My very low score of 2 stars is leaning towards 1 star but the very kind maintenance man who visited our room kept it at a 2. No air conditioning, 3 calls to the front desk over the course of 3 to 4 hours, end result the front desk suggested we open the window. The window did open about 6 inches and did not have a screen. Let's wait and see what kind of bugs we wake up to in the morning. I will edit or add to my review after we check out tomorrow and let, can't wait to see what management does with this.

We had a door that was basically to the entrance. We had to keep the blackout shade down the whole time instead of having a window we could look out of sometimes. The lights in the bathroom were crazy bright with no other option and came on with a sensor you could not turn off. Our second night, the sensor must have been tripped by people walking too close to our door (they went on as soon as you entered the room), since the lights went on without either of us getting out of bed twice. This woke me up and disturbed our sleep. Very annoying. Lionne's food was great, but the service was definitely not very good. Friendly, but not good - especially for breakfast. You pay for parking too. They charge you per night and give you two tickets to get out. You have to pay any other time. They did charge slightly less than you'd pay otherwise, but not much. If not walking to your events on campus, I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

Having stayed at many Hiltons, this was incredibly disappointing. Outside of front desk team…read moremembers being friendly, the overall experience has been well below general expectations for a Hilton - and even basic expectations of any hotel! Some serious concerns about this hotel: 1- First night the air conditioning would not work. It was uncomfortably hot in the room. Called the front desk and the person said no one was around to help - so "just open a window." We did, and had an evening with an open window with no screen. Luckily no daredevil squirrels climbed in and no birds - or bats - chose to invade our space! 2- After three days - there had been no room service. No fresh towels - no emptying of trash - and no replacement of toilet paper. This was after I was leaving the room one day and "room service" was at the door and, in a somewhat rude manner, asked: "Do you want room service?" I said - "oh yes - thank you - I was just leaving." She appeared to go into the room - but I have no idea what she did as, again, no towels were changed out, trash was still in the trash cans, and beds were not made. 3- We ran out of toilet paper, so we asked for some - and then went out. I have included a picture of what we found upon our return - toilet paper left outside of the room - not even brought into the room and put on the roller. 4- An unexplained charge appeared on my card from the hotel - at 11:11 PM when the whole family was in bed. I inquired on this, and as of this time, no one at the hotel can figure out what was charged - still waiting on that to hopefully be explained and, if in error, resolved. 5- The treadmill in the gym has been broken and out of order - as such, I had to go to Planet Fitness. Yet, we have been charged a $10/day "resort fee." This is NOT a resort - and am entirely unclear what this $10 a day charge is going toward. 6- While hot water worked in the morning - by 9:00 PM we did not have any hot water. I called and the person at the front desk said "oh, just keep the water running - it has to come from the other side of the building so it takes awhile to heat up." Uhm, we left it running for about 10 minutes - just cold water. I am unsure how this hotel was allowed to have the Hilton name. Needless to say, we will not be staying here again.

The Graduate by Hilton in State College PA had a planned shutoff of water for several hours the…read moremorning of June 1. I confirmed this the night before with the front desk attendant who seemed reluctant to volunteer the information despite several leading questions from me. I saw no attempt made to notify guests. The corporate guest services office kept insisting the local staff attempted to call customers and notify those just checking in but I'm dismayed that neither I nor anyone in my group was contacted - and had to confront the front desk after another member of my party found out only by questioning a slip made by a staff member. Not having any water at all for several hours is more than discomfort - it's a serious sanitation issue - toilets won't work, restaurant may violate health codes etc. note the "boil water" health department door hanger pictured. And just how am I going to do that in a hotel room? While the outage was not under Hilton's control, failure to use every means to inform guests is unacceptable. A sign in the lobby, notes passed under doors, anything would be better than nothing. Similarly, accepting bookings without disclosure would be wrong if management was aware of this planned outage. To me this goes to basic professionalism and integrity. It's a breach of trust. Therefore I do not plan to book with any Hilton brand in the future.

Stayed over this past New Year's Eve and were pleasantly surprised with free garage parking thanks to Downtown State College and were even able to check in early around noon! They cant guarantee early check in due to fluctuating guest numbers but it never hurts to ask. The ladies at the check in desk were very pleasant and helpful explaining everything included in our stay and some area attractions we might like. Our stay included free breakfast, a perk that makes the extra cost worth it to stay and to our surprise the hot items change daily! One morning it was pancakes, hashbrowns and sausages/ham, the next cheese omlettes, breakfast potatoes, bacon. They always had staples like yogurt and fruit, oatmeal, cereal and bagels and coffee and tea so there was something for every taste. The women stocking the bar was very nice and answered any questions we had about the food. Again we had a large king room, comfy bed and plenty of room space and a large bathroom. Only room complaint was there was an awkward partition in the room that made it strange to talk if someone was on the couch and other on the bed. Felt like I was talking to someone in another room. Other than that I look forward to staying here again when we visit the area!

We ended up completing the move sooner than expected and checked out after two nights. I requested a refund for the unused third night, which the hotel declined. What's particularly frustrating is that the hotel was clearly not at full capacity, meaning there was no lost opportunity tied to our early departure. Despite this, Hyatt Place refused any accommodation beyond offering a 10% discount on a future stay--an offer I declined, as we have no intention of returning. Booking.com indicated they would issue a refund if the hotel approved it, but Hyatt Place would not. This rigid stance feels short-sighted and unnecessarily inflexible, especially considering we will likely be traveling to State College multiple times per year over the next four years. Additionally, we have friends and family who will be visiting the area, and based on this experience, we will not be recommending this property. This situation reflects a "penny-wise, pound-foolish" approach to customer service. A small gesture of goodwill could have easily secured repeat business and positive referrals. Instead, it has ensured the opposite.

Worked great. Michael, on check-in, was one of the best reception/customer service people I've encountered, and I stay at a lot of hotels. Room was 2 queens and well appointed. This hotel is convenient for being downtown. For me visiting campus, I could have been at any hotel as I had to drive to campus anyway. One thing-Thursday night was my stay, at 1-2am, the bar crowds poured into the streets and namely the kabob food truck adjacent parking and hotel and it's noticeable!
