Buffalo, wild boar, oxtail, red snapper, steaks thicker than a Bible, prime ribs like the Flinstones, you will never lack for dinner choices at Bon Ton market! The nattily blue & white outfitted staff are incredibly courteous and helpful. There is a large case of prepared salads (the potato salad is to die for with tangy dill and bits of bacon) and a large display of cakes with many being gluten free or vegan. The carrot cake has cream cheese icing and a delicious home spiced appeal. There are ample selections of prepared foods, beautiful raw meats, spices, condiments, cheeses, sauces and random fun things to peruse. The prices are higher than the grocery store, but I did feel what I received was quality. I would like to return for steaks on a special occasion. I look forward to the produce market in summer and I will definitely be returning soon for more potato salad and cake! read more

The chicken pot pie was gross, crust too thick, and only 3 little pieces of chicken in it. It was 6 dollars and fifty cents for nothing good. The cabbage roll was big enough but the hamburger was raw inside, so pink, I was afraid to eat it. I ordered a veg samosa and got beef instead. I have been coming to this market for a decade and I love it. I was there this weekend and I witnessed a horrible cruel display on one of the nice employees. I think it was the owner that was yelling and reprimanded an employee in front of all the customers and staff! I have actually dealt with her and she's always been amazing. This was atrocious to see and hes lucky an Alberta Works was not present to see this. If he treats his staff like this he should be ashamed of himself and I will not support his business anymore and advise everyone else of this. read more

The writer has been buying their steak and kidney pies since the late 1960s when they were located downtown at the corner of 7th Avenue and Centre Street in downtown Calgary across from the Prince of Wales hotel. Customers getting their meat pies for lunch started lining up about 11:45 and in no time the line stretched down the block. Their meat pies now are just as good as they were back then. In a nut shell: Quality 100% and then some!!! Got 3 T-Bone steaks sliced fresh to 1/2 inch each and my gawwwwwwwd they were perfect tender juicy perfection!!! Service: sweet n friendly! Stellar, Unparalleled Service! Last year, at this same time, I was pondering options of who could cater our church Christmas party. A friend referred Bon Ton and I can't begin to expound on the amazing service that I have received from first contacting Greg Keller (manager) last year to today, when chatting with him about life, travel, and of course - catering with Bon Ton once again for our party this December. Without embellishment, Greg is the most charming, helpful, kind, go an extra two miles for your customer kind of manager, and just an all around amazing human being. He represents Bon Ton wonderfully which is why I call him Mr. Wonderful (not to be confused with the money-hungry guy on Shark Tank lol). Last year, we ordered a full turkey meal. The turkey breast (which is known to be notoriously dry) was moist and succulent and there was plenty of food. This year it will be beef and chicken, and I have no doubts it will be delicious, because Bon Ton has a high standard of excellence. To add to my accolades, I would like to thank Greg and Bon Ton for not only their superior service and quality food, but for doing it at a price point for our church which was more than reasonable - it was magnanimous! As a long time buyer of whatever meat the big box grocery store happened to be selling that day, I decided it was time for me to up my local game and buy from somewhere a little better. I can't think of a better decision or a carnivore to make, and to my surprise, it's a decision that's not even more expensive. Turns out when you make the move to a local meat mart, it's nothing but wins. I had it in my head that I wanted to try my hand and BBQing a Prime Rib Roast. "Hold up, Dale. That's a significant meat purchase and you NOTHING about it." Sush, brain. I don't care if I'm clueless, I'm going to go ahead with it any way! In hindsight, I was beyond lucky that the fine folks at Bon Ton Meat Market were there to make sure my meal didn't quickly become a disaster. They knew how much I should buy to feed the right number of guests, and because I was BBQing, they included and extra fat cap to help seal in all the juices that I would remove once it was done. I'm proud to say that I aced it! It was so flavourful with an intensely rich crust and a tender juicy inside. They even counselled me to find the right amount of marbling I like. They were right. This is the best meal I've had in a long time, and I know it wouldn't have gone that way without their help. They've got a great frozen selection filled with unusual, hard to find, and local game meats as well, and a small selection of cheeses and other meat compliments. I was a Chef for 12 years, very passionate about food, especially meat! I have never really been given a lot of praise for a vegetarian dish, and honestly, I am OK with that... I have a Tamworth Pig with the butchers cuts tattoo on my forearm, so vegans need not read on. ;) I got a feeling today that I haven't had in quite a while, since moving to Calgary actually (not including a trip to Vancouver's Granville Island!) I walked into a butcher shop that I just heard opened in my neck of the woods, and I got the feeling.. My inner chef was thrilled! In I walked into a very clean, large, open, bright and well organized butcher shop. Neatly organized rows of beef, pork, lamb, veal, chicken and a lot more! Bright (and clean!) display cases housed locally sourced cuts of meat, a deli, and an impressive selection of amazing looking cheesecakes. Prices were very reasonable as well! And my dog was happy to see me come home with a big smoked bone for him! There was a good selection of frozen elk, sweetbreads, wieners and various "exotic" meats. After a quick chat with a friendly sales worker about where all the meat came from, I chose a couple steaks, sausages and some amazing double smoked bacon! Now, I could write a whole review just on bacon. I have not found amazing bacon since I left Nova Scotia. There was one farm there with double smoked applewood bacon which I would drive 45 minutes every couple weeks just for the bacon! The double smoked at Bon Ton rivals my favourite Oultons bacon. Good enough to keep me going back, that's for sure! On top of that, the meat was incredible! BBQ'd a BB top sirloin steak wrapped in double smoked bacon, marinated with a bit of olive oil and aged balsamic. Nice bit of sea salt and black pepper and I am a happy guy! Oh and my dog loved the smoked bone.. Overall whatever your meat of choice is, I would recommend checking out Bon Ton Meat Market. I love bonton! I know that the prices are a little high but let me assure you that in my opinion it's worth every penny. I have kidney and immune system problems and so I take my diet pretty seriously. On top of this I will admit I'm a bit of a food snob and have what I've been told are amazing taste buds. All this makes me want the best quality food I can get for my health and because I really can tell the difference. At bonton you can ask about any meat there and if the person you are talking too is not aware what farm it came from or how it was raised, fed and so on they will go find out for you. I don't eat meat unless it's free range and cruelty free. It has as much to do with animal rights as it does with flavor and health. I have had times at bonton where I haven't liked something or I meat didn't look as high quality as always. They are not perfect but they are extremely high quality and they have always gone out of their way for me. I have always been blown away by the quality of service at bonton as well. Even when the place is packed they do not rush you and they make suggestions based on what your tastes are and not what would make them the most money. I also really appreciate that they a lot of them remember me even if I've been sick for a month and have not been in. They will cut me fresh meat because they know about my health issues and how sensitive my immune system is. I like to be completely honest and portray everything in my reviews so I will say that their sausages are bland. So if you really enjoy sausages you might want to try somewhere else. I buy the chicken and apple and chicken and sage sausages but only to add to my stuffing for flavor with roasted turkey dinners. Also as I said before their prices are quite high. With the exception of the sausages this is because you are paying for quality meat and amazing service. I've noticed that coop offers butcher meats now that cost even more now so I'm not sure the prices are even that bad. You can get the meats at the natural food markets and they also cost more. All of these are not as fresh and all bonton's meats are from cruelty free, antibiotic free and free range. So it's not worth paying the prices at natural food stores anymore when you can get better quality meat that is fresh. read more

This was my first time at Bon Ton Meat Market in Crowfoot. I wanted to get some famous meat pies. I got 2 chicken pies, 2 steak & kidney pies and 2 steak pies. The pies are pretty dense with loads of meat; the pastry is quite good and on the thin side so that means more meat! I like all the pies. Tastes great! Also, I got their cabbage rolls - really, really tasty with ground meat and rice in a lovely tomato sauce. Oh,, I also got a piece of their Decadent Carrot Cake - quite moist and tasty and I believe there's coconut, walnuts, almonds in it. Took a tour around the store, Bon Ton also has house-made salads, other cooked food like chili beef, sausage rolls, rotisserie chicken, chicken wings and ribs. The butchery has very fresh meat items of all kinds. I know where to go now for fresh meat cuts. They also carry cheese, bread, some spices and a frozen section for their meats like burgers and bigger pies. Very clean store. Very polite staff. Loads of parking in the front. I wouldn't drive here on a regular basis as it is a long way from the deep southeast. However, it was Valentines Day and I wanted to cook something nice for my lady. I had heard this establishment advertised on Fan 960 and was intrigued. The shop is large and offers much more than than meat. What is really awesome is the service model: the person that helps you stays with you until you've finished shopping. Ended up with baseball ribeyes, in-house prepped seafood coleslaw, Greek salad, and a couple cheeses. The steaks were amazing! Salads were excellent! My husband went and bought 5 lbs of brisket. The employee there was so helpful with instructions. She only charged him for the meat and cut off the fat before she weighed it. She also gave him some fat to put on top of the brisket while it cooked for additional flavour. Whenever we have company over, we'll return to Bon Ton for top quality meat and service. read more

I just spent 104$ for a rib roast and wow! Oh my gosh, the best money I ever spent on a piece of meat. It was 4.3 lbs. and they nicely seasoned It for me. We put it on the rotisserie at 400*-425* for 1.25 hrs. BBQ,d to a perfect medium rare. So tender and tasty.....Absolutely delish! I highly recommend this butcher shop! read more

We've ordered our Christmas dinner turkey from Bon Ton in the past and despite the exorbitant price we've always felt that it was worth it for a fresh, free range turkey. However, this year we were extremely disappointed to pick up our turkey and discover that it was half frozen. It's been in the fridge since yesterday and now my husband is trying to run cold water over it to defrost it so that he can get it in the brine today (Christmas Eve). Definitely not worth the cost for a half frozen turkey. Will not go out of my way to Bon Ton's for a 'fresh' turkey again. read more

Went to the new location today nice store. The prices are really high 12 small lamb chops $74.90 that is hiway robbery! The seafood prices are just high $ 35.00 for 6 scallops!
