Overcharged me for a simple piece of line work that took 30 minutes. Made me put down a $75 deposit…read moreand told me that that deposit went towards my tattoo and that my tattoo would probably be around $75. When I went into the shop she charge me an additional $107 for the tattoo plus the $75 she took out of my card. I usually tip but decided not to this time since she basically ripped me off. She was okay as a person she kept trying to change my tattoo and my design and kept saying it was because " you don't know how many people are going to have this same tattoo" then told me that I need to keep my bandage on my tattoo for 7 days straight. I've never heard that. She kept trying to ask me what was the name of the last tattoo shop I went to and even though I told her I didn't know she kept asking. ( The reason I didn't know was because I got it out of town when I was on a small vacation with my friend, it wasn't planned) as I was leaving she tried to hand me a bunch of her business cards and asked me to pass them out to my friends she said my friends wrote my name on them and brought them in to get a tattoo that I would get 10% off on my next piece. Which sounds good but I don't think I can recommend this place purely on the fact that she ripped me off. I told my co-worker I went to get my tattoo and he told me he got tattooed by her a couple years ago and she overcharged him as well. The reason I give two stars is because the lines are clean and the store seemed very clean and disinfected.

Let me start off by saying that going to this tattoo shop was one of the worst decisions I have…read moreever made in my life. My boyfriend and I decided to get tattoos during our trip to Roswell, NM. We were drawn to A-OK since it looked really clean and professional. We walked in and were greeted by a very nice receptionist and felt welcomed (at first)... The first red flag should have been that Amy was the only artist that worked in this huge shop (I am now assuming that it is because she is impossible to work with). Since we were on a cross country trip, we didn't have much time to look for any other shop and decided to get our tattoos that day. Amy was not only incredibly rude and condescending, but also gave me a $215 basic quarter sized tattoo. The first thing that she made us do was pay the full amount as the "deposit" which she claimed was her policy. I realize now that the reason she enforces this "policy" is because most people probably back out after having to deal with her. After paying the "deposit" (that locked us in) she handed us each a packet of paperwork to complete. It had an extensive amount of personal questions that most doctors offices don't even require you to answer. My boyfriend wanted a design that he tried to explain to her. After going over multiple sketches that didn't really embody the design he was asking for, he tried showing her photos of what he wanted. She refused to look at the designs and explained that she was a true artist and true artists don't take references from other people's designs. She also mocked his ideas and told him that she would attempt to do what he asked for but promised that it would look bad and she wouldn't be including it in her portfolio. Finally, after going back and forth several times, she ended up using the design that he suggested in the first place and it turned out great. When it was my turn, I was already nervous to work with her on my tattoo. I had seen a behind the ear tattoo of two feathers that I absolutely adored and had been anticipating to get for a long time. I showed her a photo of what I wanted and she didn't even want to look at it. She said that it was because she wanted to give me a unique tattoo that no one else has (which I completely respected and understood). I trusted that she was going to do my tattoo justice since she went on and on about how much of a perfectionist she was but she didn't put any effort into making it "unique" it was basically a dumbed down version on what I had asked for. Once she finished tattooing the back of my ear (which only took about 10 minutes) she started to put away all of her equipment before I even had a chance to look at it and ask her to make any adjustments. Between the both of us, we have over 20 tattoos and have dealt with many artists all over the country. This is by far the worst experience that both of us have ever had with any tattoo artist. Getting a tattoo is not only about the finished product, it is also about the experience that you have with your artist and the process of receiving the tattoo. Unfortunately it's an experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives. If you are considering receiving a tattoo from Amy, I would strongly discourage you. Save yourself the time and the money. I don't want anyone else to experience what we had to go through...
