Getting another pair of Birkenstocks isn't that easy. It takes time to break them in because the footbed is solid. From experience, I know that getting into a new pair of Skechers doesn't take time. I was pleased to discover that the Ottawa Trainyards had a Skechers Factory Outlet. I dropped by to see if I could get a new pair of sandals that would work for me. This store is spacious and nicely organized. Right off the bat, I saw signs that said that if I buy a pair, I get a second pair for 50% off the regular price. Nice! I am a Skechers fan. I like that it offers women's size 11 footwear. It's also comfortable and stylish. I found a pair of sandals that had thin velcro straps. The thought of having velcro to get them on and off my feet quickly appealed to me. The last time I had velcro closures on footwear was back in grade 7. I had a pair of Puma sneakers and loved how easily I could get them on and off my feet. These sandals have a bit of an incline, which took me a bit to get used to. I'm so used to a flat sandal. I also messed up my feet wearing my broken-down Birkenstocks, so I had even more of a learning curve. These Skechers sandals felt light and comfortable. I walked around the store in them. I liked them a lot. There was a small mirror by my feet to check my sandals out and model them. i also saw a beige pair in my size in the same style. I took advantage of the sale going on by getting them, too. There is a clearance shoe section at the back of the store. I didn't see any shoes that I wanted, but there were a handful of size 11 sneakers, including Bobs. I had a competent man at the checkout. He made sure that all my sandals were size 11. He also made sure that my second pair was 50% off. I paid with a credit card. All went well. I didn't need a bag. I stacked the boxes and carried them to my car. I stored them in my trunk as I continued to shop in this area. When I got to the hotel's underground parking lot, I took the box containing my blue sandals up to my room. They became my sandals of choice for the rest of my vacation. I did a lot of walking. They were comfortable and durable. I am now used to the incline. I don't notice it that much when I'm wearing them. I do when I take them off and lose maybe an inch or so in height. They are also easy to maintain. I got one of the straps dirty. I did a mild soap-and-rinse routine to the strap, and it looked great. It air-dried quickly! I'm so glad that I popped into this store. I had a great experience replacing my old sandals with two pairs. I don't need to think about sandals for a while. Yay! (278)

He listened to Mom, he was extremely patient, brought her various options, and provided her with exactly what she wanted. How impressed with JD was I? Well, any time I need shoes, I know I am going to Sketchers at Train Yards, first and only place I plan to go to going forward. The selection of shoes at the Running Room is incredible but even more incredible is the staff that work there. So knowledgeable, attentive and helpful (expect to spend anywhere between 15 min-45 min just so they make sure you walk (or run ;)) out of there with your best fit shoe. I wish this WAS the standard across the entire service industry. So shout out to Rose at the Merivale location (and apologies to the rest who, over the years, have also provided stellar service). (Oh, another example: deeked into the store quickly the other day but couldn't stay and employee was helping someone else but when he finished, he came over and said, "I noticed you were looking at this one...". Observational skills...Impressive!!!). Prices may be a few dollars higher but the variety of high quality shoes and even higher quality expertise in shoes and high-class service is definitely worth it. Thanks!

They also offer a rewards program that sends you emails only once a week, instead of the spam that comes every day. I don't know how long they've been here, but they weren't in Yelp before we visited, so my guess is it hasn't been here too long. Because of the pandemic, I thought I would have a very difficult time doing an exchange at the store. I was greeted by a very friendly staff upon entry and was so refreshing to deal with Neisha. Neisha was the most pleasant person and say easy going. In most cases, returning or exchange and any other store is not always dealt in a positive manner. Not the case at Journeys. I will be going back for my next purchase, they have a great selection of merchandise but mostly because of my experience. Neisha deserves a raise.

Rain or shine, people are clearly showing up for their Crocs. I went in specifically to purchase the platform style sandals after hearing great reviews, and I was impressed by just how much variety the store carries. There was an abundance of styles, colors, and designs to suit just about anyone, whether you prefer something classic, trendy, or bold. Despite the crowds, the store was well organized, making it easy to browse without feeling completely overwhelmed. The staff were clearly working hard and moving quickly, as there were so many customers in the store at once. I did have to wait a bit for assistance, which was understandable given how busy it was. There were two cash registers open, and even then I ended up waiting about fifteen minutes to check out. That said, the cashier was very friendly and pleasant, which helped make the wait feel less frustrating. Even with all the chaos and constant foot traffic, the store remained clean and well maintained, which really stood out to me. Overall, this location offers a huge selection, hardworking staff, and a clean shopping environment, making it a great stop if you are willing to be a bit patient during peak hours.

It's sad that to get a size that fits me, I have to sacrifice a rainbow of colours for fit. It's the main reason why my Crocs are all black. I wanted a purple pair of Crocs. I have wanted purple ones for years. I came close when I was at Dick's Sporting Goods in Bloomington earlier this year. It had better colours and selection, but I still couldn't get them in my size and in purple. I did a search while in Ottawa and found this Crocs store in ByWard Market. I normally head this way to eat. Well, it was still the case, but I wanted to check this store out after having a late lunch. I parked my car in a lot by Courtyard by Marriott and walked over. I entered the store. It was fairly busy, with staff talking to a man for practically the whole time that I was in this store. You can decorate your Crocs with fun charms known at Jibbitz. There was a sale going on with selective Jibbitz sets. There were food and pompom ones, so I got both of them. I was extremely happy in this store. I saw every Crocs style, from the classic clog style, to slides. I went with classic ones. I got to choose between purple and lavender. I went with the latter and I found a pair in my size. One acronym: OMG! Thinking that I was delusional, I grabbed the pair in my size and headed up a short set of stairs to try them on. There was seating. These Crocs fit. I wasn't dreaming! My feet were so happy in them. I had been walking quite a bit that my feet felt like they were getting a short massage walking around the store. I said yes to this pair. When you are on this upper floor, you have hit the clearance section, which is closest to the window. I saw sparkly platform Crocs, platform sandals, thong sandals, and more at reduced prices. This section was awesome! I went to pay for my items. My wanting to pay for my items made the man finally stop chatting up a storm with two female staffers. The woman closest to him at the counter seemed rather unenthusiastic dealing with me. She asked me if anyone helped me. I immediately said no. The two female staffers were clearly engrossed with whatever this man had to say to them. Why bother asking such a ridiculous question when you both know the answer to it? I paid with a credit card. Done! The woman placed my items in a paper bag with handles. I thanked her and left. I remember shopping moments later at another store. I had a chat with two other folks, a man and a woman, after they saw my Crocs bag. They were interested in getting a pair, so I directed them down the street. I am the quiet hype woman. I shop. You see my bag. You want to shop there, too. I really need to get paid by Crocs... haha! Other than the weird lack of warmth with staffers, I loved shopping here. I love my Crocs. So The Shoe Company is a big shoe store, a little bit like DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse, except maybe with less designer brands. They have a colour coded system where different coloured stickers mean you get different additional percentages off. I usually look for orange stickers which is 50% off and red which is 70% off. They have what I would consider regular mainstream shoe styles. They don't carry anything too "out there" or avant garde. I love shoes, or more accurately, I love boots and sandals, but not those weird boot-sandal hybrids like knee high boots with open toes, what is up with that? Just my personal style opinion, no offense to boot-sandal hybrid lovers, you are probably just too cool for me. Where was I going with this? Oh yes, I love footwear, so I browse around at The Shoe Company a lot, lol. This particular location is in a strip mall, so there's lots of free parking. It's in the same strip mall as Factory Direct, Ardene, Winners, Laura, Value Village and Dollarama. Also Sushi 168 and World Burger, in the event that shopping for shoes makes you hungry.
