Last year we ordered a side of beef from Red Deer Lake Meats. A friend of ours knew them personally and suggested we make our next order from them. We are a typical Alberta beef family... yep, we love our red meat. So based on his suggestion, we purchased our side of beef from them. We asked them to age the beef for at least 21 days. 3 weeks later, we filled our freezer! We sampled some steaks and found them to be tough and not very tasty. We thought we were just being overly critical, so let it go. About 2 months went by and we visited our friends who referred us. He cooked up steaks from his order... they were great! My wife's first comment was, "This isn't what we got". His order included much more than what we received as well, like sausages and ribs. Hmmmm.... it came from the same cow, so how could that be? All we can figure is that our order was swapped out and we received meat that wasn't aged, plus we did not receive what was promised. I'm writing this now, as we just cleaned out our freezer and threw away the rest of the meat order. I guess all I can say is buyer beware. For a great steak at a great price, go to Costco. Buy a whole tenderloin. You won't be disappointed. read more
