    Goat area

We always live going here every year for pumpkin carving with the goats and seeing all the other animals there to feed. I loved seeing the goats in Halloween costumes too, so cute!! They have so many other events they do year round though so there's something for everyone. We got some s'mores and spent a good 2-3 hours here just enjoying everything.

We had such a beautiful time here! Kate showed us around and gave us a wonderful tour. The goats were so cute and the farm didn't smell bad at all! And thank you for the yummy watermelons! Would visit a million time again!

You can touch all the animals, they are very friendly, it has very good areas for children, I really enjoyed my time there

Such a cute farm. We did pumpkin carving with goats and had a great time. I love all the activities available and the animals were cute. Great experience and would definitely return

Spring Haven Farm is always a fun outing. Improvements and new additions are made each time I come. This year they seem to have oversold tickets though or sold more tickets after the time slots were sold out. The haunted house also wasn't there and replaced with an ax throwing extra. I really missed the haunted house as they had great ones each year so I was looking forward to what they'd have this year. But still it is fun to interact with the animals and feed them. The donkey was my favorite on this visit. The gift shop had new additions and food available. A food truck was on site for more offerings. Also there was a bubble machine that the kids seemed to enjoy. Admission is pretty cheap and you can add on food to feed to the animals. It is a good place to visit in the fall.

This was our first visit. We came for a 5th birthday party. The kids had an amazing time! They got to feed the goats, carve pumpkins with goats, and go gem mining. The goats loved eating carrot sticks out of the kiddos hands. They also had a giant bunny, pot bellied pigs, Guinea hens, and chickens. The goats in the pumpkin area didn't seem too interested in our group, which was probably good since the little kids might not have been too happy if they were giving them too much attention. The first table we went to had some goat on it. I imagine this happens a lot haha, but kinda gross. The gem mining was super fun! The kids had tons of cool gems that they got to take home. They sell beer and we were able to walk around everywhere with it. They also have food trucks and we even noticed some axe throwing. Super fun spot with lots to do!

I came here for pumpkin carving with goats and this will become a yearly tradition! It was so much fun and the prices were great for the unlimited time we had with the goats. The facility was great and I appreciated the hand washing station and the overall cleanliness of the farm! There were new baby goats when I was there and the caregiver was very sweet in letting us pet them and answering all of our questions about the goats. I can't wait to come back this October!

So many beautiful animals here! I absolutely loved hanging out with the baby goats for an hour. Best money I've ever spent, staff was great and I would definitely come back.

We did Zen Time with baby goats and loved it! We had such a great time visiting the farm. The animals were friendly and the staff was amazing! We will definitely be back. I need more baby goat snuggles.

I like letting animal and they have animals to let, so it really worked out. I want a goat now.

Decided to go carving with the goats and what a delightful experience, staff were friendly and helpful, great pics! We also did some mining, feed some of the animals, had s'mores and they have axe throwing!!!! Overall this place is great they had 2 foods-trucks and a bar . So glad we went!

My partner and I attended Spring Haven Farm's movie with goats event. We had such an incredible time. The goats were adorable and the ambiance was beyond cute! They had an outdoor movie screen with projector and speakers to show the movie. They did have some technical issues with the speakers initially and the volume was a little low but overall I definitely recommend if you are an animal person. They also had other animals at the farm to visit before going in the goat pin. They have a general store, outdoor games and gem mining which would be so fun for the kids.

I could see more interest for younger ones or in the fall. But I honestly didnt think it was very big. We went to do the "zen hour" for an hour with the goats & they gave us food which was all 20 something $. Not worth it in my opinion, & I doubt anyone actually stays a whole hour. The goats are definitely eager for the food. Overall the place looks clean considering & it's okay but nothing worth going out of your way for.

Ethan, our guide, was friendly, outgoing, knowledgeable, attentive, personable... suggest other positive descriptors and he's probably that too! He was absolutely excellent - no notes! - a great source of info and stories! We chose to do half the tour outside, and I'm so glad we did! I had debated between the "behind the scenes" and "walk with the lemurs" options, and doing this part outside was like a mini walk with the lemurs experience! Hooray! We got to be just feet away from some of the various lemur species. A ring-tailed lemur even walked right up in front of us! The Sifaka lemurs were a joy to watch hopping and leaping. Seeing everyone head in for afternoon snacks was so fun too: they all had their own order for heading in, and you could really see their personalities as they went by too. Some lemurs were up in the trees, hopping between them, some down on the ground with us, and all of them seemed so content. Did I mention there is no barrier between you and them during this experience?! It is incredible. One of the Sifakas looked right at us and tilted her head to the side seeming to question what we were doing - definitely curious about us. It was so incredible to be so close to these fellow primates! The tour continued through some of the other buildings. We learned about food, enrichment, research; we met volunteers, scientists, other specialists. Everyone seemed so positive and happy to be there and like they truly enjoyed what they were doing. Can you blame them? It's such a cool place! Next, we got to visit some of the nocturnal species: mouse lemurs, fat-tailed lemurs, bush babies, and aye-ayes! They're nocturnal species, and red light was used to not disturb them. It is harder to see in these places, but the smaller lemurs and bush babies really are adorable and interesting. Ethan gave a tip that video does better than photos in this area (with camera phones at least). It really is hard to wrap your head around these small mouse-sized animals are actually mammals! We also got to view a few aye-ayes, and then even watch one get a special snack! It was very cool to see her use her special long finger to scrape peanut butter and to learn about other special feeding strategies that are used to mimic how they eat in the wild. The gift shop is clean and air conditioned very well in hotter times. There are lots of different items available there: toys, shirts, paintings the lemurs made themselves (!!), ornaments.... you can even "adopt" a lemur and get updates about them while supporting the great work done at the DLC. Even before our tour was over, I was already asking Ethan about other tours and when he recommends we visit again: a true sign of a wonderful experience is wanting to go back even before it's over! I'm so glad to have finally made it here: amazing place!! [A few things to note: there is an age minimum here (10 years old), and you definitely should make reservations for any tours ahead of time.]

Its focus is on research, and it has the most diverse group of lemurs outside of Madagascar. Lemurs are the most endangered species, so the Center studies them non-invasively. They offer a General Tour, which is self-guided; the Walking With Lemurs tour is a small-group, guided tour; and a private tour is also available. I've done both the self-guided and small-group tours. With the self-guided tours, you walk along a path and can spend as much time as you'd like within the allotted time frame, seeing the lemurs in their enclosures. Docents and volunteers are stationed at various spots to tell you about the lemurs and answer questions. Walking with Lemurs is my favorite tour. I like the smaller group of about 8 people, and you get to go into the forest to see the lemurs up close. Remember, you need to stay at least six feet away from the lemurs and cannot touch them. It is also possible that you will not see all the lemurs, as they get to decide whether to be viewed. On my last tour, some just stayed very high up in the trees, but we did see others very close. There is a free parking lot, as well as an overflow lot if that lot fills up. If they both fill, just ask where to park, and they will direct you. Make sure to visit the gift shop before or after your visit. The Duke Lemur Center is an incredible, world-class asset to the Triangle. Whether you choose the General Tour or splurge for the forest walk, it is an unforgettable experience that directly supports a wonderful cause.

The farm also has sheep, chickens, bunnies, donkey, mule, gift shop, seating areas, air conditioned restrooms, handwashing stations, and a pond. We had a lovely experience at Old Mill Farm recently. It was a much needed peaceful retreat and return to nature. We could have spent all weekend just relaxing on the deck watching the animals and snacking on fresh blackberries. We arrived a little late for our lamb snuggle session, however, the employee who greeted us was so understanding and welcoming. She introduced us to the lambs, clearly stated the rules, and answered all of our farm questions. After feeding and petting the adorable sheep for 45 minutes, we explored the rest of the farm. We washed our hands, walked around the pond, pet the goats, perused the gift shop, and visited the chickens, sheep, donkey, mule, bunnies, and vineyards. The fresh blackberries in the vineyard were large, refreshing, and delicious. At that point we were soaked in sweat and decided to wash our hands and head out. We did play all four "carnival" games before leaving. Local: we appreciate their emphasis on supporting other local businesses in what they offer at the bar and in the gift shop. Food/drink: Bar stocked with local beer, mead, wine, cider, and non-alcoholic options. No restaurant on site but they sometimes have a food truck. Customer service: I forgot her name, but the farmer leading our group was incredible. She was so welcoming, patient, and passionate about the farm animals. Parking: large, labelled dirt parking lot near the donkey and mule enclosure. Reservations: needed on specific days/times/events. The website lists when reservations are needed. Price: check the website for free visit days/times. Some events do have a cost. Lamb snuggling was $10/person (for 5 people) and included food for the lambs and a self-guided tour of the farm. It was definitely worth the price.
