiums. But you know what? KU's Track history is pretty freaking great so I think that was also misguided. Oh, and something else that was really cool here was that the band could run right onto the field from the north end, down the stairs and onto the field. Always a fun tradition that can really only be captured with college football. There's also the hill where you can be a part of the gameday action and even watch part of the game, which is such a fun throwback to a simpler time. Fingers crossed the new design allows some of that, but I'm not sure yet. But yes, time went on and there were several limitations here, admittedly. The old metal bleachers, the outdated concourses, et al. I'm not enamored with the new design from what I've seen, but I'll try to welcome it when it's here. It's hard because we all have some core, amazing memories from our time in college, and when I was here we were rolling with Mark Mangino and winning the Orange Bowl. I'll continue to hold onto those memories of the old Memorial Stadium!

One cool feature... the field is entirely field turf. No grass or dirt. I was worried a bit about how the game would play, but everything seemed to go on as normal. The players didn't have any issues fielding and a good amount of them dove and slid like normal. Similar to your home furnishings in college, this ballpark has a quaint layout... there are some reserved club seats with backs, but most of the seating is on bleachers so you might want to bring a seat cushion or a pillow. The concessions serve the basics... nachos, hot dogs, popcorn, soda and water. They're college priced too so that's nice touch. . The ball field is super kid friendly. Not only will you see a decent amount of college kids (admission is free with an ID,) but the reasonable ticket prices will bring a lot of families out. If you've got a young one (or two...) Hoglund is the perfect place to spend a weekend afternoon. I hope you enjoy the game and Rock Chalk.
