We were members for several years and spent thousands of dollars on tennis lessons. We enjoyed the club, which is why this was so disappointing. I feel like their policies and customer service are not meant to be relational. I told them over the phone I wanted to end my membership. They even acknowledged they had notes showing I requested to cancel. They did not make it clear that I would continue to be billed because we had stopped using the gym. Because I didn't also submit it in writing, they continued charging me. I I still had to pay for the 30 day notice period and even a $10 fee after I'd already told them I wanted to cancel. I understand that's what the contract says, but I was disappointed there wasn't more flexibility for a loyal customer who had a misunderstanding. I felt like they were taking a stance as bill collector immediately and I left feeling like the policy mattered more than the relationship. If you join, just make sure you cancel in writing. A phone call isn't enough. read more

They have a great pool and gym. The trainers are very good. We use it all the time and really love going there.

Not only were they unable to make their gift card policies make sense. When you get a gift card you still have to give them your credit card number when you schedule your massage so that if you cancel, they can charge your credit card. I told them that makes no sense because the service has been paid for in full and all they have to do is void the gift card in their system. I then decided to drive to the Sports Academy because their "policies" are illogical. I told them I was heated and wanted to talk to someone who could make their gift card policy make sense. The guy helping me couldn't explain it and said it was too hard to refund the gift card to the person's credit card who purchased it for me. He then went and got another person. The guy asked what the problem was and I explained it to him. I said no one on your staff can make this logical and I'm not going to arbitrarily give you my credit card information when all you have to do is put the gift card number in the system when I make the appointment, then if I don't show, void it -- you've been paid regardless of whether I show up or not. This guy then proceeds to roll his eyes at me and tells me he's been selling gift cards this way for over twenty years. I told him I don't care how long he's been doing it, it's illogical and certainly their systems aren't so outdated that they can't void a gift card in their system. He then tells me that I'm uneducated because I am disagreeing with him. He is rolling his eyes and acting like a two-year-old. . . so I tell him that. He then continues telling me that I'm uneducated (just because I disagree with your policy, has nothing to do with my education). I tell him that we will just argue the charge on our credit card and I walk out the door. I feel him hot on my heels so when we get outside of the door, I turn around and said "Why are you following me" and he says "I wanted to see what this uneducated woman drives". I tell him "I drive a Range Rover, asshole. Any more questions? Please enlighten me as to what your $40K a year making ass drives." To which he tells me that he's one of the partners of the company and makes over $400K a year and he is yelling at me and screaming across the parking lot that I'm not classy - that I'm not educated - yet he's the beta male that has followed me into the parking lot and is verbally assaulting me because I don't agree with his gift card policy. read more

This is a FUN place! Just make sure to get your "bro-tein" before you come, you'll need it. There are lots of great people who are motivated to help you get fit as well as lots of different resources available at your disposal. The only tricky part is that it's pretty expensive $60 to initially sign up and in addition, $20 every two weeks; however, I think it's worth it as long as you utilize your pass to it's full potential. You give them your card number and they take money out on their own, you don't need to spend time or hassle making sure you're caught up with your payments. I really enjoy the classes and I take full advantage of them. Some of my favorites include: Latin Fire Dancing, Pump, Step, Switch, and Zumba. And the teachers are great, especially Jennifer, Lenani, Tori, and Millie--she's probably my favorite, very fun and hardworking. There are a couple to gyms and machines to use, one is on the main floor and the other is on the second floor. I like that they are the nice ones too, they keep them clean and working. Try to go at a time when not there aren't too many people, if you can swing it, right before noon is a good time--from what I've observed. They also have racquetball, that's at an extra cost to use the court, basketball and a swimming pool. There is also a little smoothie bar at the front with "flavors of the week", so be sure to get your fix once you're finished getting swole. TIPS & TRICKS: * If you get a pass, you are given 5 free guest passes. So bring a friend and show them what it is that makes this place so fancy. * Grab a complimentary towel at the front desk before you start your workout. * if you're a student at the university, you can take a class here and get a membership for only $15 a month instead of the usual $40. read more

Another upsetting night dealing with parents leaving their kids at a gym where they have signs posted 16 and older. They had young girls goofing off in the cardio room and messing around in the adult locker rooms. It's getting to the point that it's frustrating to relax in the "spa treatment" that we are paying for, or even being able to use the equipment because 8 to 14 year old kids are playing on the equipment, goofing off, and being in locker rooms they shouldn't be in. They need to get a night shift manager to kick out these kids before I lose it and end up getting in trouble for scolding someone else's kid because they aren't responsible enough. The sign walking in to the women's locker room says children between 4 and under 16 are not permitted. There is a family bathroom/locker room for them and also another women's and men's locker room for those kids. Please staff PLEASE!!!! DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE YOUNG KIDS TAKING PICTURES IN THE LOCKER ROOM AND MESSING AROUND!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Love this gym! Here traveling for a 5 week clinical rotation & this place has it all! they set me up with a 1 month pass, and were super flexible & understanding with my schedule. The gym has practically everything, the staff are all incredibly friendly & accommodating, and they keep the place super clean - bathrooms are constantly being monitored. My husband and I joined this gym, which they call a 'club' so I could continue distance swimming. They don't have enough lanes for all the adult swimmers to use, and I have waited up to an hour to swim. To make matters worse, they give their private swim team 3 hours a day, from 4-7pm to use the pool which is a high usage time for those of us that are adults. Children are allowed to interfere with adults lap swimming and training and in addition, they condone other members bullying members to get their lane and get out of the pool, and/or jump the line for those of us waiting (as is fair and appropriate) and take any lane they want- again disresepecting their peers. The owner of the company Keith Larsen, when asked about this merely stated he was 'sorry for other people's bad behavior' instead of offering a solution- such as a code of conduct. Clearly he doesn't have one, so why would he have others model good sportsmanship? This is no club- the pools are filthy, men don't have to wear caps, and no one has to show mutual respect. read more

Today I got a deep tissue massage from Billy at the sports academy. By far it was the best massage I've ever had. I was very comfortable and the most relaxed I've ever been during a massage. He was very professional, very kind. He had soft hands but he got deep into my muscles. I can't even explain how great that massage was! Please check him out if you're in the market. My first time having a massage there and first time meeting Billy and I will be going back. I love this gym, I've been a member for maybe 6-7 years it's so clean and the staff is friendly and professional. A cool gym environment. Their kids programs looked so promising, but in their summer camp they have refused to take any consideration for allergies (with how easy it is to accommodate these days, this is ridiculous). They are extremely fat phobic, shame young children about their bodies and have zero consideration for emotional wellness. When asked about these issues with the hopes of resolving, they were inflexible, defensive, and downright rude. I would never recommend someone send their child to these programs. read more

I loved this place when I lived in Logan and had a membership for three years. I will admit that I received a very discounted pass through my employer, so I didn't pay near full price, which I understand is a little pricey. However, I always had a great experience and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to exercise. The group fitness classes were awesome, especially anything from Tori, Amy or Mary (although I believe Mary moved and is no longer there...) I would attend at least three classes a week. The abs class in the early evening was awesome, but arrive early to get a mat-it's a popular class. The schedule allowed me to choose a variety of challenging classes before or after work. I'd recommend the 6 AM classes if you are an early bird. The equipment was always clean and there were plenty of TVs to keep me entertained on days that I ran on the treadmill. There were several areas to lift weights and use machines. There's a towel service, private dressing rooms in the women's bathroom and private showers. Lockers are free - you simply enter a code of your choice. I didn't have kids, but others raved about the daycare, which was super affordable. The gym hosts many events, including an aerobics marathon on Thanksgiving morning. I loved this because let's be honest- it's too cold to do a turkey 5k in Logan on Thanksgiving morning! In the summer they play movies in the pool area and they host fun family events. I came to this gym 4-5 times a week while I was a member and absolutely loved it. It is one of the things I miss most about living in Logan! read more

This gym would be a lot better if it was ever cleaned, dirty dirty & dirty, all the equipment is sticky, sweat spots all over and it is the same all the time never clean. You pay quite a bit i believe the equipment needs to be updated, to many pieces of equipment falling apart, not working correctly....the ropes are about to break.....they need to be REPLACED, someone (owners/managers) needs to use the equipment to know what the problems are....mats need to be replaced also. read more

Been coming here for years. It's open seven days a week, which I love. I really enjoy the classes that are offered especially High, PUMP and Ball'ates. They have awesome instructors - especially Tori, Jaynee and Amy. The weight room can get a little meat-heady, but, hey, aren't all weight rooms in any gym anywhere like that? read more

Not very pleased with the swim lessons. I registered three children at $50/each. Three classes in a row they started 5-10 minutes late, and the lessons are only 40 minutes. Talked to the swim director about it. The problem wasn't solved and he blew me off. Well, you just lost my business. My money, $300 yr at your facility will be spent somewhere else. Terrible customer service, poor attitudes from instructors and staff. No thanks, I expect more from a business and for my money. read more

I agree with Mary that they don't want seniors here. Tarnishes their image as a playground for the young and lively. They cater to college students spending daddy's money and young professionals. It doesn't have much of a family-friendly feel. The only area I see families is their pool area, which is looking dilapidated lately. Kiddie pool is being neglected, it's very cloudy yet over chlorinated to the point it stings the eyes. Plus the equipment and basketballs are old and falling apart. Lap pool needs resurfacing. On my last visit an employee was slowly repainting the rusted, crumbling interior. That's just lip stick on a pig. Outside hot tub has a had a broken drain cover all winter long. I cut my toe on it last visit. Beyond the neglected indoor pool area, other areas are faring a little better. Gym and cardio equipment are holding up. Tennis and basketball courts are in decent shape. Locker rooms are pretty clean, but showers are often dirty, so watch your step. Membership is pricey, it has maintenance and structural issues, but decent equiptment and services. But it maintains the snooty, unwelcoming feel it has had since opening day. After being a member of Kubex for 3 years, this place is heaven. Please let me rant on Kubex then I'll move on to the Sports Academy. Kubex is a great concept but it's extremely technology driven and nothing ever worked consistently in the 3 years we went there. SAD!!! The Sports Academy has that real gym feel from the minute you walk in the entrance. They have more options than I will probably ever use but it's comforting to know they are there. They have an extensive weight area and a huge cardio area. And their equipment works! They have an indoor and outdoor pool, an outdoor hot tub, a full service men's and women's locker room each having a whirlpool and sauna, they have every kind of class imaginable taught there, a smoothy bar, message therapists, basketball courts, tennis courts, racquetball courts, indoor track and I'm sure I left some of their amenities out. THIS PLACE IS A REAL GYM! I'm a senior and I don't feel out of place here. I've been treated extremely well by everyone. My wife is a senior and she feels the same way. I've seen all ages working out here from little kids to 90-year-olds. My wife and I couldn't be more happier with our decision to make the move here. This place has been around for quite awhile and I can see why. Please disregard the reviews that knock this place. Nothing is perfect. But if you can find a better gym in Logan, I'll eat your hat:) read more

As previously mentioned, the customer service is terrible. When I first (and mistakenly) registered, they rushed me through the process and seemed annoyed at my questions. I had to ask in order to see the form that they were asking me to sign. Then recently, I made sure to notify them 2 months in advance that I would not be renewing the contract for another year (because, for some unknown reason, it takes two months for changes to appear in their billing cycle). However, it has been longer than a year and I am still being billed. I don't take kindly to having my money stolen and will have to, unfortunately, deal with customer service again to get this issue resolved. #notworthit read more

When I first signed up with them they rushed through the contact information and when I asked about cancelling they brushed through it and made it seem really easy. The facilities are really nice and I like the gym itself. I do think they over stack it. Every time I went in it was always packed. But, when it came time where I needed to cancel, the membership department never answered the phone and when I left voicemails they never responded. After two months of trying to get a hold of them I had to tell the front desk everything that was going on and that she better get me to someone who can take care of it. I was able to talk to someone and he told me that it was really simple. All I had to do was email a response to an email he was going to send me and it would be all over. Low and behold after two weeks I got another charge on my card. I called in multiple times with no answer. After the third try they got on the phone with me to tell me that once you state that you want to cancel you have to continue paying for 2 months. This was not explained to me while we sat down and rushed through the contract. It is so much easier to just go with someone else. They make everything 10 times harder and 10 times more expensive than any other gym here in Utah. Absolutely ridiculous customer service. read more

This place really rips people off. Do not waste your money here. I've had two bad experiences with this place. My kids took swim lesson for about a year and never learned how to swim and they would not move them up and kept repeating the same level over and over again. I took them to Smithfield swim lessons and they learned how to swim in 2 weeks. I also had my daughter in Gymnastic and they overcharged us $100 and never paid us back. read more

Let me first start by stating the actual facility of sports academy is not terrible. Very underwhelming, but all the equipment you need is there. The reason for the poor review has everything to do with management. I signed up with Sports Academy in November and was told I would be free to leave during the summer, as I manage a sales team in California, and would not be required to pay a termination fee. However, today I found out that this was not the case. I decided to cancel my membership a few days ago and was responded to by an employee for Sports Academy claiming they had cancelled my membership and I assumed everything had been handled. This morning I checked my bank statements and found they had still charged for the next month despite my very clear efforts to cancel. Upon calling I was told that not only will I not be refunded for the final bogus charge, but that I will also be charged for a $40 termination fee. You can decide for yourself whether these are the type of people you would like to do business with.... read more

I was a member of the Sports Academy for several years. My main purpose for going to the gym was weight loss, so I only used a fraction of the services. I wasn't that big into tennis, racquetball, or swimming so I mainly stuck to the weight and aerobic rooms, and seldomly attended a class. The price was very steep but I figured it was a nice clean gym and my family had been members for years. So I opted out of signing up with other local gyms who offered lower membership rates. Over all I was relatively satisfied with my experience. It didn't really have a bad experience until I had to cancel my membership. I had been offered a position with a company out of the state, so naturally I needed to terminate my membership with SARC, I figured it wouldn't be that big of a deal since I well passed the 1 year commitment and was now into the "Month-to-month" portion of my contract. When I went to cancel, the worker informed me that I would need to pay for the next two months in order to cancel my service. I questioned that, and asked him how that was "Month-to-month" if I have to pay for two months after I wish to terminate my contract. He informed me that this was there policy and I was required to pay in full. I then asked him if there was anything he could do to help me out with this, I had informed him that I had been a member for several years and that I wasn't quitting the gym to go with a local competitor. I was simply not going to be in the state to benefit from my membership (Even the cable company let us out of our contract because of this) and that maybe they could get me out paying for something I couldn't possibly use, the man simply replied with "No". I responded with "I don't really see how this is fair to do to a loyal member" the man replied with "If you don't pay the full balance we will be forced to submit your account to a collection agency". So I paid for the following two months, in which I resided in Missouri. To this day I have never been treated worse by a company, I informed my family and friends of what happened and they have all since canceled their memberships and gone with the cheaper local alternatives. If I ever do return to Logan I will not be going back to SARC, I sure hope that little extra money was worth it. Buyer beware read more

When I needed to cancel a contract because I was moving across the country, the manager helping me flat out told me he thought I was lying. The facility is good it has up to date equipment and is clean. The instructors are friendly and helpful. It is when you get to the finance part that the trouble begins. I am not a fan of places taking money out of my bank account so I opted to pay them at the desk before they took the money out of my account. How ever they continued to take out of my account and would over draw my account. I went to talk to them about the situation and they would not listen to what I was saying and got comments like "well do you have another account we could use". After having a heated discussion with a sales employee on the floor of the gym (totally unprofessional) I let my membership lapse and now I either pay by visit or pay in full for the whole year. read more
