I've been a repeat customer at Spragg's Meat Shop since I moved to Calgary 5 years ago. In particular, I love their fresh whole chickens. You can tell the quality is so much better compared to whole chickens bought from Sobeys. The chicken sold at Spragg's has amazing texture and isn't super chewy like I've found Sobeys chicken to be. Spragg's Meat Shop is a permanent resident at the Calgary Farmers Market at Currie Barracks. And thank god for that, because since I've found the place, my life has definitely changed for the better! That's because Spragg's Farmer's Sausage has become a fixture on my dinner plate. This lean, free-range Farmer's Sausage is delicately seasoned and delicious, and an easy and healthy protein fix on days when you don't fee like eating the damned chicken again! It's outrageously good! Besides Farmer's Sausage, they offer pretty much every cut of their free-range pork for an appropriate price - you get what you pay for. And as it turns out, if the flavour of their Farmer's Sausage is any indication, it seems a happy pig is a tasty pig! And that's worth a whole lot! read more

I frequent Spraggs for their Bowden farm chicken. It is far superior to a grocery store product yet affordable. They also carry many other popular meat items. Their products are great quality and their customer service is exceptional. They are well worth a visit! read more

I went to the farmers market where Spragg's is located. Order a raw pig leg. They told me it would come in either Friday or Saturday and I asked which day should I show up on to pick up the leg. The kind older man took down my name and number (I watched him write it in the book) and said HE would call ME when it came in. Well no one called me at all. I decided to go talk to them once again when I happened to be back at the farmers market a couple weeks later. Only for the woman and a different younger man to tell me they RETURNED IT as I didn't come pick it up. They were very rude when I tried to tell them that someone was supposed to call me. The lady looked at me and said "We dont call people". I dont understand why they wouldn't look for my number in the book and call me to make money on the leg instead of returning the meat?!?!? Then proceeded to tell me my name and number were not even written down. I know it was as I watched the man previously write it down when I was there last. They looked at me like they couldn't have cared less that I was upset about this. Never got an apology.I walked away very displeased with the service. read more

I bought over 1lb of lean ground beef from Spraggs at the Kinglsland farmers market. This was the first time i had ever bought ground beef from here...I wont name where I always buy my beef so you dont think I work for them but they are a reputable grass fed , hormone and antibiotic free sustainable farming butcher. The farmers they sell products for are listed on their site with links and all the info right there for you. After buying meat from spraggs, cooking it (bbq burgers) and eating it my husband and I both within an hour couldnt keep our eyes open, passed out for a 2hr nap in the middle of a sunny sunday, and when we woke up had sharp stomach pains, gas and felt incredibly iritable...This is how you know the meat you were lead to believe is organic IS NOT. It hits you like a ton of bricks when your body isnt used to it...Today I am so bothered by this that I googled Spraggs to find the farm this beef came from and it says SaddleRidge in Rosemary, AB....Cant find anything on it other than a for sale link. Never buying my meat from anyone other than where I always have and felt safe and healthy doing do...Lesson learned. read more
