Ok. This is my new favorite store…read more I was looking for travel related gear for an extended trip that would accommodate my minimalist travel style. Hooray for The Base Camp and their phenomenally trained staff. Expectations exceeded! The people were knowledgeable, looked up information when I couldn't find the exact thing I wanted, offered to order something not in stock, but could get from their store in Denver, and then let me explore other inventory. They also made it clear I was under no obligation to buy what they ordered if I changed my mind. No deposit, no restocking fee. Nothing. Available for answering questions, the employees didn't follow me around the store like I was going to steal something (well, maybe one person did on my second visit), give unsolicited commentary on every item I picked up, or attempt to drag me to every other similar, and more expensive, item. As my trip gets closer, I'll be back here to pick up those last minute miscellany. And, because The Base Camp has things for every type of outdoor adventure, it'll be an easy stop without the big-box hassles for future trips.

The prices are fairly inexpensive, and small packages of detergent, bleach, fabric softener, and dryer sheets are available to buy from a machine. The dryers are big and work really well, so it doesn't cost much to dry. There is seating inside and outside. I don't think anyone actually works in there, but someone came in to clean. They should consider getting wifi!

Montana Vintage Clothing could be a goldmine, but unfortunately it's run by a passive-aggressive,…read moregrey-haired woman who fat-shames customers under the pretense of "taking your measurements to match you to the right fits." When I found a pair of cute shorts and asked to try them on she said she'd have to "measure me first." I politely declined, assuming it was an optional service, to which she further informed me, it was not. Then things got weird. Because the shorts were cute (and cheap), I begrudgingly let her measure my waist. To which she said "ohh, they're too small," and put them back on the rack (they were actually my size) When I said I'd like to try them anyway, she smugly told me I could purchase them, but I still wasn't allowed to try them on. It was hands down the weirdest, most invasive, and humiliating shopping experience I've had. And it explains why the store is bursting at the seams with clothing. I doubt anyone actually buys anything after being treated like that. If you enjoy unsolicited body commentary and being size-policed over $20 vintage shorts, this place is for you. Otherwise, run. And a tip for the owner: If you want to run a 'by fitting only' boutique, then run a proper by-appointment fitting room where you pull sizes for people instead of wasting their time and humiliating them. Vintage isn't supposed to come with a side of shame.

My son had visited the store before and requested that we go inside. Immediately we were greeted by Maggie who went out of her way to give us the history of the store and show us various products. She explained each product and how it was made. She was incredible. The amount of time she spent with us just to make sure we understood the quality of the product you make. We ended up buying two T-shirts not necessarily because we were looking to buy them but more because of the experience we had talking to her. To have that level of customer service and willingness to go out of your way is something not often visible today.

So i brought it in on Wednesday. they told me would be done Monday after 4pm. Fine. so i came in monday after 4 and they couldnt find it so she got another gal. She brought it up to me and said it was too big it wouldnt fit. she could wash it but she wasnt responsible if it ruined it. Im not gonna risk ruining my $200 blanket. They had my blanket for 4 business days and never bothered calling me and telling me they cant do it. I am not upset that they couldnt do it.. i was upset they didnt call and let me know. they let me go there after 4 and expect it to be cleaned and wasnt.. NOT very good customer service.. never go there again. i will pay the extra money to go to a big name company.
