You would be wrong. Within the boundaries of the village's limits lies a diamond in the rough. I'll explain why and try to be concise. The cuisine is exceptional. There's a good selection of quality drinks. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming -- the sort of place where complete strangers tend to strike-up conversation. The location is perfect, overlooking the Village Green, with a big beer garden behind, and a vast playing field behind that. It's a lovely village, nestled in the gently-undulating farming landscape of rural north-east Herts -- no wonder Braughing was recently awarded the prestigious "Village of the Year" accolade. The pub's menu always includes the best of local produce, from locally-reared beef to local pork sausages, alongside popular country pub dishes. (Braughing village is famous for, among other things, the delicious local sausages, and this is a good place to sample them.) Did I mention the pies? A different pie every day it seems, and you won't find better pies than these. I don't make a statement like that lightly.

Having been there all these years I always know there would be someone I know well there every time I would go down for a drink. I think this is true with a lot of people that go there. Because of this, there's a great sense of community going on there, but new faces are always welcomed here too. I used to gig here in my younger years as mick and jackie had always been into music and promoting the local music scene. Quiz nights are always great fun and the service there is very quick. A really great place to go to and I think it caters for people who don't exactly feel accustom to gastro pub vibe. It's a very honest place with nice friendly people. Love it to bits It's not very expensive either, one of the cheapest in town

It is welcoming, well run and clean. A wide selection of beers, spirits and real ales (with many guest ales) are kept in stock. There is a popular pool table. Live music is a regular feature as is televised sport and on cold days there is a blazing log fire. The regular crowd are a very mixed, down to earth and friendly bunch too. If you've never set foot in the place before and are looking for a proper, old-fashioned, back street pub, this is for you and you'll be back!
